RN Systematic Review 2025 Educational or Behavioural Interventions to Improve Long-Term Haemodialysis Vascular Access Self-Management: A Systematic Review. Journal of renal care Education helped people on haemodialysis care for their vascular access, improving self-management, knowledge and access checks. Evidence is limited and came from small, mostly non-randomised studies, so it supports nursing education but does not prove a specific programme works. RN Pilot 2025 Exploring the impact of a pain assessment information visualization tool on provider-patient pain discussion with limited English proficiency Hmong patients. Patient education and counseling In Hmong patients with limited English proficiency, interpreter-supported use of a visual pain tool before and during visits was accompanied by more patient pain details (207 vs 136 mentions) and shorter pain discussions (12.39 vs 19.56 minutes). RN Cohort 2025 Nurse Practitioner Care Environments and Provider Shortages Among Patients With Multiple Chronic Conditions. Research in nursing & health Better nurse practitioner work environments lowered hospitalization odds in areas without provider shortages, but not in shortage areas. Improving practice support alone did not reduce hospitalizations where staffing is critically low. RN Cohort 2025 Urinary Incontinence Is an Independent Risk Factor for Nursing Home Placement among Assisted Living Residents. Journal of the American Medical Directors Association Urinary incontinence was linked to higher permanent nursing home placement among 247,010 assisted living residents: 21.7% of residents with UI were placed, versus 14.2% without UI. The study did not show treatment prevents placement. RN Cohort 2025 A Comparison of Measures for Identifying Possible Dementia in Veterans Affairs Nursing Home Residents. Journal of the American Medical Directors Association Diagnosis codes and nursing home cognitive assessment scales found different groups of Veterans with possible dementia. The cognitive scale found more people, while diagnosis-based measures found fewer but were less likely to label residents without cognitive impairment. RN Other 2025 Effects of Visitation Restriction on Antipsychotic Drug Use among Nursing Home Residents with ADRD during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Journal of the American Medical Directors Association Nursing home visitation restrictions during COVID-19 were not associated with a change in antipsychotic use among residents with dementia. Antipsychotic use still rose overall, from 18.9% to 24.9% in long-stay residents and 21.1% to 26.6% in short-stay residents. RN Systematic Review 2025 A Personalised Caring Approach at Home-Patients, Relatives and Nurses' Experiences of Specialised Palliative Care: An Integrative Literature Review. Nursing open Patients, relatives and nurses described specialised palliative home care as safe when teams were available, continuity was maintained and care was co-created around patient wishes. Relatives' preparation and burden depended on clear information. RN RCT 2025 The Effect of an Educational Application on The Quality of Life and Treatment Adherence in Mothers of Children with Congenital Heart Disease Undergoing Cardiac Surgery: A Randomized Clinical Trial. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Mothers given a four-week Android app after their child's heart surgery reported higher quality-of-life and treatment-adherence scores than control mothers at one month. Both groups also received booklet, nurse discharge education, and weekly calls. SLP RN Systematic Review 2025 Childhood obesity in the first 2000 days: A focus on primary health care in regional and rural Australia. The Australian journal of rural health Telemedicine, nurse care navigation and community health workers may improve rural access to care from pregnancy to age 5, but evidence is low/moderate and long-term obesity outcomes were not shown. OT RN Qualitative 2025 Perspectives of Older Adults on Self-Care of Chronic Diseases Utilizing Online Health Resources: An Exploratory Descriptive Qualitative Study. Nursing & health sciences Older adults in Singapore with chronic diseases trusted doctors, family and friends more than online health information, but were wary of scams and unsure how to judge websites. They wanted guidance to use technology safely. RN Other 2025 Disparities in Diabetes Distress and Nutrition Management Among Black and Hispanic Adults: A Mixed Methods Exploration of Social Determinants. The science of diabetes self-management and care Black and Hispanic adults used nutrition to manage diabetes less often than White adults, and Hispanic adults had higher diabetes-related distress than White adults. They wanted practical diet guidance, supportive care, and help with food, time, and transportation barriers. RN Other 2025 Cytokines and Depressive Symptoms Among Adolescents. Biological research for nursing Higher salivary IL-6 and IL-8 were linked to more depressive symptoms; IL-1β, IL-8 and TNF-α were linked to a positive depression screen. These are associations only, not a diagnostic test. RN Qualitative 2025 Stakeholders' Perspectives on Child Healthcare Services under Rural Health Reform in Thailand: A Qualitative Study. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Rural Thai families and providers described child health care as uneven, under-resourced, and hard to navigate during reform. They pointed to village volunteers, teachers, local leaders, and clearer family communication as needed supports. RN Qualitative 2025 A Qualitative Survey of Mothers' Experiences of Breastfeeding Support at a Family Centre. Nursing open Mothers described breastfeeding support at a family centre as practical, continuous, and emotionally reassuring. Two women wanted more breastfeeding education, and one preferred direct conversations over digital links. OT RN Survey 2025 Housing characteristics of low and moderate income older adults with and without disabilities. Geriatric nursing (New York, N.Y.) About 32% of low and moderate income older adults with disability had an adverse consequence from unmet care needs. Subsidized housing, renting, apartment or mobile home, and interior disorder were associated with having such consequences. RN Qualitative 2025 Partial language concordance in primary care communication: What is lost, what is gained, and how to optimize. Patient education and counseling In 19 primary care visits with Chinese-speaking patients, partial language skills built rapport but could also cause misunderstandings; interpreter standby was described, but not tested. RN Qualitative 2025 Experiences With Cancer Screenings Among Arabic-Speaking Refugee Women. Nursing for women's health Arabic-speaking refugee women said clear provider explanations made them more willing to accept cancer screening. Fatalistic cancer language, confusion about how often screening was needed, worry about invasive tests, and interpreter problems made some women hesitant. RN Survey 2025 Health Literacy and Self-Efficacy in Parents of Toddlers-A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open Parents of toddlers in this Norwegian survey reported high health literacy and self-efficacy. Higher self-efficacy correlated with better health literacy across all nine domains, with the strongest link seen in understanding health information well enough to know what to do. RN Other 2025 Contribution of the Brief Family Strength-Oriented Therapeutic Conversation Intervention to Early Childhood Sleep Health: A Quasi-Experimental Study. Journal of family nursing 57 caregivers of infants with sleep problems reported better sleep beliefs, family support, and quality of life after a nurse-led family conversation intervention. Night-time sleep habits and longest night sleep also improved, but there was no control group. RN Survey 2025 Explaining the Association Between Number of Teeth and Frailty in Older Chinese Adults: The Chain Mediating Effect of Nutritional Status and Cognitive Function. International journal of nursing practice Having fewer natural teeth was linked to greater frailty, poorer nutrition and lower cognition in older adults. Nurses assessing frailty risk may ask about teeth and screen nutrition and cognition, but this does not prove tooth loss causes frailty. RN Other 2025 Cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric evaluation of the Thai version of the Enhancing Recovery in Coronary Heart Disease Social Support Inventory in individuals with chronic illnesses. International journal of nursing sciences A 6-item Thai social support questionnaire produced one consistent score in adults with chronic illness. The living-with-family item did not fit; use the 6 items to identify support needs. RN Other 2025 Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Accessing High-Quality Home Health Care among Older Adults with and Without Dementia. Journal of the American Medical Directors Association Non-Hispanic Black and Hispanic older adults and people with dementia were less likely to receive home health care from high-quality agencies. Dementia widened these gaps, and minority patients were more often in low-quality agencies. RN Systematic Review 2025 The Central Role of Learning in Preventing Foot Complications in Persons With Diabetes: A Scoping Review. Journal of clinical nursing Diabetes foot-care education was described as learning processes: reflection, motivation, hands-on tasks and feedback. Included studies reported practice, peer support and reinforcement; the review did not prove these prevent ulcers. RN Survey 2025 Colonial Mentality and Diabetes Self-Management in Filipino Americans. Nursing open Filipino American adults with type 2 diabetes who reported more cultural shame or internalised inferiority also reported lower glucose control, healthcare use, and overall diabetes self-management scores. These were associations in 37 survey respondents, not proof of cause. RN Survey 2025 Identifying Health Services Preferences for a Community-Based HIV Status-Neutral Mobile Clinic Among Marginalized Populations in Oakland, CA: A Maximum-Difference Analysis. The Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care : JANAC Marginalized Oakland community members ranked housing case management, mental health counseling, and mental health screening as most important services for a mobile HIV clinic, ahead of standard medical services. RN Qualitative 2025 "I don't think I have been out of fight or flight. Ever." Transgender people's experiences in inpatient psychiatric treatment. International journal of nursing studies Transgender adults described inpatient psychiatric care as exhausting because staff misgendered them, withheld hormones, and ignored their distress. Nurses who actively corrected names and advocated for affirming care were rare but made the difference between feeling safe and feeling targeted. RN Other 2025 Scale of perception of family self-efficacy in home care for children on peritoneal dialysis. Revista brasileira de enfermagem A new scale helps nurses check if families feel ready to manage a child's home dialysis. It covers fears about equipment failure, financial strain, and confusing advice from staff. Families understood every question, and expert nurses agreed the items measure what matters. RN Other 2025 Prevalence and Predictors of Caregiver Distress in Six European Communities: Data From the IBenC Study, Using interRAI-Home Care Assessments. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences Among home care clients with informal caregivers, distress was most common in Iceland (34%) and least in Finland (9%). Client depression risk, incontinence, medical complexity, recent hospitalisation and cohabiting caregivers were linked to higher distress. RN Cohort 2025 Health gains for users of long-term home care services in Portugal. Revista brasileira de enfermagem In 151 home-care users, mobility, daily-living function, pressure-ulcer risk, fall risk and pain were better at discharge than at admission, but mobility, daily-living function and pain were worse while waiting. RN Qualitative 2025 Barriers and Facilitators Influencing Parents' Willingness to Follow Healthcare Provider Guidance for Addressing Behaviors Linked to Early Childhood Obesity Risk: A Qualitative Descriptive Study. Journal of pediatric health care : official publication of National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates & Practitioners Parents of infants said they might set aside provider advice if they believed their baby was hungry or trusted their own intuition. They were more open to changing feeding, sleep, or screen habits when providers explained reasons and they trusted the provider's intentions. RN Cohort 2025 Sleep Quality of Persons with Dementia and Family Caregivers in Korean Americans: Wearable Technology to Study the Dyadic Association. Western journal of nursing research Dementia patients' deep sleep, awake time, and sleep efficiency tracked with caregivers' same measures; REM tracked opposite. Objective data showed patients' sleep was more disturbed than their diaries suggested. RN Qualitative 2025 A qualitative exploration of perceptions of the aetiology of preterm birth among pregnant Black women. Midwifery Pregnant Black women described preterm birth risk as tied to doing too much, emotional labour of racism, and relationship burdens. This is not evidence of causes. It shows what patients may believe and how maternity nurses can listen better. RN Qualitative 2025 Consumer Experiences of the Australian Stepped Care Model in Primary Mental Health Care: A Qualitative Study. International journal of mental health nursing Australians using stepped mental health care valued empathetic, consistent clinicians but faced long waits, limited sessions, abrupt funding cuts and poor communication. These barriers worsened distress, especially for complex needs. PT RN Other 2025 Influence of the Practice of the Pilates Method on Pain Perception During Pregnancy: A Quasiexperimental Study. Journal of midwifery & women's health Prenatal classes plus four weeks of Pilates was associated with lower pelvic and abdominal pain risk than classes alone. Lumbar pain reports decreased in the Pilates group. Dorsal pain did not differ. Self-selection limits certainty. RN Other 2025 Psychometric Properties of the Turkish Version of the Partners in Health Scale: Chronic Disease Self-Management in Primary Healthcare. International journal of nursing practice The Turkish Partners in Health Scale was reliable and fit the revised version better, giving primary care clinicians a brief self-management assessment for patients with chronic disease. RN Systematic Review 2025 Use of the Health Promotion Model by Nursing in Primary Care: an integrative review. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Health-promotion work guided by Pender's model was reported in eight primary care nursing articles to be associated with self-efficacy, breastfeeding support, and healthy behaviors, but the review did not prove the model works in routine nursing workflow. RN Other 2025 Hospital Performance, Nursing Resources, and Health Inequities During the COVID-19 Pandemic. Nursing research Most vulnerable patients had 25.8% 30-day inpatient mortality versus 19.8% for least vulnerable, and were less often admitted to hospitals with lower patient-to-nurse ratios and better work environments. This was an association, not proof. RN Qualitative 2025 The symbolic-representational construction of COVID-19 in vulnerable population groups. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Residents of Rocinha, a vulnerable Rio community, linked COVID-19 with death, fear, loss, illness and suffering. Death was the most frequent word. They also named words such as mask, cure, hospital and vaccine. The study reports perceptions, not effects. RN Qualitative 2025 Facing tuberculosis during the COVID-19 pandemic: the perspective of those who experienced it. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Eleven people treated for tuberculosis during the pandemic described delays, stigma, and interrupted follow-up, but also valued nearby primary care and nurse support. Clinicians should check home visits, directly observed treatment, and accurate transmission advice. RN Other 2025 Transition from hospital to home care: a mixed methods study in light of Meleis's Theory. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Patients and families rated hospital-to-home transition poorly: their care-transition score was 59.2 of 100, below 70 considered satisfactory. Most had no post-discharge home visit, but daily-living dependence decreased from moderate to mild. RN Pilot 2025 Implementation of a Loneliness Screening and Referral Program in Primary Care: A Mixed Methods Pilot Study. Research in gerontological nursing In a 2-week primary care pilot, 50% of 102 older adults screened positive for loneliness. Screening was feasible, but only 52% of positive-screen patients received referrals, and referral recipients did not recall or follow them. RN Cohort 2025 Impact of Inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation on Caregivers' Perceived Readiness for Patient Discharge. Rehabilitation nursing : the official journal of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses Caregivers' reported readiness for patient discharge rose from admission to discharge after inpatient stroke rehabilitation. The study had no comparison group and included usual team education, so it cannot show which part caused the change. RN Other 2025 Exploration of Perceptions of Mental Health and Self-Stigma Related to Psychological Care Seeking Among Female Refugees From War-Torn Ukraine. Journal of psychiatric and mental health nursing Ukrainian female refugees in the US described war-related anxiety, insomnia and shame about seeking mental health care. They often coped through family, faith, work and staying busy, and preferred help only when severe. RN Other 2025 YouTube as a Source for Arabic-Speaking Parent Education on the Oral Hygiene of Children: A Social Media Content Analysis. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) Most Arabic-language YouTube videos on child tooth brushing scored moderate total quality, but had poor reliability and low overall quality. Creator credentials did not guarantee quality, so nurses should vet videos before sharing them. RN Other 2025 Effectiveness of Patients' Education and Telenursing Follow-Ups on Self-Care Practices of Patients With Diabetes Mellitus: Cross-Sectional and Quasi-Experimental Study. JMIR nursing Diabetes education plus booklet, calls, SMS, WhatsApp, videos, and voice notes improved patients' reported self-care and observed skills over four weeks. Without a control group, the effect of any component cannot be separated. PT OT RN Qualitative 2025 Improving Rehabilitation for People With Type 2 Diabetes: Experiences From a Qualitative Study in a Municipal Setting. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences People with type 2 diabetes found it hard to turn rehabilitation advice into daily habits. Staff said vulnerable people were hard to reach, and referrals varied. They wanted flexible sessions, dietitian help, family support and better communication. RN Other 2025 Implementation of A New, Mobile Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Model Incorporating Artificial Intelligence in Remote Western Australia. The Australian journal of rural health A van-based AI retinal screening reached remote communities and was accepted by patients: 96% of survey responders were happy with AI, and all rated the experience good or very good. RN Qualitative 2025 Intermittent Use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Type 2 Diabetes Is Preferred: A Qualitative Study of Patients' Experiences. The science of diabetes self-management and care People with type 2 diabetes found that continuous glucose monitoring was a learning tool that showed how food, walking, and daily choices changed glucose. Many preferred intermittent access during illness, vacations, or disrupted routines, because continuous use could feel stressful. RN Survey 2025 Does Grit Matter? The Relationship Between Grit and Drinking Behavior Among Adolescents: A Cross-Sectional Study of a Nationally Representative Sample of Korean Adolescents. Journal of nursing scholarship : an official publication of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Adolescents with higher grit were less likely to report drinking in the past year, even after accounting for gender, depression, peer and teacher relationships, other risk behaviors, and social media use. RN Other 2025 Clinical, Operational, and Economic Benefits of a Digitally Enabled Wound Care Program in Home Health: Quasi-Experimental, Pre-Post Comparative Study. JMIR nursing Home health branches using a digital wound care system saw wounds heal 4.3 days faster on average. Nurses also spent less time on visits and conducted fewer visits per episode.
