PT SLP RN Systematic Review 2025 Patient follow-up after discharge from the paediatric intensive care unit: A scoping review. Nursing in critical care PICU discharge follow-up for children was scattered and mostly research-driven. Multidisciplinary teams were rare, and no single validated score captured physical, cognitive, emotional, social and family needs. RN Survey 2025 Social Media Addiction and Cognitive Behavioral Physical Activity Among Adolescent Girls: A Cross-Sectional Study. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) Adolescent girls who used the internet two hours or more daily had higher social media addiction and lower physical activity attitude scores. Those who saw themselves as inactive also showed the same pattern. RN Survey 2024 Domestic accidents due to children's falls: a cross-sectional study. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Most caregivers reported their child had fallen at home, yet two-thirds had never received safety advice. Falls happened even when an adult was present, usually the mother, and the head was the most injured body part. RN Other 2024 Vein Visualisation Technology for Peripheral Intravenous Access in Paediatric Patients: A Clinical Decision-Making Tool. Nursing open Paediatric IV device choice in a specialised team was linked to age, BMI and access site: near-infrared was more likely to help first-attempt success over age 2, transilluminator for underweight under 2. It is a decision tool, not proof of improved success. RN Cohort 2024 Lifetime History of Head or Traumatic Brain Injury Before Age 9 and School Outcomes: Results From the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study. The Journal of school health Head injury before age 9 was linked to poorer grades, grade drops, discipline issues, and special education, mainly in boys. RN Qualitative 2024 Experiences and meanings of trans men about breastfeeding in light of the Theory of Social Representations. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Trans men who breastfed described it as meaningful and emotionally rewarding, but also painful and distressing. They often hid their bodies, fed only at home, or stopped to resume testosterone. RN Systematic Review 2025 Parents' experiences of psychotherapeutic support on the neonatal unit: A mixed methods systematic review to inform intervention development for a multicultural population. Nursing in critical care Parents on neonatal units found support interventions helpful for reducing isolation but struggled with time away from their baby and cultural barriers. Most studies failed to record ethnicity, so accessibility for diverse populations remains unknown. Providers need neonatal-specific training. RN Cohort 2024 Quality of life, health perception, learning motivation and behavior of adolescents in an educational institution. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem In 68 adolescents surveyed twice, self-perceived health did not change significantly, although parent-rated social and psychosocial quality of life scores were higher in 2021. RN Qualitative 2024 Paternal well-being perception during childbirth: Experience of prepared Chilean fathers after a prenatal education intervention. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Trained Chilean fathers described feeling calmer and more connected when staff welcomed them, explained procedures, and let them support their partner. Some still felt insecure when instructions were rigid or contradictory. RN Cohort 2024 Parental norms and perceptions regarding use of mobile devices by children under five years. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem Spanish parents who allowed children under five to use smartphones or tablets without time limits reported higher daily use. Using devices to entertain or as reward was also linked to more screen time, and use was higher when the father was absent. RN Other 2025 Creating Perinatal Nursing Care Plans Using ChatGPT: A Pathway to Improve Nursing Care Plans and Reduce Documentation Burden. The Journal of perinatal & neonatal nursing ChatGPT-4 made a care plan for a preterm labor patient that matched the nurses' main priorities. It missed some standardized nursing labels and changed top priorities, so a nurse must review and approve each suggestion. RN Other 2025 Effects of Family Caregiver-Nurse Communication on Family Management and Family Caregiver Uncertainty Regarding the Care of Children With Long-Term Ventilator Dependence. Journal of family nursing Caregiver uncertainty about a child's long-term ventilator care was not linked to caregiver or nurse communication behaviors. Nurse advocacy and role negotiation were linked to mixed family management outcomes, not proven effects. RN Systematic Review 2024 Interventional Strategies to Mitigate Maternal Stress and Enhance Coping Skills During Neonatal Admission Into Intensive Care Units in Low- and Middle-Income Countries: A Scoping Review. Nursing open Across 15 NICU studies in low- and middle-income countries, education, emotional support, family-centred care, kangaroo care and relaxation often reduced mothers' stress and improved coping, though effects varied and one comparison showed no difference. RN Meta-Analysis 2024 Long-term effects of non-pharmacological interventions in adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes: A systematic review and meta-analysis. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing HbA1c was not improved beyond six months in adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes. Non-drug interventions lowered HbA1c at six months, and self-care improved beyond twelve months. RN Other 2024 Knowledge, attitude and practice of puerperal adolescents after an educational intervention on the mini contraceptive pill. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem After nurse-led flipchart teaching, adolescent mothers knew more about the mini-pill and reported better planned use, but fewer said they intended to use it correctly. The single-group before-after design cannot prove the album changed behavior. RN Survey 2024 Psychological Distress in Patients With Recurrent Ectopic Pregnancies: A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open In this group, patients with recurrent ectopic pregnancy usually had distress: 96 of 134 reported mild, moderate or severe symptoms. Journal of pediatric health care : official publication of National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates & Practitioners Adolescent clinical notes contained more suspected or confirmed child abuse and neglect than diagnosis codes: 294 patients versus 111. Primary care providers should review free-text notes, not rely only on coded diagnoses. RN Cohort 2025 Relationship between maternal egg consumption during lactation and the risk of developing egg allergies in 12-month-old infants: A multicenter cohort study. Japan journal of nursing science : JJNS Maternal egg consumption at 1 month after birth was not associated with egg allergy in 12-month-old infants. Infants with eczema at 6 months were more likely to have egg allergy at 12 months. RN Other 2024 Temporal trends in neonatal mortality in Pernambuco. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Pernambuco's neonatal mortality rate fell between 2000 and 2020, with an average annual reduction of 2.9%, but trends varied by health region. This is population surveillance, not evidence that any care change worked. RN Survey 2024 Development and Testing of the Comprehensive Prenatal Care Index: Relationship With Preterm Birth and Small for Gestational Age Across Racial and Ethnic Groups. Journal of midwifery & women's health Comprehensive prenatal care quality, including counseling and screening content, was associated with lower odds of preterm birth across racial and ethnic groups. It did not consistently predict small for gestational age. Visit count alone did not capture care quality. RN Systematic Review 2024 Parental care experience of children with type 1 diabetes: a qualitative meta-synthesis. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Parents of children with type 1 diabetes described exhaustion, fear, guilt, financial strain and school worries. They wanted practical nurse guidance on food, insulin and daily problems, and help sharing caregiving at home. RN Case Report 2024 Negative pressure therapy in pediatric patient with surgical site infection: experience report. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P In a child with an infected abdominal surgical wound, surgery, cleaning, dressings, skin barriers and negative pressure therapy were followed by reduced wound size and wound assessment scores. This single case cannot prove any component worked. RN Other 2024 Spirituality and religiosity in children, adolescents and their families in a vulnerable context: a scoping review. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem 44.7% of parents of children aged 3 months to 5 years reported smartphone or tablet use. Older children used devices more often. Smartphone use was linked to parent education, tablet use to siblings and parent age. RN Systematic Review 2025 An Integrative Review of Exclusive Breast Milk Expression. Journal of midwifery & women's health Exclusive expressing can be common in NICU and preterm families, but insufficient milk supply and early formula use are frequent. Nurses should teach pumping routines early and refer supply or latch problems to a lactation consultant. RN Other 2024 An evolutionary concept analysis of depression in Black mothers. Archives of psychiatric nursing Depression in Black mothers often presents with anger, irritability, and self-blame rather than just sadness. These symptoms are linked to racism and stress but are missing from standard diagnostic criteria, meaning nurses and providers may miss cases if they rely solely on traditional checklists. RN Other 2024 Interactive breastfeeding theory: fawcett's pragmatic adequacy assessment. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P A breastfeeding nursing theory was assessed as practically usable, with assessment tools and protocols for nurses. The evidence maps existing applications, not tested patient outcomes. RN Other 2024 Parents' Postnatal Sense of Security: A Concept Analysis. Nursing open Postpartum parents felt secure when their bodies were not threatened, they felt able to manage parenting, and trusted available support. Midwife encouragement, family help, infant health, and shared discharge decisions were linked to that security. RN Qualitative 2025 Expectations and Perspectives About Infant Feeding of Their First Child Among Rural Women. Journal of obstetric, gynecologic, and neonatal nursing : JOGNN Rural first-time mothers mostly intended to breastfeed but switched to formula soon after birth because they lacked practical breastfeeding knowledge, privacy, and timely support. Nurses heard the same pattern. They wanted help with practical steps, not only health benefits. RN Systematic Review 2025 Impact of Atopic Dermatitis on Adolescents and Families: A Mixed-Method Systematic Review. Journal of advanced nursing Adolescents with atopic dermatitis and their families reported substantial daily-life burden, especially itching, sleep loss, school absence, bullying and emotional distress; the review proposes nursing education and support but does not test it. RN Survey 2024 Factors Associated With Adolescents' Human Papillomavirus Vaccination Intention: A Cross-Sectional Survey. Nursing open Unvaccinated adolescents who felt at higher risk and saw supports like trusted advice, affordability and access reported stronger intention to get HPV vaccination. Knowledge alone was not linked to intention. Many were interested in games or social media. RN RCT 2025 Perceptions of Coping With Breastfeeding Pain: A Secondary Analysis. Journal of midwifery & women's health Thirty of 57 parents said coping with breastfeeding pain felt different, describing it as new, time-limited, and tied to infant care; some feared failure. Pain scores did not differ between these parents and others. RN Qualitative 2025 Playing the Admission Game: Young People and Their Parents Negotiating Access or Discharge to Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Services. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc Young people and parents described little choice or control over admission, discharge and care in adolescent inpatient mental health services. They said physical risk and visible distress mattered more than reported emotional distress, and families often felt they had to advocate hard to get care. SLP RN Pilot 2025 Early Life Stress, DNA Methylation of NR3C1 and HSD11B2 , and Oral Feeding Skill Development in Preterm Infants : A Pilot Study. Advances in neonatal care : official journal of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses In 10 preterm infants, acute NICU stress and higher methylation at certain stress-related gene sites tracked with poorer oral-feeding engagement and stability and slower transition to full oral feeds; chronic stress did not track with feeding scores. RN Pilot 2025 Implementation of a Pilot Study in Adolescent Health Care Transition Program for Chronic Granulomatous Disease: A Single Institution Experience. Journal of pediatric health care : official publication of National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates & Practitioners A nurse-led transition education program was acceptable to young people with chronic granulomatous disease, but knowledge scores did not clearly improve. It identified topics, formats, and gaps, not evidence the program works. RN Systematic Review 2024 Strategies for expanding vaccination coverage in children in Brazil: systematic literature review. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Bolsa Família conditionalities did not improve child vaccination coverage overall; reminders raised completeness, and home-visit monitoring helped identify unvaccinated children. OT SLP RN Systematic Review 2025 Oral Health Care: A Systematic Review of Clinical Practice Guidelines. Nursing & health sciences Nine oral-care guidelines support twice-daily fluoride toothpaste, spitting without rinsing after brushing, risk-based dental checks, and assisted mouth care. They do not test patient outcomes, so treat them as practice recommendations. RN Qualitative 2024 Narratives of sex workers: intimate partner violence and coping strategies. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Six sex workers described intimate partner violence, especially humiliation, verbal abuse and control, with physical violence and attempted femicide also present. They coped by keeping work and relationships separate, avoiding partners who knew their work, and relying on themselves rather than social support. RN RCT 2024 Effectiveness of the modified Seldinger technique for peripheral central catheter in newborns: a randomized clinical trial. Revista brasileira de enfermagem In newborns needing central venous access, modified Seldinger PICC insertion did not improve placement success, reduce immediate complications, or reduce bloodstream infection versus conventional insertion; pain, time, and attempts were also similar. RN Narrative Review 2025 Contributing Factors to the Rise in Adolescent Anxiety and Associated Mental Health Disorders: A Narrative Review of Current Literature. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc Adolescent anxiety is rising, and this review links it to biology, social media, family strain, school pressure, extracurricular load, and political or climate worry. RN Narrative Review 2025 Proactive Management of Lactation in the Birth Hospital to Ensure Long-Term Milk Production and Sustainable Breastfeeding. Journal of midwifery & women's health New parents with lactation risk factors are advised to use early breastfeeding plans, skin-to-skin contact, hand expression, and frequent hospital-grade pumping to support milk supply. This is expert guidance, not tested treatment. RN Survey 2025 Factors Influencing the Demoralisation Syndrome of Post-Operative Patients With Breast Cancer: A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open Among 237 post-operative breast cancer patients, 37.6% had moderate to severe demoralisation. Lower income, later cancer stage, recurrence, poorer relationship quality and worse body image were linked to higher demoralisation scores. RN Survey 2025 Predicting the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile of Pregnant Women Based on Their Health Literacy Levels: A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open Pregnant women with higher health literacy reported more health-promoting behaviours.
