Women and birth : journal of the Australian College of Midwives Bereaved parents in Uganda described avoiding memory-making practices like holding the baby or keeping photos, finding them distressing. They relied on family and community financial support to cover funeral costs, rather than formal health service bereavement care. RN Survey 2025 Do Adolescents Living With HIV in Kenya Know Their Viral Load Results? Record Audit and Adolescent Exit Surveys in Kiambu and Nakuru Counties: A Cross-Sectional Study. Journal of advanced nursing Child and Family Centred Care is defined as placing the child at the core of holistic care, distinct from Family Centred Care. Antenatal colostrum had higher protein than formula and resembled day 1 postnatal colostrum. RN Systematic Review 2025 Breastfeeding counseling in rooming-in care: a scoping review. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Rooming-in breastfeeding counseling was associated with better breastfeeding establishment and maintenance, less formula use, and fewer infant health problems. It also reduced the belief that milk was insufficient, though the review did not test a specific counseling protocol. RN Qualitative 2025 A qualitative exploration of perceptions of the aetiology of preterm birth among pregnant Black women. Midwifery Pregnant Black women described preterm birth risk as tied to doing too much, emotional labour of racism, and relationship burdens. This is not evidence of causes. Brief videos, handouts, or provider discussion improved knowledge and risk-reduction behaviors. Screening and treatments showed mixed results; valacyclovir and higher-dose HIG need more study. RN Qualitative 2025 Family management of common sleep disturbances among children with autism: Implications for pediatric nursing research and practice. Journal of pediatric nursing Caregivers describe managing sleep in children with autism as a balancing act between the child’s sensory needs and the family’s own sleep. Night wakings were most common, but often went unnoticed by parents if the child stayed in bed. Screening tools may miss these disturbances. RN Systematic Review 2025 Barriers and facilitating strategies for healthcare access and reception for transgender children and adolescents. RN Systematic Review 2025 Experiences of Family Caregivers of Children Aged 1-23 Months Who Have Received Pediatric Palliative Care: A Systematic Review With Qualitative Metasynthesis. They reported gaps in staff training, communication, and discharge instructions, while appreciating supportive nurses. Nursing open Parents of children with and without congenital hearing loss reported that higher stress, depression, and anxiety were linked to lower parenting self-efficacy, and that lower psychological flexibility, mindful awareness, and self-compassion were also linked to lower self-efficacy. The American journal of maternal child nursing Primary care nurses should assess 8-12 feeds or expressions in 24 hours, cue-based feeding, safe skin-to-skin, detailed feeding history, and delayed milk-production risk factors at newborn visits. RN Other 2025 Maternal identity measurement based on the experiences of mothers with infants: a methodological study. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) A 17-item questionnaire for Korean mothers of infants measures maternal identity across warmth, effort, indifference and preparation. It was tested in 300 mothers but has not been tested for clinical care. RN Other 2025 Effectiveness of passive ankle pump exercise on lower limb swelling in neonates with a peripherally inserted central catheter: a quasi-experimental study. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P In neonates with lower limb PICCs, adding nurse-led passive ankle pump exercise to limb elevation and warm compresses reduced leg swelling and shortened time to resolution from 80 hours to 56 hours. RN Systematic Review 2025 Digital components and interaction types in counseling interventions for childhood and adolescent obesity: A systematic review. International journal of nursing sciences Digital counseling for children and adolescents with obesity mixed web, apps, prompts, wearables, and staff contact. Some studies reported BMI or behavior improvements, but results were inconsistent and nurses were rarely included. RN Systematic Review 2025 The Relationship Between Excessive Screen Time, Self-Harm, and Suicidal Behavior in Adolescents During the COVID-19 Pandemic: An Integrative Literature Review. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc Heavy smartphone, internet, social media and video game use was associated with more suicidal thoughts, planning, self-harm and attempts in adolescents during the pandemic, across 18 studies. These are associations, not proof screen time causes self-harm or suicide attempts. Nursing & health sciences Fathers, mothers and service providers described perinatal services as centred on mothers and children, making some fathers feel secondary. Participants suggested father-specific education, flexible attendance and attention to paternal mental health, while cautioning that fathers should not always be present. RN RCT 2025 Effect of premature infant oral motor intervention (PIOMI) and pacifier intervention on the transition to oral feeding in preterm infants: A randomized controlled study. Japan journal of nursing science : JJNS Preterm infants given oral motor intervention or pacifier reached full oral feeding sooner and had shorter hospital stays than controls. The two methods produced similar results, so either may be considered when certified oral motor care is unavailable. RN Survey 2025 Association Between Family Support and Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy in a Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open Higher family support was linked to higher breastfeeding confidence. Mothers whose postnatal caregiver was their parents had lower confidence. Nurses can ask whether family help is supportive or controlling. RN Cohort 2025 Associations Among Childhood Household Income, Latent Classes of Early Adverse Childhood Experiences, and Adolescent Mental Health. Issues in mental health nursing Adolescents with many types of early childhood adversity had the highest depression and anxiety symptoms. Adolescents with physical or emotional abuse but few other adversities had symptoms similar to those with little adversity. That group also had the highest household income at birth. This maps methods, not evidence that a nursing diagnosis or intervention improves patient outcomes. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Fathers of critically ill children often remain secondary caregivers because work demands, gender expectations and hospital ward routines limit them. Nurses can include fathers in care, education and support instead of treating the mother as the only parent. RN Qualitative 2025 Integrated Aftercare Support for Parents and Carers Following a Child's Suicide Attempt: A Qualitative Study. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc Parents described post-suicide aftercare as helpful when staff listened, came to their home, and provided peer support. They wanted longer hours, clearer structure, and more time. RN Survey 2025 Knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women about COVID-19 vaccination. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem 63.88% of pregnant women had negative views about COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy, mostly fearing fetal harm. Higher education and enough vaccine information were linked to more positive attitudes. RN Qualitative 2025 Seeking Healthcare in Many Different Places: Mental Health Strengths and Challenges Among Omani Female Adolescents. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc Omani young women said stigma, cost, and fear that school nurses or social workers would tell parents kept them from mental health care. They still valued family and government support and some used prayer, peers, or the internet. RN Qualitative 2025 Parental Caregiving Experiences in Epidermolysis Bullosa: A Phenomenological Study. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Parents of children with epidermolysis bullosa described being sent home without training, leading to trial-and-error wound care and false hope. They reported profound isolation, family instability, and despair due to the relentless physical burden and lack of clear guidance. RN Other 2025 The factors affecting breastfeeding self-efficacy, LATCH scores and effect of postnatal breastfeeding education on mothers' self-efficacy. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P 217 postpartum mothers' breastfeeding confidence scores rose from 58.9 to 68.4 on a 14-70 scale after routine hospital breastfeeding support, one-on-one breastfeeding education, practical demonstration, positive feedback, and phone follow-up. No control group means the rise cannot be separated from those components. RN Systematic Review 2025 Technologies for healthy lifestyle in people with HIV: a systematic review. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Apps, booklets, motivational interviews and phone calls improved healthy lifestyle, ART adherence, stress, smoking or depression in adults with HIV across eight randomized trials. The review did not combine the results, and every trial had some weaknesses. RN Survey 2025 The Mediating Role of Hopelessness in the Relationship Between Social Media Addiction and Loneliness Among Adolescents. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc Adolescents who reported more social media addiction also reported more loneliness and hopelessness.
