About the summaries

01No one reviews a summary before you read it

There is no editor. Software checks each summary before it goes up, but no person reads it.

02What we check, and what we can't

Checked before publishing. Every summary is written from the full text of the paper and has to pass automated checks before it is published. Every number in a summary, for example, must appear in the paper. A summary that fails is not published. How the certainty rating is worked out.

Not checked. We cannot check whether a summary left out something important or gave a minor result too much weight. We cannot tell you whether the paper is any good, or whether it applies to the patient in front of you.

03Who writes them

Most summaries are written by commercial AI services, and some by models we run ourselves. Those services receive the published paper and nothing else. Nothing about you, your searches, your library or your notes is sent to them. The Privacy Policy covers what the site itself records.

04This is not medical advice

Applied Evidence is a reference tool for licensed professionals and students. It does not give medical advice, diagnoses or treatment recommendations. It is not a clinical decision support system, and no regulator, including the FDA, has reviewed, cleared or approved it as a medical device. Using it does not create a clinician–patient or professional–advisory relationship.
