Prayer and church helped, but they wanted clear information about diagnosis, medication, and discharge. RN Survey 2026 The Impact of Perceived Stress on Depression Among Caregivers of Children With Enterostomy: The Moderating and Mediating Effects of Resilience and Perceived Social Support. Nursing open Caregivers of children with temporary stomas who felt more stress also reported more depression symptoms. Resilience was linked to part of this connection. Social support was linked to lower depression, but the study cannot show cause. RN Survey 2026 Synthetic Cannabinoid Use and Sports-Related Concussion Risk Among US Adolescents: Implications for School Health Screening and Prevention. The Journal of school health US adolescents who had ever used synthetic cannabinoids were more likely to report a past-year sports-related concussion in a survey sample of 27,482 students. Nursing in critical care Mothers of NICU infants saw oral glucose as easy and acceptable when it seemed to relieve pain, but disliked sugar, doubted its effect, and preferred breast milk or parental comfort. Revista brasileira de enfermagem First-time mothers described nurse-led breastfeeding counseling in rooming-in as practical and emotional support they said helped them feel able to decide and continue breastfeeding. Family pressure toward bottles or pacifiers could still undermine it. RN RCT 2025 Effect of a digital sexual violence prevention education program on digital sexual violence prevention knowledge, self-protection behavior, and digital citizenship among fifth-grade children: a quasi-experimental study. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) Fifth-grade students who received four health education sessions about digital sexual violence scored higher on prevention knowledge and confidence to act as bystanders than controls. RN Cohort 2026 Self-care and fatigue in individuals hospitalized with decompensated heart failure during the covid-19 pandemic: a cross-sectional study. They reported shame and stigma from peers, particularly boys, as the main barriers to participation and comfort at school. RN Survey 2026 Vaccination Coverage and Factors Associated With Incomplete Vaccination Schedules in Children Under 5 in a Peripheral Area of the Federal District of Brazil. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) 19.75% of children had incomplete schedules, and 82.09% had at least one late dose. Incomplete schedules were more common in children under 2, when vaccines were not all given at the same site, and when caregivers reported pandemic barriers. RN Qualitative 2026 Pretesting Parenting Instruments with Indigenous Fathers and Two-Spirit Parents: A Qualitative Study. The Canadian journal of nursing research = Revue canadienne de recherche en sciences infirmieres Six Indigenous fathers and Two-Spirit parents found common parenting and depression questionnaires confusing, culturally narrow, and unsafe around self-harm wording. Rates varied widely by region, cancer type, and how long pain had lasted. RN Cohort 2026 Effects of Lateral Positions in Second-Stage Labour on Maternal and Neonatal Outcomes: An Observational Study Using Propensity Score Matching Analysis. International journal of nursing practice Lateral positions during second-stage labour reduced episiotomy rates in first-time mothers but increased blood loss at two hours postpartum. For mothers who had given birth before, lateral positions showed no significant benefit or harm compared to lithotomy positions. RN RCT 2026 Design and assessment of an intervention for parents of premature newborns: a mixed-methods study. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem The primary outcome was null. Competency scores did not differ significantly between the intervention and usual care groups at discharge or one week after. The pilot suggests the intervention is acceptable and may reduce basic care hospitalization days, but effect data are inconclusive. RN RCT 2026 The effect of infantile anti-colic massage and kangaroo care on postpartum anxiety, postpartum depression and maternal function of mothers. Massage lowered depression more than kangaroo care. RN Qualitative 2026 Experiences of Breastfeeding Complications in Rural and Regional Victoria: Perspectives From Mothers and Clinicians. The Australian journal of rural health Rural mothers described breastfeeding as harder than expected, with tongue tie, mastitis, supply and latch problems common. Clinicians reported variable training, and mothers often did not know about urgent local support. This describes experiences, not proof that any service works. RN Qualitative 2026 'Something Was Missing': A Qualitative Study of Parents' Expectations in Weight-Related Health Care for Children. Journal of advanced nursing Parents of children with higher weight wanted clinicians to know their family, protect children from blame, and give concrete, coordinated support. They described generic weight advice and delayed follow-up as leaving them unsupported. RN Cohort 2026 Willingness to Test for HIV and Initiate Post-exposure Prophylaxis Among Adolescent Girls and Young Women Seeking Emergency Contraceptive Pills in Pharmacies in Nairobi and Kisumu, Kenya: A Longitudinal Study. This reports their needs, not evidence that a chatbot works. RN Systematic Review 2026 Factors Influencing HPV Vaccination Uptake in Adolescents: Evidence to Guide Clinical Practice. Parental knowledge and attitudes were less consistent, so clinicians should not assume parental hesitancy is the main barrier. Parents, peers, and clinic communication were described as shaping whether they continued self-management. RN Systematic Review 2026 Nursing interventions promoting parenting during child hospitalization: a scoping review. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Nursing actions mapped for parents during child hospitalization include teaching care skills, validating emotions, encouraging skin-to-skin contact and parental presence, and linking families to community resources. The review did not test whether these actions improve outcomes. RN Pilot 2026 DNA Methylation of SLC6A4 and NR3C1 in Term and Preterm Infants: A Pilot Study of NICU-Associated Stress. Biological research for nursing Average total methylation did not differ between term and preterm infants, although NICU stress scores were linked to changes at specific sites of stress-related genes. RN Other 2026 The Impact of a Home Visiting Program on First-Time Parents' Parental Self-Efficacy in Norway and Associations between Parental Self-Efficacy, Depressive Symptoms and Perception of Sleep. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) Mothers showed no difference between groups in parental confidence. Fathers in districts with nurse home visits added to standard care had a small 3.58-point higher score at six weeks, but not at three months. RN Qualitative 2026 Knowing to care: life stories of adolescent survivors of suicide attempts in a Brazilian metropolis. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Twelve adolescent survivors described attempts as impulsive responses to anger, grief, family conflict, bullying, and feeling misunderstood. Nurses can listen for these themes in care. This is not evidence that listening prevents attempts. RN Other 2026 Facilitating Family-Centred Care at the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit: Implementation of a Co-Created Bedside Family Board. Nursing in critical care The paediatric intensive care bedside family board was rated acceptable and feasible, and observed use remained high over six months. Families and professionals said it helped capture child and family needs and shared goals, though most daily goals focused on physical and mental health. RN Survey 2026 Psychosocial Aspects of Caregiving That Influence Stress and Burden Among Parents of Children With Type 1 Diabetes. Nursing open Swedish parents of children with type 1 diabetes felt less stress when they had university education and more satisfaction in caregiving. Feeling pulled by competing demands went with more stress. Ask families about education barriers and role overload. RN Other 2026 Nurse-Driven Quality Indicators for Neonatal Intensive Care: A Delphi Consensus on Family-Integrated Priorities in NICUs. Advances in neonatal care : official journal of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses A Delphi consensus of Chinese neonatal experts narrowed 22 potential nursing quality indicators to nine for NICUs.
