- PTOther2017The Next Step in Understanding Impaired Reactive Balance Control in People With Stroke: The Role of Defective Early Automatic Postural Responses.Neurorehabilitation and neural repairPeople with chronic stroke had impaired reactive stepping, especially sideways, and delayed and smaller paretic hip abductor responses. Their feet-in-place balance capacity was similar to controls.
- PTRCT2017The effects of physical training without equipment on pain perception and balance in the elderly: A randomized controlled trial.Work (Reading, Mass.)Older adults doing a 13-week equipment-free group exercise program improved balance and had lower pain-related disability scores at follow-up. Controls who received no intervention did not show these changes. The program used no equipment and included mobility, core stability, proprioceptive, and coordination work.
- PTPilot2017Associations between trunk flexion and physical activity of patient care workers for a single shift: A pilot study.Work (Reading, Mass.)Patient care workers spent 74% of a shift upright and had 6 minutes of moderate activity. More trunk bending correlated with lifestyle or light activity, not moderate or vigorous activity.
- SLPSurvey2017Decision-Making in Audiology: Balancing Evidence-Based Practice and Patient-Centered Care.Trends in hearingAudiologists rated test results, experience, and client preferences as most important. In difficult hearing cases, many reported using client goals and colleagues. Peer-reviewed literature was less often mentioned. These are self-reports from 96 conference attendees.
- PTOTPilot2017Comparison between sEMG and force as control interfaces to support planar arm movements in adults with Duchenne: a feasibility study.Journal of neuroengineering and rehabilitationIn three adults with Duchenne, the best arm-support control depended on residual arm strength. Surface muscle-signal control was usable by all and preferred by two. Passive-like force control worked only for the strongest participant.
- SLPOther2017The Influence of Maternal Pragmatics on the Language Skills of Children with Autism.Journal of developmental and behavioral pediatrics : JDBPMothers of children with autism had more conversation style problems in a parent interview than mothers of children with other language delays. In both groups, more problems went with lower child language scores, but in different language areas.

Staff wanted more training and resources, and some said this was outside WIC's role.
- SLPRCT2017Verbal, Visual, and Intermediary Support for Child Witnesses with Autism During Investigative Interviews.Journal of autism and developmental disordersFor children with autism, none of the interview supports increased correct details compared with best-practice police interviewing. For typically developing children, a registered intermediary and verbal labels increased details, but verbal labels also increased made-up details.
- OTSLPQualitative2017"Putting on My Best Normal": Social Camouflaging in Adults with Autism Spectrum Conditions.Journal of autism and developmental disordersMost participants described camouflaging their autism as effortful and exhausting. They masked stimming, copied others, and rehearsed conversations to fit in or connect, often delaying diagnosis and hiding support needs.
