RN Qualitative 2024 Stakeholder Perspectives on Research, Policy and Practice Priorities to Increase Human Milk Feeding Rates in the United Kingdom. Journal of human lactation : official journal of International Lactation Consultant Association Stakeholders said UK human milk feeding support starts too late and is underfunded. They wanted earlier antenatal education, funded peer groups, family inclusion, and less formula advertising. These are views, not tested changes. RN Qualitative 2024 Telelactation Within the Landscape of Breastfeeding Support: Experiences of Latina Parents. Journal of human lactation : official journal of International Lactation Consultant Association Latina parents viewed telelactation as a high-quality but burdensome option, using it only after exhausting easier resources like internet searches. They preferred starting with direct messaging or FAQs before escalating to video calls, and wanted their pediatricians to endorse the service. RN Qualitative 2024 Changes in Self-Efficacy During COVID-19 Among Adolescents With Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus: A Qualitative Study. Journal of pediatric health care : official publication of National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates & Practitioners Many adolescents and mothers reported higher confidence in diabetes self-management during the pandemic, especially with CGMs and pumps. Ask families about device alarms, trend data, failures, and conflict, not just glucose numbers. RN Cohort 2024 Factors associated with preventable infant mortality in 2020: a Brazilian population-based study. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Preventable neonatal deaths were linked to birth in the North or Northeast, home birth, prematurity, and multiple pregnancies. Post-neonatal deaths were linked to low maternal education, non-hospital death locations, and brown or yellow race. Cesarean section was associated with lower risk for both groups. RN Cohort 2024 Screen Time, Outdoor Play, and Sleep Routines in Early Childhood: Longitudinal Associations with Parenting Stress during Toddler to Preschool Years. Journal of pediatric health care : official publication of National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates & Practitioners Higher parenting stress at 18 months had small links to more background TV and fewer TV-time rules at age 3. It did not link to device-use hours, outdoor play, or other sleep routines. RN Survey 2025 The effect of illness uncertainty and self-efficacy on the perception of shared decision-making among parents of infants in the neonatal intensive care unit. Nursing in critical care Parents who visited the NICU every day reported lower perception of shared decision-making than parents who did not visit every day. Higher parenting confidence was linked to higher perception. This is an association, not proof that visits or confidence cause it. RN Qualitative 2024 Enhancing early bonding between mothers and preterm infants: findings from a Multicentre Qualitative Study of Nurses. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem Neonatal nurses described stabilising the mother's physical and mental health before facilitating bonding, using repeated education, accompaniment during visits, and involving family members. Barriers included maternal fear, limited family support, nurse workload, and hospital infrastructure issues like lack of waiting rooms. RN Cohort 2024 Relationship Between Family and Friend Support and Psychological Distress in Adolescents. Journal of pediatric health care : official publication of National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates & Practitioners Adolescents who felt more emotional support from family or friends reported fewer depressive and anxiety symptoms. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P A Libras video app version was rated usable by 5 IT experts, but 9 of 10 deaf adolescents surveyed had never seen the health card and no adolescent outcomes were tested. RN Other 2024 Temporal trend in fetal mortality according to two death avoidability classifications. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Fetal mortality in Recife stayed flat from 2010 to 2021. Most deaths were classified as avoidable, mainly by care during pregnancy. The list used changed how many deaths were counted as avoidable. RN Cohort 2025 Characteristics of oral mucosal pressure injuries in children with orotracheal intubation in intensive care units: An observational study. Nursing in critical care In 187 PICU children with oral endotracheal tubes, oral mucosal pressure injury occurred in 84 (44.92%). Longer intubation, prone ventilation, dental pads, low albumin, mild hypothermia and critical illness were associated with OMPI. RN Survey 2025 Exploring the Relationship Between Cyberbullying and Technology Addiction in Adolescents. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) In 556 Turkish adolescents, higher technology addiction scores were weakly linked to more cyber victimization and cyberbullying. Sending inappropriate videos, receiving humiliating comments, and encountering threats were linked to higher victimization scores. RN Qualitative 2024 Giving new meaning to the impact of touch in Shantala massage: mothers' perceptions of maternal and child well-being. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Mothers of infants initially feared their child would reject touch and nudity. After learning and practising Shantala massage, they described infants relaxing, sleeping, accepting touch, and they reported greater bonding and less anxiety. These are experiences, not proof the massage works. RN Qualitative 2025 "I Am Forever Changed": A Phenomenological Study of the Existential Experiences of Parents of Children and Young People With Complex Care Needs. Journal of advanced nursing Parents of children with complex care needs described constant vigilance, guilt, exhaustion and loss of self. They valued nurses who listened and recognised these feelings. RN Cohort 2025 Predictive model for the risk of paediatric intensive care utilization in children with medical complexity: A longitudinal retrospective cohort study. Nursing in critical care 47.2% of children with medical complexity were admitted to intensive care over six years. Malignancy, surgery, transplant, home devices, comorbidities and more health contacts raised risk. Younger age and higher maternal education lowered it. RN Other 2025 The Effect of Maternal Oxytocin Induction during Birth on Early Neonatal Pain and Stress: A Quasi-Experimental Study. Biological research for nursing Newborns whose mothers received synthetic oxytocin during labor had higher pain and stress scores during drying, injection and blood glucose testing. Scores were similar only before drying. Oxytocin dose was not measured. RN Cohort 2025 Disordered Eating in Early Adolescence: Disparities Among Minoritised Youth. Journal of advanced nursing Gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and Hispanic early adolescents were more likely to report weight worry, weight-control behaviors, and binge eating than their peers. RN Qualitative 2025 Experiences of parents with very premature-born children at risk of neurodevelopmental disorders: A qualitative study. Nursing in critical care Parents of babies born very or extremely prematurely described not being told what to expect, lacking emotional support, and having to chase early-care referrals. These gaps left families feeling stressed and unsupported. RN Survey 2024 Prevalence and factors associated with postpartum depression among Bhutanese mothers: a cross-sectional study. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) Nearly 15% of Bhutanese mothers screened positive for postpartum depression. Risk was higher in those with poor birth experiences, increased stress, negative body image changes, or conflict with in-laws. Higher income and later gestational age lowered risk. RN Systematic Review 2024 Parents' Experiences of Accessing Mental Health Services for Their Adolescents With Mental Health Challenges: A Scoping Review. Journal of clinical nursing Parents describe fragmented mental health services, waits up to 18 months, and feeling unheard. Many bring adolescents to emergency departments for care; clear communication, family involvement, and privacy were valued. RN Survey 2024 Neonatal factors associated with early weaning in a municipality in Bahia, Brazil: a cross-sectional study. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Babies using pacifiers or bottles were 18.96 times more likely to stop exclusive breastfeeding before six months among 180 mothers; babies given other milk in the maternity ward were 4.44 times more likely. RN Cohort 2024 Influence of caregiver-nurse communication on quality of life and clinical outcomes of children with long-term ventilator dependence. Journal of pediatric nursing In children on long-term ventilators, nurse-caregiver communication behaviors were linked with both better and worse post-discharge quality of life and infections. Nurse asking questions was linked with better quality of life; caregiver listening and some role negotiation were linked with poorer outcomes. RN RCT 2025 Music and Sleep Hygiene Interventions for Pregnancy-Related Insomnia: An Online Randomized Controlled Trial. Journal of midwifery & women's health Sleep hygiene instructions and music listening both improved sleep quality and reduced insomnia severity in pregnant women. Adding music to sleep hygiene advice did not produce better outcomes than sleep hygiene alone. RN Systematic Review 2025 Nurse-Involved Policy, Systems, and Environmental School-Based Interventions for Supporting Healthy Nutrition and Obesity Prevention Among Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review. The Journal of school nursing : the official publication of the National Association of School Nurses Nurse-involved school programs that changed policy, systems, or environments showed mixed effects. PT SLP RN Systematic Review 2025 Patient follow-up after discharge from the paediatric intensive care unit: A scoping review. Nursing in critical care PICU discharge follow-up for children was scattered and mostly research-driven. Multidisciplinary teams were rare, and no single validated score captured physical, cognitive, emotional, social and family needs. RN Survey 2025 Social Media Addiction and Cognitive Behavioral Physical Activity Among Adolescent Girls: A Cross-Sectional Study. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) Adolescent girls who used the internet two hours or more daily had higher social media addiction and lower physical activity attitude scores. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Most caregivers reported their child had fallen at home, yet two-thirds had never received safety advice. Falls happened even when an adult was present, usually the mother, and the head was the most injured body part. RN Other 2024 Vein Visualisation Technology for Peripheral Intravenous Access in Paediatric Patients: A Clinical Decision-Making Tool. Nursing open Paediatric IV device choice in a specialised team was linked to age, BMI and access site: near-infrared was more likely to help first-attempt success over age 2, transilluminator for underweight under 2. It is a decision tool, not proof of improved success. RN Cohort 2024 Lifetime History of Head or Traumatic Brain Injury Before Age 9 and School Outcomes: Results From the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study. The Journal of school health Head injury before age 9 was linked to poorer grades, grade drops, discipline issues, and special education, mainly in boys. TBI before age 9 showed poorer grades and grade drops; in girls, it was linked only to recent grade drops. RN Qualitative 2024 Experiences and meanings of trans men about breastfeeding in light of the Theory of Social Representations. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Trans men who breastfed described it as meaningful and emotionally rewarding, but also painful and distressing. They often hid their bodies, fed only at home, or stopped to resume testosterone. RN Systematic Review 2025 Parents' experiences of psychotherapeutic support on the neonatal unit: A mixed methods systematic review to inform intervention development for a multicultural population. Nursing in critical care Parents on neonatal units found support interventions helpful for reducing isolation but struggled with time away from their baby and cultural barriers. Most studies failed to record ethnicity, so accessibility for diverse populations remains unknown. Providers need neonatal-specific training. RN Cohort 2024 Quality of life, health perception, learning motivation and behavior of adolescents in an educational institution. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem In 68 adolescents surveyed twice, self-perceived health did not change significantly, although parent-rated social and psychosocial quality of life scores were higher in 2021. RN Qualitative 2024 Paternal well-being perception during childbirth: Experience of prepared Chilean fathers after a prenatal education intervention. Some still felt insecure when instructions were rigid or contradictory. RN Cohort 2024 Parental norms and perceptions regarding use of mobile devices by children under five years. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem Spanish parents who allowed children under five to use smartphones or tablets without time limits reported higher daily use. Using devices to entertain or as reward was also linked to more screen time, and use was higher when the father was absent. RN Other 2025 Creating Perinatal Nursing Care Plans Using ChatGPT: A Pathway to Improve Nursing Care Plans and Reduce Documentation Burden. The Journal of perinatal & neonatal nursing ChatGPT-4 made a care plan for a preterm labor patient that matched the nurses' main priorities. It missed some standardized nursing labels and changed top priorities, so a nurse must review and approve each suggestion. RN Other 2025 Effects of Family Caregiver-Nurse Communication on Family Management and Family Caregiver Uncertainty Regarding the Care of Children With Long-Term Ventilator Dependence. Journal of family nursing Caregiver uncertainty about a child's long-term ventilator care was not linked to caregiver or nurse communication behaviors. Nurse advocacy and role negotiation were linked to mixed family management outcomes, not proven effects. RN Systematic Review 2024 Interventional Strategies to Mitigate Maternal Stress and Enhance Coping Skills During Neonatal Admission Into Intensive Care Units in Low- and Middle-Income Countries: A Scoping Review. Nursing open Across 15 NICU studies in low- and middle-income countries, education, emotional support, family-centred care, kangaroo care and relaxation often reduced mothers' stress and improved coping, though effects varied and one comparison showed no difference. RN Meta-Analysis 2024 Long-term effects of non-pharmacological interventions in adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes: A systematic review and meta-analysis. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing HbA1c was not improved beyond six months in adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes. Non-drug interventions lowered HbA1c at six months, and self-care improved beyond twelve months. RN Other 2024 Knowledge, attitude and practice of puerperal adolescents after an educational intervention on the mini contraceptive pill. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem After nurse-led flipchart teaching, adolescent mothers knew more about the mini-pill and reported better planned use, but fewer said they intended to use it correctly. The single-group before-after design cannot prove the album changed behavior. RN Survey 2024 Psychological Distress in Patients With Recurrent Ectopic Pregnancies: A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open In this group, patients with recurrent ectopic pregnancy usually had distress: 96 of 134 reported mild, moderate or severe symptoms. Age, education, children, miscarriages, insurance and money pressure were linked to higher distress. RN Survey 2025 Contraceptive Intention, Religious Attitudes and Sources of Spirituality in Married Muslim Women: A Descriptive Correlational Study in Türkiye. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) Intent differed by age, previous delivery method, sex of existing children and contraceptive method used. RN RCT 2025 Implementing Resourcefulness Training© with Parent Caregivers of Children Dependent on Medical Technology During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Lessons Learned from a Randomized Controlled Trial. Clinical nursing research Telehealth caregiver training for parents of technology-dependent children needed constant changes: virtual visits, text reminders, online logs, and preferred contact times. This paper reports delivery problems, not whether the training worked. RN Qualitative 2025 Perinatal Loneliness and Isolation Early in the COVID-19 Pandemic in New York City: A Qualitative Study. Journal of midwifery & women's health People who gave birth early in the pandemic in New York City described birthing and recovering alone as a major stressor. They also described postpartum isolation as worsening loneliness and stress. Some described partners being home as a silver lining. RN Survey 2024 Prevalence of risk factors among adolescents who attempted suicide: a cross-sectional study. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Among 140 adolescents treated for suicide attempts, family conflicts, previous attempts, and self-harm were the most common risk factors. Mental disorders were present in over half. These findings guide assessment priorities but do not prove that targeting these factors prevents future attempts. RN Other 2025 Estimating the Prevalence of Child Abuse and Neglect Among Adolescents in Primary Care Through Diagnoses Codes and Free-Text EHR Clinical Notes. Journal of pediatric health care : official publication of National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates & Practitioners Adolescent clinical notes contained more suspected or confirmed child abuse and neglect than diagnosis codes: 294 patients versus 111. Primary care providers should review free-text notes, not rely only on coded diagnoses. RN Cohort 2025 Relationship between maternal egg consumption during lactation and the risk of developing egg allergies in 12-month-old infants: A multicenter cohort study. Japan journal of nursing science : JJNS Maternal egg consumption at 1 month after birth was not associated with egg allergy in 12-month-old infants. Infants with eczema at 6 months were more likely to have egg allergy at 12 months. ← Previous PAGE 13 OF 25 Next →
