RN Meta-Analysis 2025 The Effectiveness of Mind-Body Exercise on Health-Related Quality of Life and Mental Health During and After Breast Cancer Treatment: An Umbrella Review of Meta-Analyses for Randomized Controlled Trials. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing Yoga had the strongest evidence for reducing depression in breast cancer patients and survivors. International journal of mental health nursing Suicide loss survivors described an implicit negotiation with the person who died, felt as vigilance, relief, anger, or new meanings in familiar places. These accounts may help nurses assess suicide risk and involve families. RN Other 2025 Prevalence and Predictors of Caregiver Distress in Six European Communities: Data From the IBenC Study, Using interRAI-Home Care Assessments. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences Among home care clients with informal caregivers, distress was most common in Iceland (34%) and least in Finland (9%). Client depression risk, incontinence, medical complexity, recent hospitalisation and cohabiting caregivers were linked to higher distress. RN Meta-Analysis 2025 The Effect of Nursing Interventions in Women With Gestational Hypertension: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. Nursing & health sciences Nursing interventions added to standard care for pregnant women with gestational hypertension lowered systolic and diastolic blood pressure, anxiety and depression, and shortened hospital stay. Preeclampsia development did not change. RN Qualitative 2025 When Psychiatric Services Become a Waiting Room: Situational Analysis of Involuntary Commitment and Treatment as Experienced by Patients and Nurses. Clinical nursing research Patients and nurses described involuntary psychiatric care as waiting for crisis to pass, medication as the main treatment, little support, and rules enforced by nurses. RN Qualitative 2025 A Narrative Inquiry of East Asian Parents and Mental Health in Canada: Critical Openings for Anti-Racism Strategies in Knowledge Translation. The Canadian journal of nursing research = Revue canadienne de recherche en sciences infirmieres Eight East Asian parents described child mental health resources as hard to access because of cost, language and missing cultural terms. They also said representation alone was not enough, because resources often did not understand their lived experience. PT OT RN Cohort 2025 Changes in Mental and Physical Health Outcomes Following One Day a Week Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation in Regional New South Wales. The Australian journal of rural health In regional NSW, patients completing one weekly cardiopulmonary rehab session showed reduced depression, faster sit-to-stand times, and longer walking distances. Waist circumference decreased slightly. Blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation did not change significantly. RN Cohort 2025 An Observational Study on the Association Between Nutritional Intake and Mental Health Among Older Adults in Rural Areas. Nursing & health sciences Rural Korean older adults who reported higher daily niacin and vitamin E intake had lower reported depressive symptoms. The study measured diet and symptoms at one time, so it does not show that foods or supplements prevented depression. RN Qualitative 2025 Consumer Experiences of the Australian Stepped Care Model in Primary Mental Health Care: A Qualitative Study. International journal of mental health nursing Australians using stepped mental health care valued empathetic, consistent clinicians but faced long waits, limited sessions, abrupt funding cuts and poor communication. These barriers worsened distress, especially for complex needs. RN RCT 2025 Development and Deployment of a Music Listening Intervention Mobile Application for a Two-Group Blinded Randomized Clinical Trial. Clinical nursing research A music app for an ICU delirium trial can deliver blinded music or silence, log session length and tracks, and send data securely. It does not show music reduced delirium. RN Qualitative 2025 Family management of common sleep disturbances among children with autism: Implications for pediatric nursing research and practice. Journal of pediatric nursing Caregivers describe managing sleep in children with autism as a balancing act between the child’s sensory needs and the family’s own sleep. Night wakings were most common, but often went unnoticed by parents if the child stayed in bed. Screening tools may miss these disturbances. RN Qualitative 2025 Women living with HIV: perception regarding diagnosis, treatment and mental health. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Women living with HIV described stigma, anxiety, despair, and suicidal thoughts after diagnosis; these feelings were linked to missed or stopped antiretroviral treatment. Ask about mental health before treating poor adherence as forgetfulness. RN Qualitative 2025 Ways to Cope With Paternal Postpartum Depression From Iranian Fathers' Perspective: A Qualitative Study. Nursing open Iranian fathers with postpartum depression described coping through work, family, and spouse support, hope that problems pass, and parenting and communication training. These are experiences, not tested treatments. RN Qualitative 2025 Uncertainties and contradictions experienced by women with COVID-19 during childbirth/birth and the postpartum period. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Women who gave birth with COVID-19 described fear, isolation, and separation from their babies. Some found staff caring, but others reported being left alone, denied companions, ignored birth plans, and struggling with breastfeeding. RN Other 2025 Exploration of Perceptions of Mental Health and Self-Stigma Related to Psychological Care Seeking Among Female Refugees From War-Torn Ukraine. Journal of psychiatric and mental health nursing Ukrainian female refugees in the US described war-related anxiety, insomnia and shame about seeking mental health care. They often coped through family, faith, work and staying busy, and preferred help only when severe. RN Other 2025 Use of the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale Screener in a General Hospital Setting. International journal of mental health nursing In general hospital inpatients, nurse interviews for suicide screening were accepted more often than self-report, but self-report found more high-risk patients. Older patients refused self-report; male and surgical patients refused nurse interviews. RN Survey 2025 The Association Between Caregiving Burden, the Caregiving Relationship, and Caregiver Health. Journal of gerontological nursing Family caregivers of older adults who reported more burden also reported worse mental health and poorer general health, and the link was partly associated with lower perceived relationship quality. RN Systematic Review 2025 Predictors of Informal Caregiver Burden in Parkinson's Disease: A Systematic Review. Western journal of nursing research Caregiver depression and anxiety, neuropsychiatric symptoms, poorer patient quality of life, and motor symptoms affecting daily living were repeatedly linked to higher caregiver burden in Parkinson's. Many other variables were inconclusive. These are assessment clues, not proven treatment targets. RN Qualitative 2025 Meanings of hope constructed by users of mental health services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Users of specialized mental health services described hope as faith, solidarity, recovery from illness, and personal resilience. Some said the pandemic worsened substance use or depression, and some said they had no goals. RN Systematic Review 2025 Prodromal Symptoms of Acute Myocardial Infarction in Women: A Systematic Review of Current Evidence. Nursing open Women later diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome often reported prodromal fatigue, anxiety, sleep disturbance, chest discomfort and other symptoms before the event. Nurses can ask about these when triaging or assessing women with nonspecific symptoms. SLP RN Survey 2025 The Roles of Parental Psychological Flexibility, Mindfulness, and Self-Compassion in Affecting Mental Health and Self-Efficacy in Parents of Children With or Without Hearing Loss: An Analysis of the Parallel Mediation Model. Nursing open Parents of children with and without congenital hearing loss reported that higher stress, depression, and anxiety were linked to lower parenting self-efficacy, and that lower psychological flexibility, mindful awareness, and self-compassion were also linked to lower self-efficacy. It did not test an intervention. RN Systematic Review 2025 Effectiveness of Suicide Prevention Programmes Among Adolescents and Sociocultural Adaptation of Programmes: A Systematic Review. International journal of mental health nursing School-based suicide prevention programmes often improved adolescents' knowledge about suicide, help-seeking and some suicide-related outcomes, but effects were inconsistent, few reported cultural adaptation and no adverse effects were reported. RN Other 2025 The Role of Siblings in Caring for Middle-Aged and Older People With Severe Mental Illness: A Scoping Review. International journal of mental health nursing Most siblings of middle-aged or older people with severe mental illness are willing to give emotional, social, or financial support, but they resist regular daily care. They need psychoeducation, counselling, and help coordinating with services. RN Survey 2025 Sleep and Trauma Effects of the Earthquake: A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open Earthquake survivors reported poor sleep and significant trauma effects. Trauma exposure and sleep were linked only very weakly, so trauma alone did not account for most sleep problems. OT RN Systematic Review 2025 Carers' Understanding of Recovery-Oriented Practice in Mental Health Settings: A Systematic Review and Narrative Synthesis. International journal of mental health nursing Carers understood recovery-oriented mental health care but said services often prioritised symptoms and medication, excluded them from discharge planning and information, and left them feeling unable to support recovery. RN Survey 2025 The integrative health status of women with uterine fibroids wishing to maintain fertility: a cross-sectional study based on Levine's conservation model. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) Most women with fibroids wanting fertility reported high fatigue and sexual dysfunction. Higher fatigue went with worse sexual function, more anxiety and more loneliness; symptom severity did not track anxiety or loneliness. RN RCT 2025 A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial of a Multimodal Wellness Intervention for Perinatal Mental Health. Journal of midwifery & women's health A four-session Zoom wellness program with motivational interviewing was feasible and acceptable for pregnant people, and participants showed more health-promoting behaviors and lower anxiety than those receiving prenatal education at some timepoints, but this pilot was not powered to prove benefit. RN Survey 2025 Impact of Depression on Activation and Summer Heat Adaptation in Older Adults With Cardiovascular Concerns: Empirical Research Quantitative. Nursing open Summer heat adaptation did not explain the link between depression and activation in rural older adults with cardiovascular risk. Higher depression was linked to lower activation, and better heat adaptation was linked to higher activation. RN Survey 2025 The mediating effects of convergence of femininity-maternity and marital intimacy in the relationship between postpartum depression and quality of life in postpartum mothers: a cross-sectional study. Women's health nursing (Seoul, Korea) In postpartum mothers, higher depression scores were associated with lower quality of life. Maintaining a feminine identity while adapting to motherhood partly accounted for this association. Marital intimacy was linked to quality of life but did not add to that explanation. RN RCT 2025 The Effect of Newborn Massage Training on Maternal Attachment and Postpartum Depression: Randomized Controlled Trial. Nursing & health sciences First-time mothers who received online newborn massage training during pregnancy reported stronger attachment and fewer depressive symptoms after birth than controls. It was self-reported, short-term, and unblinded, so treat it as a supportive practice, not depression treatment. RN Survey 2025 Patterns of Psychological Distress of Chinese Elderly Cancer Patients: A Latent Profile Analysis. Nursing open In 357 older Chinese cancer patients, three distress groups emerged: low 34.7%, moderate 35.6%, high 29.7%. Female sex, religious belief, and being under treatment were linked to moderate or high distress, and high distress was associated with worse emotional quality of life. RN Cohort 2025 Prevention of Violence in an Acute Psychiatric Unit: Spanish Validation of the Brøset Violence Checklist and Assessment of Its Predictive Capacity for Physical Restraint. Journal of psychiatric and mental health nursing Nurses using the Spanish Brøset Violence Checklist in a psychiatric unit rated patients consistently, and a higher first-shift score was linked to restraint within 72 hours. It predicts risk, not reduces restraint. PT RN Other 2025 The development and application of the mobile frailty management platform for Chinese community-dwelling older adults. International journal of nursing sciences Frail or pre-frail older adults using a WeChat platform plus routine community care had better frailty status, mood, sleep, grip strength and quality of life at 12 weeks. The platform bundled exercise, nutrition, education and monitoring, so single parts cannot be separated. RN Other 2025 Comparison of Symptoms Between Midlife Women in Perimenopause and Postmenopause Using Network Comparison Test. Western journal of nursing research Perimenopausal and postmenopausal women had similar overall symptom connections, but frequent mood change was central in perimenopause and anxiety in postmenopause. Clinicians should prioritize assessment and management of these core symptoms. RN Systematic Review 2025 The Relationship Between Excessive Screen Time, Self-Harm, and Suicidal Behavior in Adolescents During the COVID-19 Pandemic: An Integrative Literature Review. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc Heavy smartphone, internet, social media and video game use was associated with more suicidal thoughts, planning, self-harm and attempts in adolescents during the pandemic, across 18 studies. These are associations, not proof screen time causes self-harm or suicide attempts. RN Qualitative 2025 The Experiences of Women Who Have Used Intrauterine Devices for a Long Time. Nursing & health sciences Women who kept intrauterine devices for at least 11 years delayed removal because of fear of pain and bad hospital memories. Some also stayed because they trusted it as easy, long-term contraception. RN Cohort 2025 Associations between depression, resilience, and fatigue in patients with multivessel coronary disease: A cross-lag study. International journal of nursing sciences In patients with multivessel coronary disease, higher depression scores were followed by higher fatigue scores, while higher resilience scores were followed by lower fatigue scores and a weaker depression-fatigue link. OT RN Other 2025 Nurse-led inpatient education using a gamification approach for patients with mental illness: A quasi-experimental study. International journal of nursing sciences In psychiatric inpatients, nurse-led card games were associated with higher knowledge and self-efficacy than booklet teaching, and with higher occupational therapy engagement. Attendance did not change. RN Survey 2025 Preferences of Non-Metropolitan Youth Towards Accessing Mental Health Services: A Choice-Based Conjoint Analysis. The Australian journal of rural health Young people in non-metropolitan Tasmania preferred mental health care from a psychologist, free, face-to-face, and with no wait. Cost, wait time, and provider type mattered most. RN Meta-Analysis 2025 Effectiveness of Managing Cancer and Living Meaningfully Therapy on Health-Related Outcomes for Patients With Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing CALM therapy lowered psychological distress, anxiety and depression and improved quality of life in cancer patients. It did not clearly reduce fear of recurrence. Evidence was low certainty. RN Cohort 2025 Associations Among Childhood Household Income, Latent Classes of Early Adverse Childhood Experiences, and Adolescent Mental Health. Issues in mental health nursing Adolescents with many types of early childhood adversity had the highest depression and anxiety symptoms. Adolescents with physical or emotional abuse but few other adversities had symptoms similar to those with little adversity. That group also had the highest household income at birth. RN Cohort 2025 Impact of Remote Appointments on the Outcomes of Community Mental Health Nurses in Primary Care Since the Covid Pandemic: A Retrospective Observational Cohort Study. International journal of mental health nursing Telephone-only mental health nursing appointments were linked to higher dropout and lower improvement. Video or blended formats were linked to lower dropout, and blended delivery was linked to improvement, so reserve phone for brief support or monitoring. RN Cohort 2025 The Impact of Adversity and Family Conflict on Risk for Future Substance Use Among Young Adolescents in the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study (ABCD Study): A Cohort Analysis. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc Higher childhood adversity scores at ages 9 to 10 were linked to higher risk for future alcohol, cigarette/e-cigarette, and marijuana use at ages 12 to 13. Family conflict did not change that link. RN Qualitative 2025 Integrated Aftercare Support for Parents and Carers Following a Child's Suicide Attempt: A Qualitative Study. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc Parents described post-suicide aftercare as helpful when staff listened, came to their home, and provided peer support. They wanted longer hours, clearer structure, and more time. RN RCT 2025 Auriculotherapy for anxiety, quality of life and fear of COVID-19 in pregnant women: a randomized clinical trial. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Radionic crystals on tape did not reduce anxiety more than placebo tape in low-risk pregnant women. The crystals on tape improved physical and environmental quality-of-life scores versus placebo tape. Both groups had less anxiety and fear of COVID-19 over time. RN Other 2025 Risk Factors for Emergency Department Visits or Hospitalizations Among Older Adults With Urinary Incontinence in Home Health Care. Journal of gerontological nursing Older adults in home health with urinary incontinence were more likely to have an ED visit or hospitalization when notes showed symptom clusters, especially anxiety, dizziness, constipation, or all listed symptoms, and when an unhealed skin ulcer was present. RN Qualitative 2025 Exploring the Skills Prioritised in the Assessment of Students Pursuing Adult Nursing, Post-COVID: A Qualitative Analysis. Nursing open Adult nursing students are assessed mainly on technical tasks like catheterisation and wound care. Compassion and communication are rated but rarely described in detail.
