RN Pilot 2025 Use of Text Messaging to Educate Family Caregivers of Children With Asthma. Journal for specialists in pediatric nursing : JSPN Caregivers who received three weeks of asthma text messages scored higher on a 17-to-85 knowledge test, but only eight completed both surveys. Confidence scores did not change clearly, and satisfaction was high among the 12 who answered. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Rural adolescents and young people with cancer described shock and confusion at diagnosis, lost friendships, stopped school, work and leisure, and found travel for treatment exhausting. Distance to care could make them want to stop treatment. RN RCT 2025 Effectiveness of e-share intervention for caregivers of elderly people after stroke: a pragmatic randomized trial. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem The nurse-led caregiver programme did not improve overall caregiving ability or burden compared with usual care. Both groups improved. The intervention group reported better help with administering medications. RN Survey 2025 Health Literacy and Self-Efficacy in Parents of Toddlers-A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open Parents of toddlers in this Norwegian survey reported high health literacy and self-efficacy. Higher self-efficacy correlated with better health literacy across all nine domains, with the strongest link seen in understanding health information well enough to know what to do. These are self-reported experiences, not evidence of a treatment effect. RN Other 2025 Contribution of the Brief Family Strength-Oriented Therapeutic Conversation Intervention to Early Childhood Sleep Health: A Quasi-Experimental Study. Journal of family nursing 57 caregivers of infants with sleep problems reported better sleep beliefs, family support, and quality of life after a nurse-led family conversation intervention. Night-time sleep habits and longest night sleep also improved, but there was no control group. RN Other 2025 Communication Interventions for Families with Parental Cancer With Dependents: Findings from a Scoping Review. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing For nurses, existing family communication interventions for parents with cancer often target the parent or child separately, occur at diagnosis or end of life, and rarely test coparent or family communication outcomes. Nursing in critical care NICU diaries are increasingly used, but their formats and effects vary widely. A pilot journal trial found no clear difference in parent anxiety or depression, while other studies reported reduced stress; evidence is too limited to confirm benefit. RN Systematic Review 2025 Effects of digital health interventions in women with high-risk pregnancies: a systematic review. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) Across seven trials, digital health tools for high-risk pregnancy did not improve primary blood pressure or birth outcomes. Some secondary anxiety, satisfaction, and illness-perception results were better with the tools. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) Working adolescents who received six health education sessions scored higher on healthy lifestyle behaviours right after the programme, but not six weeks later. Self-esteem scores differed between groups only at six weeks, with lower scores indicating better self-esteem. RN Qualitative 2025 "I have to be strong": A qualitative study of parental bereavement experiences in Uganda following the death of their baby. Women and birth : journal of the Australian College of Midwives Bereaved parents in Uganda described avoiding memory-making practices like holding the baby or keeping photos, finding them distressing. They relied on family and community financial support to cover funeral costs, rather than formal health service bereavement care. RN Survey 2025 Do Adolescents Living With HIV in Kenya Know Their Viral Load Results? Record Audit and Adolescent Exit Surveys in Kiambu and Nakuru Counties: A Cross-Sectional Study. The drama programme did not clearly shift adolescents' internal health control compared with usual school activities, but it increased recognition of smoking harms and lowered positive perceptions. RN Systematic Review 2025 Child and Family Centred Care: A Three-Phased Principle-Based Concept Analysis. Journal of advanced nursing Child and Family Centred Care is defined as placing the child at the core of holistic care, distinct from Family Centred Care. It rests on four pillars: collaboration, participation, communication, and dignity. The concept is partially mature, with gaps in neonatal and cultural contexts. It covers fears about equipment failure, financial strain, and confusing advice from staff. Families understood every question, and expert nurses agreed the items measure what matters. RN Qualitative 2025 Paediatric Pain Management Experiences of Parents of Children in Botswana Referral Hospitals. Nursing open Hospitalised children's parents/guardians in Botswana described pain care as inconsistent. Some nurses responded well, others delayed or gave conflicting information. Parents wanted urgent relief for child-reported pain, trusted providers, and were ready to help assess and comfort their child. Journal of human lactation : official journal of International Lactation Consultant Association Colostrum fat, carbohydrate, and kcal did not differ between mothers with and without type 1 diabetes; protein changed over time. Antenatal colostrum had higher protein than formula and resembled day 1 postnatal colostrum. RN Systematic Review 2025 Breastfeeding counseling in rooming-in care: a scoping review. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Rooming-in breastfeeding counseling was associated with better breastfeeding establishment and maintenance, less formula use, and fewer infant health problems. It also reduced the belief that milk was insufficient, though the review did not test a specific counseling protocol. RN Qualitative 2025 A qualitative exploration of perceptions of the aetiology of preterm birth among pregnant Black women. Midwifery Pregnant Black women described preterm birth risk as tied to doing too much, emotional labour of racism, and relationship burdens. This is not evidence of causes. It shows what patients may believe and how maternity nurses can listen better. RN Systematic Review 2025 Provider-Led Interventions to Reduce Congenital Cytomegalovirus. Journal of midwifery & women's health Pregnant patients want CMV risk-reduction education. Brief videos, handouts, or provider discussion improved knowledge and risk-reduction behaviors. Screening and treatments showed mixed results; valacyclovir and higher-dose HIG need more study. RN Qualitative 2025 Family management of common sleep disturbances among children with autism: Implications for pediatric nursing research and practice. Journal of pediatric nursing Caregivers describe managing sleep in children with autism as a balancing act between the child’s sensory needs and the family’s own sleep. Night wakings were most common, but often went unnoticed by parents if the child stayed in bed. Screening tools may miss these disturbances. RN Systematic Review 2025 Barriers and facilitating strategies for healthcare access and reception for transgender children and adolescents. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Reported barriers included low clinician knowledge, hostile interactions, and assuming the young person is heterosexual. Reported strategies included asking pronouns at admission, documenting them, apologizing for mistakes, and ongoing training. RN Qualitative 2025 Ways to Cope With Paternal Postpartum Depression From Iranian Fathers' Perspective: A Qualitative Study. Nursing open Iranian fathers with postpartum depression described coping through work, family, and spouse support, hope that problems pass, and parenting and communication training. These are experiences, not tested treatments. RN Survey 2025 Adverse childhood experiences among high-risk children living in socially vulnerable areas. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Adverse childhood experiences were found in 18.6% of high-risk children in vulnerable areas. Violence, divorce, substance abuse, income problems and poor infrastructure were common. 20 children had two to five events, 11 had six to nine, and four had more than 10. RN Qualitative 2025 Uncertainties and contradictions experienced by women with COVID-19 during childbirth/birth and the postpartum period. Some found staff caring, but others reported being left alone, denied companions, ignored birth plans, and struggling with breastfeeding. Most Arabic-language YouTube videos on child tooth brushing scored moderate total quality, but had poor reliability and low overall quality. Creator credentials did not guarantee quality, so nurses should vet videos before sharing them. RN Survey 2025 Does Grit Matter? RN Systematic Review 2025 Experiences of Family Caregivers of Children Aged 1-23 Months Who Have Received Pediatric Palliative Care: A Systematic Review With Qualitative Metasynthesis. They reported gaps in staff training, communication, and discharge instructions, while appreciating supportive nurses. SLP RN Survey 2025 The Roles of Parental Psychological Flexibility, Mindfulness, and Self-Compassion in Affecting Mental Health and Self-Efficacy in Parents of Children With or Without Hearing Loss: An Analysis of the Parallel Mediation Model. Nursing open Parents of children with and without congenital hearing loss reported that higher stress, depression, and anxiety were linked to lower parenting self-efficacy, and that lower psychological flexibility, mindful awareness, and self-compassion were also linked to lower self-efficacy. The American journal of maternal child nursing Primary care nurses should assess 8-12 feeds or expressions in 24 hours, cue-based feeding, safe skin-to-skin, detailed feeding history, and delayed milk-production risk factors at newborn visits. RN Other 2025 Maternal identity measurement based on the experiences of mothers with infants: a methodological study. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) A 17-item questionnaire for Korean mothers of infants measures maternal identity across warmth, effort, indifference and preparation. It was tested in 300 mothers but has not been tested for clinical care. RN Other 2025 Effectiveness of passive ankle pump exercise on lower limb swelling in neonates with a peripherally inserted central catheter: a quasi-experimental study.
