RN Qualitative 2026 The Perception of Nurses From Children With Intellectual Disabilities Using the Drawing Method: A Qualitative Study. Nursing open Children with mild intellectual disabilities mostly drew nurses as smiling women but associated them with large, red syringes. Some omitted facial features or placed themselves far from the nurse. The drawings reflect anxiety about injections and unfamiliar media images, not a lack of understanding. OT RN Survey 2026 Dignity Among Older Persons in Long-Term Care Institutions in Taiwan and Related Factors: A Cross-Sectional Study. The journal of nursing research : JNR 48.9% of 188 older residents in southern Taiwan long-term care institutions reported low dignity. Fewer or no children, lower daily living independence, inability to walk, higher education, and depression were associated with low dignity. RN Case Report 2026 Case Studies to Document Strategies Used by Mothers to Overcome Significant Maternal Morbidity Challenges to Successful Breastfeeding. Journal of human lactation : official journal of International Lactation Consultant Association Two mothers with severe postpartum complications, including surgery and hemorrhage, sustained breastfeeding through hand expression, donor milk, and consistent private lactation support. Hospital staff provided minimal assistance despite the mothers' complex needs. This illustrates strategies for extreme cases but does not prove these methods work for others. RN Systematic Review 2026 Scope of Nursing Work and Models of Service Delivery in Australian Primary and Secondary Schools: A Scoping Review. Journal of advanced nursing Nurses in Australian schools handle a wide range of health issues, from mental health referrals to chronic disease support. However, service models and scope vary significantly by state and employer, creating inequitable access for students depending on where they live. RN Cohort 2026 Risk Factors for Antibiotic-Associated Diarrhoea in Paediatric Patients With Severe Pneumonia: A Retrospective Cohort. Nursing in critical care In 306 children with severe pneumonia, 42 developed antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Infants under 1 year, penicillin use, antibiotics for at least a week, ventilation and stays over 14 days were linked with higher risk; probiotics were linked with lower risk. RN Systematic Review 2026 Informal Coercion Experienced by Adolescents in Mental Health Care-A Systematic Review. International journal of mental health nursing Adolescents in mental health care reported subtle pressures: being silenced, pressured into treatment, threatened with more coercion, and controlled by rigid rules. They described distress, disempowerment and coping such as pretending wellness; one study also saw structure as protective. OT SLP RN Other 2026 Psychometric Properties of the Children With Cerebral Palsy (7-18 Years Old) Self-Care Skills Scale-Parent Form: A Turkish Validity and Reliability Study. Nursing open Parents of Turkish children with cerebral palsy aged 7-18 can rate 19 self-care items, from feeding to communicating needs. Scores tracked gross motor levels and stayed similar over 2 weeks, but there is no cutoff for low or high. RN Qualitative 2026 Maternity Care Experiences Among Birthing Women in Two European-Region Countries During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Qualitative Study. International journal of nursing practice Women described feeling stripped of decision-making during birth, with staff ignoring consent for procedures and restricting partners. They reported insufficient breastfeeding support and lactation expertise, noting that early formula use and separation from infants hindered exclusive breastfeeding. RN Survey 2026 Health literacy of patients hospitalized for digestive surgeries. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Hospitalized digestive surgery patients reported more difficulty getting information for self-care and finding good health information than feeling supported or engaging with providers. Low education was linked to worse scores, suggesting nurses may need to check understanding. RN Narrative Review 2026 Preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences: A Framework for Culturally Responsive Home Visitation. Journal of transcultural nursing : official journal of the Transcultural Nursing Society Only 3 of 13 reviewed home visitation models were nurse-led. Nine models focused on parental behavior rather than broader social stressors, and ACEs were rarely measured. The proposed culturally responsive framework is untested. RN Qualitative 2026 Living with type 1 diabetes mellitus: experiences of Colombian teenagers and parents. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Colombian teens with type 1 diabetes and their parents described diagnosis as an emotional shock followed by constant 24-hour vigilance. They reported poor initial education on carbohydrate counting and insulin, unsympathetic healthcare staff, and social stigma at school. Families relied on peer support groups and faith to cope. RN Qualitative 2026 Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Fathers' Experiences of Early Parenting: A Qualitative Study. Journal of advanced nursing Fathers described feeling excluded by maternity care, left without father-specific information, and overwhelmed by online searches. They wanted continuity from midwives or doctors, plain explanations, paid leave, and peer forums tailored to their language and culture. RN Other 2026 Exploring the Experiences of Families Impacted by the 2022 Commercial Milk Formula (CMF) Food Insecurity Crisis in the United States of America: A Scoping Review. Journal of human lactation : official journal of International Lactation Consultant Association Parents struggled to feed infants during the U.S. formula shortage, with anxiety, guilt, and unsafe practices such as diluting formula or rationing feeds. Nurses should ask about formula access and feeding changes at postpartum and newborn contacts. RN Cohort 2026 Effects of risk management plus predictive nursing on adolescents with non-suicidal self-injury behavior. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P In hospitalized adolescents with non-suicidal self-injury, adding risk management and predictive nursing to routine ward care was associated with fewer self-injury incidents and better mood, quality of life, and social function over 12 months. RN Survey 2026 Factors associated with externalized anger among early adolescents in rural Appalachia: A conceptual proposition with implications for violence prevention. Archives of psychiatric nursing In 1564 rural adolescents, harsh parenting was linked to higher externalized anger, while caregiver support, supportive adults at school and perceived neighborhood safety were linked to lower anger. Girls reported higher anger than boys, contrary to the expected male risk. RN Cohort 2026 Clinical Interventions During Inter-hospital Transfer of Infants With Moderate-to-Severe Bronchiolitis: Implications for Advanced Nursing Practice. Nursing in critical care Three simple thresholds at the regulation call identify which infants need a doctor on the transport team: HFNC with FiO2 over 40%, CPAP with FiO2 over 35%, or pCO2 over 65 mmHg. Applying these criteria would have allowed 70% of transfers to be safely managed by nurse-led teams. RN Cohort 2026 Influence of alcohol on the worsening of COVID-19 and the occurrence of long COVID. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem Alcohol use before infection did not directly cause long COVID, but it was associated with hospitalization, which was directly related to long COVID. Nurses should screen for alcohol use to identify patients at higher risk of severe acute disease requiring admission. RN Qualitative 2026 Bereavement Groups for Parents Who Have Lost a Child: A Qualitative Study of Parental Experiences in a Danish Context. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences Bereaved parents valued hospital-led groups where familiar palliative care staff facilitated sharing. Trust came from staff knowing their history. A score of 5 or more may flag pain that may need medicine. RN Other 2026 Clinical and epidemiological profile of pediatric patients undergoing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation: experience at a referral center. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem Pediatric patients on ECMO who developed mechanical complications had nearly three times the odds of death. The cohort was severely ill, with most receiving vasoactive drugs or antibiotics before support began. Evidence was mixed and low quality. RN Cohort 2026 Factors associated with the interruption of exclusive breastfeeding and weaning in premature infants after hospital discharge: a prospective cohort study. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem Preterm infants' exclusive breastfeeding fell from 71.7% at discharge to 64.6% by 15-30 days. Not being exclusively breastfed at discharge was associated with 6.13 times higher later weaning risk. Nurses can prioritise support before discharge. RN Other 2026 Association of dietary energy and protein intake with frailty among patients with cirrhosis and implications for nursing practice. International journal of nursing sciences Higher energy, protein, and animal-protein intake were linked to lower frailty in patients with cirrhosis. Thresholds were 30 kcal/(kg·d) energy and 0.83 g/(kg·d) protein. This is association only, not proof diet prevents frailty. RN RCT 2026 Mindfulness and communication intervention for mothers of children with developmental disabilities in Yangon: A randomized controlled trial on parental stress and problem-solving communication. International journal of nursing sciences Mothers of children with developmental disabilities who added a mindfulness and communication program, including home practice and phone follow-up, to routine daycare services reported lower stress through 12 weeks. Their problem-solving communication did not clearly improve more than routine services over time. RN Other 2026 Effects of family-based nursing interventions on mothers' knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy related to stunting prevention in Indonesia: A quasi-experimental study. RN RCT 2026 Effect of Online Infant Care Education Based on Meleis's Transition Theory on Breastfeeding Success and Discharge Readiness: A Randomized Controlled Trial. International journal of nursing practice First-time mothers who received online infant care education during pregnancy had higher postpartum breastfeeding success and discharge readiness scores than controls. The control group also received the materials, and both groups received postpartum breastfeeding training. RN Pilot 2026 Usability of the "Be Yourself" IA-powered, chatbot-based website for the prevention of adolescent pregnancy. Investigacion y educacion en enfermeria Adolescents liked the chatbot at first, but found it less usable after two months. It provided confidential sexual health information, but the study did not show it prevents pregnancy or changes behaviour. RN Survey 2026 Conflict resolution tactics between mothers and children in a capital city in southeastern Brazil: prevalence and correlations. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Among 418 mothers in Brazil, most used non-violent discipline, but many also reported aggressive tactics: 81.8% yelled, 70.8% spanked, 61.7% threatened slaps, and 23.4% hit other body parts with objects. RN Other 2026 Perinatal care during the COVID-19 pandemic in the state of Paraná. Revista brasileira de enfermagem In Paraná maternity care during the pandemic, skin-to-skin contact was linked to Apgar scores of 7 and above at 1 and 5 minutes, and referral to a reference hospital was linked to the 1-minute score. For vaginal births, no good practice showed this pattern. RN Meta-Analysis 2026 Coping, Subjective Burden and Mental Health in Family Carers of Dependent Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review With Meta-Analysis. Journal of psychiatric and mental health nursing Dysfunctional coping (avoidance, self-blame, venting, behavioural disengagement) was consistently linked to higher anxiety, depression and caregiver burden in family carers of dependent children. Emotion-focused coping was linked to fewer depressive symptoms, but the evidence was less stable. RN RCT 2026 The Effect of an Art Practice-Based Psycho-Training Program on Psychological Well-Being, Care Burden, Expression of Emotions, and Coping Levels of Mothers Who Have Children With Special Needs. Nursing open Mothers of children with special needs reported higher psychological well-being, lower caregiver burden, better coping and emotional expression after a 15-workshop multi-component psycho-training program. No control group was used, so these changes cannot be proven to result from the program. RN Case Report 2026 The Lived Experience of Delirium in a Critically Ill Child: A Narrative Study. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences A critically ill child described delirium as being lost, pursued and paralysed. He described ways to orient: his mother, hearing his name, light, feeling the floor, and familiar media. This is one child's account, not evidence treatment works. PT RN RCT 2026 The Effect of Peanut Ball Use on the Labour Process and Maternal-Neonatal Outcomes in Parturient Women With High Maternal Body Mass Index: A Randomized Controlled Trial. International journal of nursing practice Peanut ball positioning did not shorten active labour. In high-BMI women without pharmacologic analgesia, upright sitting on a peanut ball lowered end-of-active-phase pain and increased birth satisfaction. RN Case Report 2026 High-Tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication in a Burn Patient With Voicelessness: A Case Study. Nursing in critical care A motion-sensor tablet allowed a voiceless burn patient to communicate specific needs and complex sentences. Nurses reported better care and no increased workload, while the patient and family reported reduced distress and improved connection. SLP RN Systematic Review 2026 Bridging the Gap: Barriers to Access Autism Support for Immigrant and Refugee Communities in Canada and the United States. Journal of transcultural nursing : official journal of the Transcultural Nursing Society Immigrant families faced language barriers and financial constraints most often, followed by culturally incongruent services and long wait times. Interpreters without autism knowledge still left communication incomplete. Bilingual, autism-trained providers and funded navigation support are needed. RN Cohort 2026 Mothers' Views and Experiences of Digital Maternal Presence Intervention and Skin-to-Skin Contact for Neonatal Pain Relief: A Qualitative Study. Nursing open Mothers saw skin-to-skin contact as the best pain relief, though they noted it is slow and requires staff flexibility. Digital maternal heartbeat pads were valued for maintaining a bond when the mother could not be present, despite uncertainty about their analgesic effect. RN Cohort 2026 Associations between pregnancy-related anxiety and positive health behaviors across pregnancy in a sample of low-income, vulnerable women. Midwifery At the first pregnancy interview, higher pregnancy-related anxiety was associated with fewer positive health behaviours. The association was not seen over time and appeared only in women with elevated depression, state anxiety or PTSD symptoms. RN Cohort 2026 Dislodgement Rates of Tunneled Femoral Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters in Pediatric Oncology Patients. Journal of infusion nursing : the official publication of the Infusion Nurses Society In children with cancer, tunneled femoral PICCs had a 12.41% dislodgement rate compared with 40.95% for upper arm PICCs. They also stayed in longer, averaging 181.50 days versus 114.97 days. This supports tunneled femoral placement for reducing catheter loss. RN Survey 2026 The Effects of Social Support on Newborn Hygienic Care and Breastfeeding Intentions in Primigravid Pregnancies: A Cross-Sectional Descriptive Study. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences Among 360 first-time pregnant women, higher perceived social support was associated with greater readiness for hygienic newborn care and stronger intention to breastfeed. Most had low or moderate intention to exclusively breastfeed, and none had high or very high intention. RN Systematic Review 2026 Enjoyment in Preterm Infants: Exploring Clinical and Research Perspectives in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Neonatal network : NN Enjoyment in preterm infants is rarely described and has no agreed direct measure. Nurses can look for calm alertness, steady heart rate and breathing, and engagement, and use skin-to-skin, scent, and care paced to cues to support connection. RN Qualitative 2026 From the perceived risks to the preventative actions: analysis of adolescents' behaviors facing Covid-19. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Adolescents in Brazil linked fear, risk, and concern for family to masks, hygiene, and distancing. Nurses doing adolescent health education can use these beliefs, not just facts, to shape risk conversations. RN Cohort 2026 Factors Associated With Postsurgical Pain in Children and Adolescents With Cognitive Dysfunction. Journal of clinical nursing In children with cognitive dysfunction who could not verbally report pain, 12.1% of assessments showed moderate to severe pain, with higher scores in girls after analgesia and in autism or neurodegenerative disease before analgesia. RN Other 2026 Lexical analysis of terms related to nursing care for pregnant women with syphilis. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Nursing care terms for pregnant women with syphilis grouped into thematic classes: policy, service, community, bonding, maternal-child care, detection, and diagnosis and treatment. The paper maps prenatal syphilis care language, not patient outcomes. RN Meta-Analysis 2026 Psychological and Cognitive Sequelae of COVID-19: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. Journal of psychiatric and mental health nursing Anxiety, cognitive problems, sleep disturbance and depression were common after laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 symptoms lasting at least 12 weeks, but frequency varied so widely that combined figures are not reliable individual risk numbers. RN Qualitative 2026 Exploring Routine Practices of Coercion in Acute Child and Adolescent Psychiatry - Reflections for Practice. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc In acute child and adolescent psychiatric wards, coercion was routine. RN Qualitative 2026 Social Circumstances Affecting Asthma: A Group Concept Mapping Study of School Stakeholders. The Journal of school nursing : the official publication of the National Association of School Nurses School nurses, clinic providers, staff and caregivers rated smoking/vaping exposure and asthma education as most impactful and feasible school asthma issues. Other social risks were seen as impactful but less feasible. These are opinions, not tested outcomes. RN Other 2026 Exploring How Effective, Acceptable, and Practical a CBT-Sensory Modulation Approach Is for Supporting Children Aged 4-7 Experiencing Anxiety. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc A six-session CBT plus sensory modulation programme was followed by reduced anxiety, better functioning, and four of six children no longer meeting anxiety disorder criteria at follow-up. It was acceptable to five of six mothers, but the study was small and had no comparison group. ← Previous PAGE 42 OF 44 Next →
