They used touch, sound and routine narration to help children understand the world.
- PTCase-Control2017Locomotor circumvention strategies are altered by stroke: I. Obstacle clearance.Journal of neuroengineering and rehabilitationPeople with chronic stroke and healthy people kept larger clearance from moving obstacles while walking or using a joystick, but some stroke walkers got closer at crossing and collided. Those with poorer walking and balance confidence tended to veer toward the obstacle side.
- Other2017Modifying upper-limb inter-joint coordination in healthy subjects by training with a robotic exoskeleton.Journal of neuroengineering and rehabilitationIn healthy people, an arm exoskeleton that pushed joints into an unnatural pattern changed their arm coordination. After the push stopped, most kept altered coordination for at least 30 minutes. It did not teach the intended pattern, and no patients or function were tested.
- SLPOther2017Next Generation Sequencing Mitochondrial DNA Analysis in Autism Spectrum Disorder.Autism research : official journal of the International Society for Autism ResearchRare mitochondrial DNA variants were shared by affected members of ten autism families, including two variants previously seen in mitochondrial disease. This cannot show these variants cause autism or change therapy.
- SLPCase-Control2017Maternal Exposure to Childhood Abuse is Associated with Mate Selection: Implications for Autism in Offspring.Journal of autism and developmental disordersMothers who reported severe childhood abuse were more likely to have a partner with high autistic traits. Their children were also more likely to have ASD, and parents' autistic traits did not fully explain this link.
