They co-created a documentary to disseminate prevention messages via social media, emphasizing peer-led engagement and visual storytelling over traditional clinical advice. RN Other 2024 Temporal trends in neonatal mortality in Pernambuco. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Pernambuco's neonatal mortality rate fell between 2000 and 2020, with an average annual reduction of 2.9%, but trends varied by health region. This is population surveillance, not evidence that any care change worked. RN Survey 2024 Development and Testing of the Comprehensive Prenatal Care Index: Relationship With Preterm Birth and Small for Gestational Age Across Racial and Ethnic Groups. Journal of midwifery & women's health Comprehensive prenatal care quality, including counseling and screening content, was associated with lower odds of preterm birth across racial and ethnic groups. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P In a child with an infected abdominal surgical wound, surgery, cleaning, dressings, skin barriers and negative pressure therapy were followed by reduced wound size and wound assessment scores. This single case cannot prove any component worked. RN Other 2024 Spirituality and religiosity in children, adolescents and their families in a vulnerable context: a scoping review. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Included studies described spirituality and religiosity as sources of resilience, comfort and coping for children, adolescents and families in vulnerable settings. This maps associations, not tested care outcomes. RN Systematic Review 2024 Transition to family parenting in the face of the first child: a scoping review. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Transition to first-time parenthood is characterized by a mix of facilitating conditions like social support and hindering factors like uncertainty, leading to decreased marital satisfaction and increased conflict. Archives of psychiatric nursing Depression in Black mothers often presents with anger, irritability, and self-blame rather than just sadness. These symptoms are linked to racism and stress but are missing from standard diagnostic criteria, meaning nurses and providers may miss cases if they rely solely on traditional checklists. RN Other 2024 Interactive breastfeeding theory: fawcett's pragmatic adequacy assessment. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P A breastfeeding nursing theory was assessed as practically usable, with assessment tools and protocols for nurses. The evidence maps existing applications, not tested patient outcomes. RN Other 2024 Parents' Postnatal Sense of Security: A Concept Analysis. Journal of advanced nursing Adolescents with atopic dermatitis and their families reported substantial daily-life burden, especially itching, sleep loss, school absence, bullying and emotional distress; the review proposes nursing education and support but does not test it. RN Survey 2024 Factors Associated With Adolescents' Human Papillomavirus Vaccination Intention: A Cross-Sectional Survey. Nursing open Unvaccinated adolescents who felt at higher risk and saw supports like trusted advice, affordability and access reported stronger intention to get HPV vaccination. Nursing & health sciences Nine oral-care guidelines support twice-daily fluoride toothpaste, spitting without rinsing after brushing, risk-based dental checks, and assisted mouth care. They do not test patient outcomes, so treat them as practice recommendations. RN Qualitative 2024 Narratives of sex workers: intimate partner violence and coping strategies. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Six sex workers described intimate partner violence, especially humiliation, verbal abuse and control, with physical violence and attempted femicide also present. They coped by keeping work and relationships separate, avoiding partners who knew their work, and relying on themselves rather than social support. RN RCT 2024 Effectiveness of the modified Seldinger technique for peripheral central catheter in newborns: a randomized clinical trial. Revista brasileira de enfermagem In newborns needing central venous access, modified Seldinger PICC insertion did not improve placement success, reduce immediate complications, or reduce bloodstream infection versus conventional insertion; pain, time, and attempts were also similar. RN Narrative Review 2025 Contributing Factors to the Rise in Adolescent Anxiety and Associated Mental Health Disorders: A Narrative Review of Current Literature. This is expert guidance, not tested treatment. RN Survey 2025 Factors Influencing the Demoralisation Syndrome of Post-Operative Patients With Breast Cancer: A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open Among 237 post-operative breast cancer patients, 37.6% had moderate to severe demoralisation. Lower income, later cancer stage, recurrence, poorer relationship quality and worse body image were linked to higher demoralisation scores. RN Survey 2025 Predicting the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile of Pregnant Women Based on Their Health Literacy Levels: A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open Pregnant women with higher health literacy reported more health-promoting behaviours. Lower appraisal and physical activity scores suggest where nurses might focus prenatal education, but the study did not test whether this changes behaviour. RN Qualitative 2025 Parents' Need for Support From Family and Friends During Their Preterm Infants' Hospitalisation: A Cross-National Qualitative Study. Journal of advanced nursing Parents of preterm infants in NICUs needed social, emotional and practical support from family and friends. Their needs changed over time, and staff attitudes and visiting rules shaped whether that support arrived. RN Pilot 2025 Examining the Feasibility and Acceptability of Identifying Signs of Social Anxiety, in University Students Aged 18-25, While Watching 360° Immersive Films. International journal of mental health nursing Seven healthy students watched immersive anxiety scenarios in VR headsets. Heart rate did not correlate with self-reported anxiety scores, but it rose significantly in the ten seconds after specific social events. Participants found the headsets comfortable but reported technical glitches and difficulty knowing where to look. RN Systematic Review 2024 Dietary interventions to reduce heavy metal exposure in antepartum and postpartum women: a systematic review. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) Calcium and jujube fruit lowered some heavy metals, probiotic yogurt prevented mercury and arsenic from rising, and fish advice and grocery gift cards helped women choose lower-mercury fish, but vitamin D did not lower heavy metals and raised lead. Evidence is limited by biased trials. RN Survey 2025 HIV Vulnerability Typologies Among Adolescent Girls and Young Women in Lesotho: A Population-Based, Cross-Sectional, Latent Class Analysis. The Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care : JANAC In Lesotho, within each age group from 15 to 29, the high-vulnerability group had higher HIV prevalence than low-vulnerability or parous groups. The high-risk profile clustered several sexual behaviors, not one single risk. RN Cohort 2025 Association Between a Family Caregiver's Relationship to Persons With Dementia and Cardiovascular Disease by Race and Ethnicity: A Secondary Analysis of the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Data. Western journal of nursing research Spouse caregivers of people with dementia had higher rates of diabetes, stroke, heart disease, and heart attacks than adult children or other relatives. Depression and smoking patterns varied by race. This is observational data; it does not prove caregiving caused these conditions. RN Survey 2025 Parent-Adolescent Communication, Self-Efficacy, and Self-Management of Type 1 Diabetes in Adolescents. The science of diabetes self-management and care Adolescents with type 1 diabetes who reported more confidence in managing diabetes and more open parent-adolescent communication also reported better diabetes self-management and greater engagement in managing their care. This cross-sectional survey cannot show cause. RN Cohort 2025 Association Between Antibiotic Exposure During Pregnancy and Postpartum Depressive Symptoms: The Japan Environment and Children's Study. Research in nursing & health Taking antibiotics during pregnancy did not remain linked to more postpartum depressive symptoms once other factors were considered. The small apparent link later after delivery may reflect distress during pregnancy, not the antibiotics themselves. RN Survey 2024 Factors associated with future fertility intentions among Korean women of childbearing age in Seoul: a cross-sectional study. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) Among 496 women in Seoul, 25.6% intended future children. Intention was associated with working 41-50 hours weekly, believing children after marriage are necessary, children strengthen relationships, or motherhood is sacred. Never receiving sexual education was associated with lower intention. RN Qualitative 2025 Maternity behind and beyond bars: analysis from the perspective of protection bioethics. Revista brasileira de enfermagem In two Brazilian prison units, mothers and staff described mother-child spaces as lacking basic hygiene, supplies and social contact. These gaps were described as worsening illness, psychological harm and maternal-child vulnerability. RN Other 2025 Health of quilombola children as a challenge for the Sustainable Development Goals: a scoping review. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Evidence on quilombola children's health clustered around nutrition, with high food insecurity, anemia, and barriers to primary care. Across 18 studies, poverty, sanitation, and access were linked to child health. PT RN Other 2025 Pain management in hospitalized infants: recommendations for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Revista brasileira de enfermagem All infants in a Brazilian NICU had painful procedures, but none were assessed with a pain scale, only 13.7% had documented pain, and only 2.8% were reassessed. Breastfeeding and skin-to-skin care were common documented interventions. RN Other 2025 Micro and macropolitical determinants for non-vaccination against COVID-19 in pregnant women in Belo Horizonte. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Pregnant and postpartum women who did not work, found prenatal care hard to access, or lacked support were more often unvaccinated. Nurses can ask about these barriers in maternity care. RN Other 2025 Self-harm in the two years of greatest restrictions during the covid-19 pandemic: a cross-sectional study. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Self-harm notifications in São Paulo during the pandemic concentrated in adolescent and young adult women, mostly at home, often poisoning, and frequently repeated; most were referred to health services, but not all to specialized mental health. RN Qualitative 2025 Exploring the Use of Sea Swimming as an Intervention With Young People With Mental Health Challenges: A Qualitative Descriptive Study. International journal of mental health nursing Young people in mental health inpatient care described sea swimming as more engaging than talk therapy, citing immediate calm and a sense of bravery from overcoming the cold. They valued the informal group setting for reducing power dynamics with staff. RN Other 2025 Adolescents and parents experiencing parental cancer: construction of a nursing intervention model. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P A proposed nursing model uses separate parent, adolescent and family sessions to help families facing parental cancer discuss cancer, feelings, coping and future planning. It has not been tested. RN Other 2025 Acculturation Impacts on Depressive Symptoms Among Hispanic Sexual Minority Youth and Hispanic Non-sexual Minority Youth. Issues in mental health nursing For Hispanic adolescents, their own American and Hispanic cultural values were associated with fewer depressive symptoms over 36 months, except in sexual minority youth, where the sample was small and the associations were not clear. RN Qualitative 2025 Perceptions of Mental Health Challenges and Needs of Indonesian Adolescents: A Descriptive Qualitative Study. International journal of mental health nursing Indonesian adolescents described emotional turmoil, bullying, academic pressure and family conflict, and wanted school mental health programmes with face-to-face local experts, peer support and parent involvement. RN Cohort 2025 Lessons Learned in Virtual Launch of an Antenatal Opioid Exposure Study During the COVID-19 Pandemic. Nursing research 234 of 310 infants in an antenatal opioid exposure study attended the 6-month visit; control infants attended more often than opioid-exposed infants (83% vs 72%). Coordinators used plain-language MRI explanations, non-stigmatizing language, and flexible visits. RN Systematic Review 2024 Facilitators and barriers to parent-child communication in pediatric palliative care: An integrative review. International journal of nursing sciences In pediatric palliative care, denial, fear, and mutual protection were described as barriers to honest parent-child talk about illness and death. Memory activities, play, and team guidance were described as supports. OT RN Qualitative 2025 The school environment in the experience of children with special health needs: a qualitative study. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Children with special health needs valued school for normality and friendship, but symptoms, absences, stigma, and pandemic risk made participation hard. They used pacing, staff support, and self-care to keep going. RN RCT 2025 The Effect of Online Infant Care Education and Postpartum Counseling Based on Meleis's Transition Theory on Mothers' Self-Esteem and Infant Health: A Randomized Controlled Trial. Nursing & health sciences First-time mothers who received online baby-care training before birth and weekly support for three months had higher parenting confidence, more exclusive breastfeeding, fewer gas, rash, thrush and congestion problems, and lower hospital admission rates in the first and third months than mothers receiving routine care. RN RCT 2025 Effects of an Online Theory-Based Educational Programme for Primiparous Women on Improving Breastfeeding-Related Outcomes: A Randomised Controlled Trial. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences At 6 months, the online breastfeeding programme did not show a clear difference in exclusive breastfeeding.
