Their needs changed over time, and staff attitudes and visiting rules shaped whether that support arrived. RN Pilot 2025 Examining the Feasibility and Acceptability of Identifying Signs of Social Anxiety, in University Students Aged 18-25, While Watching 360° Immersive Films. International journal of mental health nursing Seven healthy students watched immersive anxiety scenarios in VR headsets. Heart rate did not correlate with self-reported anxiety scores, but it rose significantly in the ten seconds after specific social events. Participants found the headsets comfortable but reported technical glitches and difficulty knowing where to look. RN Systematic Review 2024 Dietary interventions to reduce heavy metal exposure in antepartum and postpartum women: a systematic review. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) Calcium and jujube fruit lowered some heavy metals, probiotic yogurt prevented mercury and arsenic from rising, and fish advice and grocery gift cards helped women choose lower-mercury fish, but vitamin D did not lower heavy metals and raised lead. Evidence is limited by biased trials. RN Survey 2025 HIV Vulnerability Typologies Among Adolescent Girls and Young Women in Lesotho: A Population-Based, Cross-Sectional, Latent Class Analysis. The Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care : JANAC In Lesotho, within each age group from 15 to 29, the high-vulnerability group had higher HIV prevalence than low-vulnerability or parous groups. The high-risk profile clustered several sexual behaviors, not one single risk. RN Cohort 2025 Association Between a Family Caregiver's Relationship to Persons With Dementia and Cardiovascular Disease by Race and Ethnicity: A Secondary Analysis of the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Data. Western journal of nursing research Spouse caregivers of people with dementia had higher rates of diabetes, stroke, heart disease, and heart attacks than adult children or other relatives. Depression and smoking patterns varied by race. This is observational data; it does not prove caregiving caused these conditions. The science of diabetes self-management and care Adolescents with type 1 diabetes who reported more confidence in managing diabetes and more open parent-adolescent communication also reported better diabetes self-management and greater engagement in managing their care. This cross-sectional survey cannot show cause. RN Cohort 2025 Association Between Antibiotic Exposure During Pregnancy and Postpartum Depressive Symptoms: The Japan Environment and Children's Study. Research in nursing & health Taking antibiotics during pregnancy did not remain linked to more postpartum depressive symptoms once other factors were considered. The small apparent link later after delivery may reflect distress during pregnancy, not the antibiotics themselves. RN Survey 2024 Factors associated with future fertility intentions among Korean women of childbearing age in Seoul: a cross-sectional study. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) Among 496 women in Seoul, 25.6% intended future children. Intention was associated with working 41-50 hours weekly, believing children after marriage are necessary, children strengthen relationships, or motherhood is sacred. Never receiving sexual education was associated with lower intention. RN Qualitative 2025 Maternity behind and beyond bars: analysis from the perspective of protection bioethics. Revista brasileira de enfermagem In two Brazilian prison units, mothers and staff described mother-child spaces as lacking basic hygiene, supplies and social contact. These gaps were described as worsening illness, psychological harm and maternal-child vulnerability. RN Other 2025 Health of quilombola children as a challenge for the Sustainable Development Goals: a scoping review. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Evidence on quilombola children's health clustered around nutrition, with high food insecurity, anemia, and barriers to primary care. Across 18 studies, poverty, sanitation, and access were linked to child health. PT RN Other 2025 Pain management in hospitalized infants: recommendations for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Revista brasileira de enfermagem All infants in a Brazilian NICU had painful procedures, but none were assessed with a pain scale, only 13.7% had documented pain, and only 2.8% were reassessed. Breastfeeding and skin-to-skin care were common documented interventions. RN Other 2025 Micro and macropolitical determinants for non-vaccination against COVID-19 in pregnant women in Belo Horizonte. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Pregnant and postpartum women who did not work, found prenatal care hard to access, or lacked support were more often unvaccinated. Nurses can ask about these barriers in maternity care. RN Other 2025 Self-harm in the two years of greatest restrictions during the covid-19 pandemic: a cross-sectional study. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Self-harm notifications in São Paulo during the pandemic concentrated in adolescent and young adult women, mostly at home, often poisoning, and frequently repeated; most were referred to health services, but not all to specialized mental health. RN Qualitative 2025 Exploring the Use of Sea Swimming as an Intervention With Young People With Mental Health Challenges: A Qualitative Descriptive Study. International journal of mental health nursing Young people in mental health inpatient care described sea swimming as more engaging than talk therapy, citing immediate calm and a sense of bravery from overcoming the cold. They valued the informal group setting for reducing power dynamics with staff. RN Other 2025 Adolescents and parents experiencing parental cancer: construction of a nursing intervention model. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P A proposed nursing model uses separate parent, adolescent and family sessions to help families facing parental cancer discuss cancer, feelings, coping and future planning. It has not been tested. RN Other 2025 Acculturation Impacts on Depressive Symptoms Among Hispanic Sexual Minority Youth and Hispanic Non-sexual Minority Youth. Issues in mental health nursing For Hispanic adolescents, their own American and Hispanic cultural values were associated with fewer depressive symptoms over 36 months, except in sexual minority youth, where the sample was small and the associations were not clear. RN Qualitative 2025 Perceptions of Mental Health Challenges and Needs of Indonesian Adolescents: A Descriptive Qualitative Study. International journal of mental health nursing Indonesian adolescents described emotional turmoil, bullying, academic pressure and family conflict, and wanted school mental health programmes with face-to-face local experts, peer support and parent involvement. RN Cohort 2025 Lessons Learned in Virtual Launch of an Antenatal Opioid Exposure Study During the COVID-19 Pandemic. Nursing research 234 of 310 infants in an antenatal opioid exposure study attended the 6-month visit; control infants attended more often than opioid-exposed infants (83% vs 72%). Coordinators used plain-language MRI explanations, non-stigmatizing language, and flexible visits. RN Systematic Review 2024 Facilitators and barriers to parent-child communication in pediatric palliative care: An integrative review. International journal of nursing sciences In pediatric palliative care, denial, fear, and mutual protection were described as barriers to honest parent-child talk about illness and death. Memory activities, play, and team guidance were described as supports. OT RN Qualitative 2025 The school environment in the experience of children with special health needs: a qualitative study. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Children with special health needs valued school for normality and friendship, but symptoms, absences, stigma, and pandemic risk made participation hard. They used pacing, staff support, and self-care to keep going. RN RCT 2025 The Effect of Online Infant Care Education and Postpartum Counseling Based on Meleis's Transition Theory on Mothers' Self-Esteem and Infant Health: A Randomized Controlled Trial. Nursing & health sciences First-time mothers who received online baby-care training before birth and weekly support for three months had higher parenting confidence, more exclusive breastfeeding, fewer gas, rash, thrush and congestion problems, and lower hospital admission rates in the first and third months than mothers receiving routine care. RN RCT 2025 Effects of an Online Theory-Based Educational Programme for Primiparous Women on Improving Breastfeeding-Related Outcomes: A Randomised Controlled Trial. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences At 6 months, the online breastfeeding programme did not show a clear difference in exclusive breastfeeding. At 2 months, 70.67% versus 40.85% favoured the programme, and breastfeeding confidence scores rose at both time points. RN Meta-Analysis 2025 Technology-Based Interventions for Pain in Children Undergoing Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. International journal of nursing practice Technology-based distraction and educational tools modestly reduced pain scores in children undergoing surgery across 14 randomized trials with 1091 participants, but benefit varied widely by intervention and measurement. RN Survey 2025 Examining the relationship between adolescents' social media addiction levels and cyberbullying experiences. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P 23.3% of 1,058 adolescents met the social media addiction cutoff; 66.8% were classified as cyberbullies and 64.7% as victims. Addiction was linked with more time online, stranger contacts and sharing personal content. This cannot show addiction caused bullying. RN Meta-Analysis 2025 Supportive Nursing Care Intervention for Handling Depression and Anxiety Among Mothers of Neonates Admitted in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): A Meta-Analysis. Nursing open Supportive nursing care in the NICU lowered mothers' depression scores. Anxiety symptoms also appeared lower, but the anxiety evidence is very low and should not be relied on alone. RN Survey 2025 The Influence of Substance Use on Sleep Duration Among South Korean Adolescents by Sex: A Secondary Analysis. Journal for specialists in pediatric nursing : JSPN For male adolescents, neither tobacco nor alcohol use was linked to sleep duration. For female adolescents, alcohol use was linked to shorter sleep, and age was the strongest factor overall. RN Qualitative 2025 Social inclusion of families of children with Zika syndrome in light of Betty Neuman. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Mothers of children with Zika syndrome described barriers to social inclusion: school, transport, prejudice and not knowing rights. Family acceptance and knowing rights were protective. RN Systematic Review 2025 Educational technologies for families and children with type 1 diabetes: a scoping review. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Children and families with type 1 diabetes were taught with videos, games, apps, simulators, toys, booklets and workshops. The review maps these tools; it does not show which ones improve diabetes management or self-care. RN RCT 2025 The Effect of an Educational Application on The Quality of Life and Treatment Adherence in Mothers of Children with Congenital Heart Disease Undergoing Cardiac Surgery: A Randomized Clinical Trial. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Mothers given a four-week Android app after their child's heart surgery reported higher quality-of-life and treatment-adherence scores than control mothers at one month. Both groups also received booklet, nurse discharge education, and weekly calls. RN Qualitative 2025 Exploring Caring Motivation Barriers among Mothers of Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: A Qualitative Content Analysis. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Mothers of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities described losing caregiving motivation when they felt unprepared, unsupported, or exhausted. They also cited child growing older, financial strain, healthcare staff discouragement, and lack of progress as reasons they considered placement. RN Survey 2025 Post-traumatic Growth in the Link with Resilience, Self-compassion, and the Personal and Clinical Characteristics in Adolescents with Life-threatening Disease: A Cross-sectional Correlational Study. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Adolescents with life-threatening illness reported more post-traumatic growth when resilience was higher. Self-compassion was linked to growth, but it did not add to growth once resilience was considered. The study did not test an intervention. RN Qualitative 2025 Parents' Experiences of Palliative Care Decision Making for Children With Terminal Cancer: A Qualitative Study. Journal of hospice and palliative nursing : JHPN : the official journal of the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association Parents of children with terminal cancer said understanding their child's illness, trusting clinicians, and family culture shaped end-of-life choices. The study suggests clearer explanations, emotional support, and cultural sensitivity may help families. RN Cohort 2025 The Causes, Characteristics and Outcomes of Paediatric Farm Burns in Australia and New Zealand. The Australian journal of rural health Farm burns in children were uncommon but different: mostly boys and older children, small deep contact burns from vehicles or campfires. They often had delayed admission and inadequate first aid, and more often needed theatre and skin grafting, yet hospital outcomes were similar. RN Survey 2025 Comparison of Self-Efficacy and Knowledge of Human Papillomavirus Vaccination among Various Types of Decision Makers in Indonesia: A Cross-Sectional Study. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Mothers of adolescent girls had the lowest HPV vaccine confidence and knowledge scores; young adult women deciding for themselves had the highest. All three decision-maker groups differed on both measures. RN Other 2025 Cytokines and Depressive Symptoms Among Adolescents. Biological research for nursing Higher salivary IL-6 and IL-8 were linked to more depressive symptoms; IL-1β, IL-8 and TNF-α were linked to a positive depression screen. These are associations only, not a diagnostic test. RN Qualitative 2025 Stakeholders' Perspectives on Child Healthcare Services under Rural Health Reform in Thailand: A Qualitative Study. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Rural Thai families and providers described child health care as uneven, under-resourced, and hard to navigate during reform. They pointed to village volunteers, teachers, local leaders, and clearer family communication as needed supports. RN RCT 2025 The Effect of Early-Initiated Half-Swaddling and Kangaroo Care Practices on Maternal Sleep Quality and Postpartum Depression in Term Infants: A Randomized Controlled Trial. Nursing & health sciences Mothers using half-swaddling, kangaroo care, or both had better sleep and lower depression scores in the tables, but the results text calls them worse. RN Qualitative 2025 Parents' Experiences With Couplet Care Following Caesarean Section in an Integrated Neonatal and Maternity Unit. Advances in neonatal care : official journal of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses Parents who stayed with their newborn after caesarean section valued not being separated, nurse availability and clear communication. They described growing more confident in caring for their newborn, while fathers often became primary caregivers and mothers struggled with pain and immobility. RN Pilot 2025 Use of Text Messaging to Educate Family Caregivers of Children With Asthma. Journal for specialists in pediatric nursing : JSPN Caregivers who received three weeks of asthma text messages scored higher on a 17-to-85 knowledge test, but only eight completed both surveys. Confidence scores did not change clearly, and satisfaction was high among the 12 who answered. OT RN Qualitative 2025 Vulnerability situations of adolescents and young people from rural areas undergoing cancer treatment. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Rural adolescents and young people with cancer described shock and confusion at diagnosis, lost friendships, stopped school, work and leisure, and found travel for treatment exhausting. Distance to care could make them want to stop treatment. RN RCT 2025 Effectiveness of e-share intervention for caregivers of elderly people after stroke: a pragmatic randomized trial. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem The nurse-led caregiver programme did not improve overall caregiving ability or burden compared with usual care. Both groups improved. The intervention group reported better help with administering medications. RN Survey 2025 Health Literacy and Self-Efficacy in Parents of Toddlers-A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open Parents of toddlers in this Norwegian survey reported high health literacy and self-efficacy. Higher self-efficacy correlated with better health literacy across all nine domains, with the strongest link seen in understanding health information well enough to know what to do. RN Qualitative 2025 American Indian Adolescent Perspectives on COVID-19 Impacts Within Great Plains Area Reservations. Journal of transcultural nursing : official journal of the Transcultural Nursing Society American Indian/Alaska Native adolescents on Great Plains reservations described pandemic isolation, disrupted school and social ties, and mixed physical activity, but also used family connections and online gaming to cope. These are self-reported experiences, not evidence of a treatment effect. RN Other 2025 Contribution of the Brief Family Strength-Oriented Therapeutic Conversation Intervention to Early Childhood Sleep Health: A Quasi-Experimental Study. Journal of family nursing 57 caregivers of infants with sleep problems reported better sleep beliefs, family support, and quality of life after a nurse-led family conversation intervention. Night-time sleep habits and longest night sleep also improved, but there was no control group. RN Other 2025 Communication Interventions for Families with Parental Cancer With Dependents: Findings from a Scoping Review. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing For nurses, existing family communication interventions for parents with cancer often target the parent or child separately, occur at diagnosis or end of life, and rarely test coparent or family communication outcomes. RN Qualitative 2025 Difficulties in providing nursing care to children with neurodevelopmental disorders admitted to child and adolescent psychiatric units for aggressive behavior. Japan journal of nursing science : JJNS Nurses in child psychiatric wards struggle to manage aggression in children with neurodevelopmental disorders due to distrust, inconsistent staff responses, and lack of training. They rely on trial and error because evidence-based protocols for de-escalation and reflection are missing. RN Other 2025 The implementation and impact of narrative diaries in neonatal intensive care units: A scoping review. Nursing in critical care NICU diaries are increasingly used, but their formats and effects vary widely. A pilot journal trial found no clear difference in parent anxiety or depression, while other studies reported reduced stress; evidence is too limited to confirm benefit. RN Systematic Review 2025 Effects of digital health interventions in women with high-risk pregnancies: a systematic review. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) Across seven trials, digital health tools for high-risk pregnancy did not improve primary blood pressure or birth outcomes. Some secondary anxiety, satisfaction, and illness-perception results were better with the tools. RN RCT 2025 Parent and pediatric nurse practitioner views on integrating the digital TELL tool intervention into clinical practice. Journal of pediatric nursing Parents using donated gametes or embryos said the TELL Tool gave them confidence to talk with their children. Pediatric nurse practitioners would welcome it as a supplement, but all but one wanted proof it works and hands-on access first. RN RCT 2025 Effects of Health Education Based on the Roy Adaptation Model on the Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors and Self-Esteem of Working Adolescents: A Randomized Controlled Trial. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) Working adolescents who received six health education sessions scored higher on healthy lifestyle behaviours right after the programme, but not six weeks later.
