RN Systematic Review 2025 Social Drivers of Health and Cognition in Cirrhosis: A Scoping Review. Clinical nursing research In cirrhosis, higher education and employment were linked to better cognitive test scores. Most studies measured people at one time, so these are associations, not causes. Education and job history may flag patients for cognitive screening. RN Qualitative 2025 Exploring Self-Management Among Adolescents With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Descriptive-Qualitative Study. Nursing open Thai adolescents with type 2 diabetes wanted short, engaging telehealth help for food, insulin, monitoring and stress. Many had symptoms before diagnosis, but school and family screening also found cases. Parental scolding after high glucose reduced motivation. RN Other 2026 Strengthening Perinatal Services Through Social Care: Outcomes of a Quality Improvement Initiative for a Health Center-Based Perinatal Care Program. Journal of midwifery & women's health A perinatal program integrating midwifery care and social support served high-risk patients in a safety-net clinic. While rates of preterm birth and cesarean delivery were lower than national averages, large for gestational age births were higher and only 44% of patients attended the recommended number of prenatal visits. RN Other 2025 Factors associated with the diagnosis of Brain Death in hospitals in the State of Sergipe. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P In hospitals in Sergipe, adults suspected of brain death were more likely to have the diagnosis confirmed if they lived near the capital, and less likely if they were older or had cancer. PT OT SLP RN Narrative Review 2025 An overview of clinical presentation and management of long COVID. The Nurse practitioner Long COVID can be considered when symptoms persist beyond 12 weeks and alternative causes are excluded. Management is supportive: screen cardiac risk before exercise, use graded exercise, fluids, salt and compression for POTS, and refer to PT, OT, speech and swallowing rehab. RN Other 2026 Development of the Preparation for Community-Based Labor and Birth Instrument Centering Black Perspectives in the United States: A Participatory Adaptation. Journal of midwifery & women's health A childbirth-confidence questionnaire was adapted for people planning home or birth-center births, centering Black perspectives and adding items on safety, dignity, and racial identity. It is a tool for conversation, not yet a tested measure of birth outcomes. RN Qualitative 2026 The Experiences of Service Providers Who Care for Homeless Pregnant or Early Parenting Women. The Canadian journal of nursing research = Revue canadienne de recherche en sciences infirmieres Service providers caring for homeless pregnant women described navigating punitive systems and resource gaps by extending their roles into advocacy. They found meaning in small, incremental client successes, despite facing professional stigma and ethical distress when colleagues treated clients with judgment. RN Systematic Review 2026 Nursing Interventions to Support Family Caregivers of Patients on Haemodialysis: A Mixed-Methods Systematic Review. Journal of advanced nursing Nursing-led caregiver programmes for haemodialysis families mostly improved quality of life, depression, anxiety and self-efficacy, but burden results were mixed. Use structured education, coping, support and follow-up, not information alone, because effects can fade. RN Qualitative 2025 Employing Yarning to Explore the Impact of Endorsed Midwives in an Aboriginal Medical Service. Nursing open In one Aboriginal Medical Service, midwives with prescribing endorsement and Aboriginal women described maternity care as flexible, comprehensive and built on personal relationships. Women valued continuity and cultural safety, and wanted the same midwives to follow them through birth. RN Survey 2026 Stigma and healthcare professional support among adults with diabetes in Japan: A cross-sectional study. Japan journal of nursing science : JJNS Japanese adults with diabetes who reported more support from doctors and nurses had lower stigma scores. The links were clearer in those under 65 than in those 65 and older. RN Qualitative 2025 The Lived Experiences of Family Caregivers in Caring for Older Adults at Risk of Falls: A Phenomenological Study. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Not knowing how to prevent falls, being exhausted, and making home changes were described by family caregivers of older adults at risk of falls. They also faced stigma around walking aids and relied on traditional healers after falls. RN Other 2026 Capturing Gender Identity Through Documentation: A Program Evaluation of a Rural Mental Health Clinic. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) A rural clinic recorded gender identity for 95% of 101 children and adolescents in 2023, compared with none of 3 in 2020. The paper did not measure whether this improved mental health or patient care. RN Qualitative 2026 'Being an Outsider' and 'Being an Insider': A Focused Ethnography of Family Members' Visitation Experiences in an Adult ICU. Journal of advanced nursing In a Chinese adult ICU with brief daily visits, families described being kept outside as powerless and uninformed. They made the waiting area a shared support space, using a designated visitor to bring back condition updates. RN Qualitative 2025 Quality midwifery care during childbirth at a midwife obstetric unit: A qualitative study. Curationis Birthing women reported verbal abuse, ignored complaints, little support and no companion. Midwives said they provided information and safe delivery but lacked staff and management support. Women and midwives disagreed about quality care. RN Qualitative 2025 Stressors experienced by informal caregivers: implications for home care for dependent older adults. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Informal caregivers of dependent older adults described sleep deprivation, physical exhaustion, and financial strain as primary stressors. They relied on coping strategies like prayer and music, but these were insufficient to manage the high levels of emotional and physical overload they experienced. RN Other 2026 Does Cognitive Function Influence the Benefits of Multicomponent Team Interventions? Journal of the American Medical Directors Association Cognitive screening scores did not significantly change the quality-of-life benefit of multi-component team care with nurse symptom management, social work counseling, and clinician-signed orders. 83% screened positive, but lower scores were linked to fewer visits, not less intervention time. RN Other 2025 The Role of a Stroke Specialist Nurse in Early Supported Discharge and Secondary Prevention in the Community. A Scoping Review. Nursing open Community stroke nurse follow-up was reported with better blood pressure self-monitoring, medication review, and patient knowledge. Expect nurse-led post-stroke education and home or telephone follow-up, not evidence that the nurse alone caused recovery. RN Survey 2025 Health-Related Quality of Life of Patients Undergoing Haemodialysis: A Structural Equation Modelling Approach. Nursing open In 208 adults on haemodialysis, feeling supported by healthcare professionals and able to choose, competent, and connected was linked to better physical and mental quality of life. Self-management was linked to lower physical quality of life. RN Other 2025 An Internet Hospital Plus Home Nursing Model for Chronic Disease Patients: Mixed-Methods Study in Tianjin, China. JMIR nursing Home nursing delivered after online doctor consultations served mostly older adults with cancer. Patients waited one to two days and reported near-perfect satisfaction. Simulated costs were lower than ambulance transfers, but the study lacked a control group, so it cannot prove the model works better than standard care. RN Qualitative 2025 Cultural and Contextual Barriers to Sustained Home Blood Pressure Monitoring Practices Among Indigenous People in Northern Thailand: A Qualitative Study. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Akha participants viewed hypertension as a condition requiring attention only when symptoms appeared. Fear of lifelong medication and cultural norms discouraged monitoring. Work schedules and lack of flexible community support prevented adherence to daily home blood pressure checks. RN Survey 2026 Trauma Exposure and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in a Rural Perinatal Population. Journal of midwifery & women's health Rural prenatal patients screened anonymously: 53% of 421 screens reported trauma exposure, and 13.5% screened positive for probable PTSD. Of those with probable PTSD, 63.2% were interested in treatment research. RN Qualitative 2025 "Consider the Following Situation," Parental Treatment Preferences for Children With Rare Diseases: A Content Analysis of Pediatric Advance Care Plans. The American journal of hospice & palliative care In a hypothetical worsening scenario, 13 of 14 families chose to continue all treatments for a child with a rare disease, but 10 of 13 added conditions under which they would reconsider. RN Systematic Review 2025 Breastfeeding strategies following nurslings' hospitalization: a scoping review. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem After a baby is hospitalized, nurses can support breastfeeding with home visits, latch guidance, skin-to-skin, milk expression, restarting breastfeeding and digital follow-up. This scoping review maps strategies, not proof they work. RN Other 2025 Transcultural adaptation, validity, and reliability of the SINBAD System Classification for Brazilian Portuguese. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem The Brazilian Portuguese SINBAD foot-ulcer scoring tool was adapted and judged relevant by experts, but its six items did not consistently act as one measure. Use each item clinically; do not rely on the total score alone. RN Systematic Review 2025 Caring for the Informal Caregivers: Systematic Review of Unmet Needs in Palliative Care. Nursing open Family caregivers in palliative care settings commonly reported unmet needs for timely information, practical help, a dedicated contact, emotional support and respite. Existing assessment tools do not fully capture financial and legal burdens. RN Qualitative 2026 Qualitative Exploration of Black Canadian Parents' Experiences of Having a Preterm Infant and Navigating Racism in the NICU. Journal of advanced nursing Black parents described NICU staff, including nurses, as sometimes dismissive or stereotyping. They learned infant care but felt emotional distress was overlooked. Parents asked for empathy, culturally safe peer support, and clearer communication. RN Cohort 2026 Clinical Performance of the Remote After-Hours Telemedicine Medical Officer of the Day (Tele-MOD) Program: A Cohort Study. Journal of the American Medical Directors Association Emergency department visits, hospitalizations, readmissions, and costs were lower after the first Tele-MOD visit in 492 VA nursing home Veterans. Most were managed in place, but this pre-post study cannot prove the program caused the reductions. RN Cohort 2026 Prepregnancy Overweight and Obesity in Kuwait Birth Cohort Study. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) In Kuwait, 28.82% of analyzed pregnant women were obese and 37.92% were overweight before pregnancy. Older age, earlier menarche, more children, and fertility treatment were associated with prepregnancy overweight or obesity. RN Cohort 2026 End-of-life care utilization of older adults with heart failure and/or COPD: the role of family availability. Heart & lung : the journal of critical care For older adults with heart failure or COPD near the end of life, having a spouse in Utah was linked to higher hospitalization rates; having a spouse without children was linked to higher emergency visit rates. The study did not show that spouses caused this. RN Survey 2025 Health History, Health Condition, Health Behaviours and Health-Seeking Behaviours of Middle-Aged Women Living in a Modern Rural Community: A Survey Research. Nursing open In 342 middle-aged rural Thai women, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, reduced kidney function and overweight or obesity were common; many did not exercise, and distress was usually managed with family rather than health services. RN Qualitative 2025 Perspectives of Advance Care Planning for Latinos During COVID-19. The American journal of hospice & palliative care Participants said language barriers, death taboos, and telehealth made advance care planning hard for Latino families, but COVID raised urgency to plan. OT RN Other 2026 Translation and Psychometric Evaluation of the Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire in Hebrew (H-DSMQ) for Adults With Type 2 Diabetes in Israel. Research in nursing & health A Hebrew diabetes self-management questionnaire for adults with type 2 diabetes found higher self-care scores matched lower HbA1c, but the healthcare-use part was inconsistent. Use it as a patient-reported screen, not proof of cause. RN Survey 2025 Psychological impact of caregiving: anxiety and depression levels among caregivers of patients with pressure ulcers. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P 54.9% of caregivers of home-care patients with pressure ulcers had anxiety symptoms and 56.6% had depression symptoms. Distress was higher with stage IV ulcers, care over 12 hours daily, continuous care, no personal income, or caregiver chronic illness. RN Cohort 2026 Retrospective Cohort Study on Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Cesarean Birth in a Midwifery-Integrated Health System. Journal of obstetric, gynecologic, and neonatal nursing : JOGNN Among term singleton vertex births in a Colorado health system, cesarean birth remained more likely for Asian, Black, Hispanic, and all other race women than White women after accounting for age, insurance, provider, and hospital region. Midwifery care was linked to lower rates. RN Other 2025 Effectiveness of the Comprehensive-Humanized Care Model in nursing consultation: a case study with older adults. Revista brasileira de enfermagem In six older adults receiving nursing consultation, nutrition and family scores changed, spirituality rose, and anxiety increased from 6.8 to 13.8. Gait and social resources were reported as unchanged. This is not proof the model works. RN Qualitative 2025 Perceptions Towards Climate Change and Environmental Resilience Among Adults Living With Mental Illness: A Qualitative Study. International journal of mental health nursing Adults with mental illness saw climate change as real, but many felt their own actions would not matter. They placed responsibility on corporations and governments, and said seminars or news were the biggest cues to act. PT RN Meta-Analysis 2025 Evidence-Based Pathways to Healthy Aging: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Lifestyle Interventions for Longevity and Well-Being. Investigacion y educacion en enfermeria Older adults who followed Mediterranean diet, exercised, slept well, and stayed socially active showed better cardiovascular fitness, strength, balance, mood, and cognition. These are broad lifestyle effects, not a single proven treatment. RN RCT 2025 Sustainability of Complex Interventions: Recommendations From a Pragmatic Clinical Trial to Manage Cancer Symptoms. Nursing research After funding ended, an oncology symptom programme continued with clinic-visit patient-reported symptom checks and RN symptom care managers for severe symptoms, social work and palliative referrals. This reports sustainment steps, not patient outcomes. RN Qualitative 2025 Elderly Medical Patients' Experience of an Acute Readmission to the Emergency Department-An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences Older adults readmitted to an emergency department felt trapped by fragmented care. They needed a clear explanation, someone who believed them, and support from family or one trusted clinician. Missing these made them doubt symptoms and lose trust. RN Qualitative 2026 Timely Implementation of Patient-Reported Outcomes in Clinical Care: Insights From Clinicians and Health Informatics Experts. Journal of advanced nursing Clinicians and informatics experts identified timing as critical for patient-reported outcomes. Early collection supports prevention, while routine integration aids disease management. Barriers include time constraints, language differences, and lack of standardization. Support staff and electronic health record alerts facilitate timely use. RN Systematic Review 2026 Structural Vulnerability in Health Research: A Systematic Mixed Studies Review. Journal of advanced nursing Definitions of structural vulnerability were consistent across thirty-seven U.S. studies, but measurement varied. Quantitative work often used individual indicators such as housing, food insecurity and criminal justice experiences, while qualitative work focused on upstream systems. PT OT RN Cohort 2026 Healing at Home: Receipt of Home Health Care and Patient-Centered Outcomes Among Older Adults After Acute Myocardial Infarction. Journal of the American Medical Directors Association Home health care after AMI made no significant difference to days not at home in older adults. It was linked to a lower chance of a 5-point or greater physical health status decline. RN Systematic Review 2025 Experiences and Perceptions of Hospital to Home Transitional Care for Parents of Premature Infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: A Qualitative Meta-Synthesis. Nursing open Parents of preterm infants moving from NICU to home felt relieved but unsafe without hospital monitoring. Many lacked confidence in feeding and care; parents reported feeling more prepared when they had hands-on NICU involvement and continued support. RN Qualitative 2026 "We Don't Take Care of Ourselves": A Qualitative Study on Self-Management Challenges and Health Needs Among Older Family Care Partners of Persons With Heart Failure. Research in gerontological nursing Older heart failure caregivers described time, anxiety and physical limits blocking their own self-care, yet duty to care recipients motivated them to stay active. They wanted peer support for caregivers and practical guidance, not patient-focused groups. RN Qualitative 2025 Use of Social Media to Support Gestational Diabetes Risk Reduction for American Indian and Alaska Native Females: A Qualitative Study Soliciting Perspectives From American Indian and Alaska Native Youth, Mothers, and Content Experts. The science of diabetes self-management and care AI/AN female youth and mothers said gestational diabetes risk messages should use short videos, humor, culture, and real AI/AN role models. They also warned social media can be unsafe and spread misinformation. These were content preferences, not tested interventions. RN Survey 2026 Underrated risk: Food insecurity and distress of Filipino Americans with hypertension in a primary care setting. Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Filipino American adults with hypertension who reported food insecurity had higher distress, more sleep problems, worry, and sadness than food-secure adults, even after accounting for income, age, and gender. PT RN Qualitative 2026 A Sisterhood of Women: The Process of Co-Creating Recommendations for Improved Pessary Self-Management Support. Journal of advanced nursing Eight women who already self-manage pessaries described barriers including painful insertion, limited pessary choice, conflicting information, stigma, and worry about losing clinic support. They asked for practical written guidance, accessible follow-up, peer support, and care that acknowledges emotional impact. PT OT RN Cohort 2025 Community Cardiac Rehabilitation Program: Lessons Learned for Long-Term Outcomes. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing Six months after cardiac rehabilitation, patients continued to improve walking distance and kept waist size down, but blood pressure, weight, BMI, depression, physical activity and medication adherence worsened. Diet and smoking gains held. RN Other 2025 Adherence to pharmacological treatment after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: context analysis. Revista brasileira de enfermagem After stem cell transplant, medication adherence at home was shaped by distress, side effects, forgetfulness, complex regimens, family support, and clear discharge teaching. The review mapped these factors but did not show which intervention improves adherence. RN Other 2025 Myocardial Infarction and Traditional Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Older Patients in Primary Care. Revista brasileira de enfermagem 10.5% of 1,322 older primary-care patients in northern Brazil had myocardial infarction.
