Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc Heavy smartphone, internet, social media and video game use was associated with more suicidal thoughts, planning, self-harm and attempts in adolescents during the pandemic, across 18 studies. These are associations, not proof screen time causes self-harm or suicide attempts. RN Qualitative 2025 Father Involvement in Pregnancy and Postnatal Care: Combined Perspectives of Fathers, Mothers, and Service Providers. Nursing & health sciences Fathers, mothers and service providers described perinatal services as centred on mothers and children, making some fathers feel secondary. Participants suggested father-specific education, flexible attendance and attention to paternal mental health, while cautioning that fathers should not always be present. RN RCT 2025 Effect of premature infant oral motor intervention (PIOMI) and pacifier intervention on the transition to oral feeding in preterm infants: A randomized controlled study. Japan journal of nursing science : JJNS Preterm infants given oral motor intervention or pacifier reached full oral feeding sooner and had shorter hospital stays than controls. The two methods produced similar results, so either may be considered when certified oral motor care is unavailable. Mothers whose postnatal caregiver was their parents had lower confidence. Nurses can ask whether family help is supportive or controlling. RN Cohort 2025 Associations Among Childhood Household Income, Latent Classes of Early Adverse Childhood Experiences, and Adolescent Mental Health. Issues in mental health nursing Adolescents with many types of early childhood adversity had the highest depression and anxiety symptoms. Adolescents with physical or emotional abuse but few other adversities had symptoms similar to those with little adversity. That group also had the highest household income at birth. They wanted longer hours, clearer structure, and more time. RN Survey 2025 Knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women about COVID-19 vaccination. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem 63.88% of pregnant women had negative views about COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy, mostly fearing fetal harm. Higher education and enough vaccine information were linked to more positive attitudes. RN Qualitative 2025 Seeking Healthcare in Many Different Places: Mental Health Strengths and Challenges Among Omani Female Adolescents. They still valued family and government support and some used prayer, peers, or the internet. RN Qualitative 2025 Parental Caregiving Experiences in Epidermolysis Bullosa: A Phenomenological Study. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Parents of children with epidermolysis bullosa described being sent home without training, leading to trial-and-error wound care and false hope. They reported profound isolation, family instability, and despair due to the relentless physical burden and lack of clear guidance. RN Other 2025 The factors affecting breastfeeding self-efficacy, LATCH scores and effect of postnatal breastfeeding education on mothers' self-efficacy. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P 217 postpartum mothers' breastfeeding confidence scores rose from 58.9 to 68.4 on a 14-70 scale after routine hospital breastfeeding support, one-on-one breastfeeding education, practical demonstration, positive feedback, and phone follow-up. No control group means the rise cannot be separated from those components. RN Systematic Review 2025 Technologies for healthy lifestyle in people with HIV: a systematic review. The review did not combine the results, and every trial had some weaknesses. RN Survey 2025 The Mediating Role of Hopelessness in the Relationship Between Social Media Addiction and Loneliness Among Adolescents. Hopelessness was linked to both, so clinicians may need to assess all three. RN Other 2025 An Evidence-Based Safe Sleep Program Is Associated With Less Infant Sleep-Related Deaths. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing Audits in 12 Pennsylvania hospitals found more infants supine and fewer unsafe crib items after a comprehensive safe-sleep program; parent advice reports also improved, but death counts were too small to prove fewer deaths. Nursing & health sciences Case management for parents and carers of children with chronic illness or disability produced small improvements in caregiver wellbeing, less distress, and better satisfaction with services. Nurses and occupational therapists may add structured care coordination to family support. RN Other 2025 Effects of a health promotion intervention in the Mexican population with celiac disease. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P After seven virtual health-promotion sessions, people with celiac disease reported fewer symptoms and healthier lifestyles. Median symptom scores fell from 46.87 to 4.16, and health-promoting lifestyle scores rose from 52.90 to 142.85, but there was no control group. RN RCT 2025 Evaluation of an Interactive, Educational Website Developed for Adolescents to Learn About Pediatric Clinical Trials: DigiKnowIt News. Journal of pediatric health care : official publication of National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates & Practitioners Adolescents and parents who used a clinical-trial education website said they knew more about trials and felt more positive about them than controls. Knowledge, fears, and willingness to join a trial did not improve. RN Other 2025 PEDIATRIX SAFE KIDS: Serious Game on the safety of pediatric patients. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P A pediatric patient-safety quiz app for hospital companions was judged by specialist nurses to cover safety topics clearly, but not tested for improving safety or learning. Nurses can use it to structure family education while checking understanding. RN RCT 2025 Impact of a Psychoeducation on Caregiver Burden, Internalized Stigma, Anxiety, and Coping in Caregivers of Children With Epilepsy: A Randomized Pilot Study. Nursing & health sciences Caregivers of children with epilepsy and a disability who took a 6-week psychoeducation course reported less burden, anxiety and stigma, and more confident, optimistic coping than caregivers who did not. The course included seizure first aid, medication management and stress techniques. RN Other 2025 The Multidimensional Factors That Influence the Family Management of Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Mixed Methods Study. Journal of family nursing Families with higher confidence and lower effort had more family-centered routines and stronger social support. Nurses can help caregivers shift from child-centered to family-centered routines and identify support networks to reduce management burden. RN Qualitative 2025 Meanings that mothers of obese children attribute to eating habits: grounded theory. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Mothers of obese children described feeding as love, guilt relief, and work compromise. They gave sweets to stop crying, relied on caregivers, and felt unable to control meals. PT OT SLP RN Systematic Review 2025 Care provided by humanoid robots: a scoping review. Investigacion y educacion en enfermeria Humanoid robots in healthcare were used mainly for social interaction, with some physical rehabilitation support and health information. This review mapped how they were used, not whether they improved patient outcomes. RN Other 2025 Serious game as an educational tool to promote the health of children and adolescents with cancer. Investigacion y educacion en enfermeria 15 children and adolescents with cancer rated a printed board game about cancer and treatment as acceptable for usability, with a mean score of 95.16 on a 0 to 100 scale. It did not show improved knowledge, anxiety, or clinical outcomes. RN RCT 2025 Improving respectful maternity care through group antenatal care: Findings from a cluster randomized controlled trial. Midwifery Pregnant women in group antenatal care reported more respectful experiences than routine care: fewer said they were treated differently because of personal attributes, and more found wait times and information acceptable. RN Systematic Review 2025 Effects of Nonpharmacological Interventions on Stress, Anxiety, and Depression of Pregnant Women: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing Spiritual meditation ranked as the most effective nonpharmacological intervention for reducing stress, anxiety, and depression in pregnant women. Mindfulness-based stress reduction was the top choice specifically for stress. Most other therapies, including yoga and music, showed no significant benefit over standard prenatal care. Clear information, respect, decision-making, and allowing support persons stood out. RN RCT 2025 The Effect of Mother's Gentle Human Touch on Preterm Neonate's Pain and Maternal Anxiety During Venipuncture in Turkiye. Research in nursing & health Preterm babies whose mothers used gentle touch on the head and abdomen during blood draws had lower pain scores, less crying, lower heart rate and higher oxygen levels. Their mothers also reported less anxiety. All babies had mothers present, a lullaby, and standard care. RN RCT 2025 The Effect of Music and Eye Masks on Sleep Quality and Delirium in Abdominal Surgery Intensive Care Patients: Randomized Controlled Trial. Nursing in critical care Sleep quality improved on days 2 and 3 in post-abdominal surgery ICU patients given eye masks plus calming classical music for three nights; day-3 delirium screening scores were lower, but observed delirium cases did not differ. RN Other 2026 Comparison of the Effects of Plastic-Free Diet, Plastic-Free Diet Education and Exposure Feedback on Urinary Bisphenol: A Levels in Adolescents. The Journal of school nursing : the official publication of the National Association of School Nurses The approaches did not differ, but plastic-free diet, plastic-free diet education, and BPA exposure feedback all lowered adolescents' urinary BPA from pre-test to post-test. RN Systematic Review 2025 Interventions to Support Psychological Health Outcomes for Children and Families Experiencing Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Admission: A Scoping Review. Nursing in critical care PICU family support evidence is thin: 10 small studies, many were information or psychoeducation, some reported lower parent anxiety or stress; no intensive clinical interventions were identified. Nursing in critical care Nurse-driven pain and sedation protocols in PICUs usually lowered benzodiazepine doses, but opioid dose changes were less clear. For nurses, this supports structured titration and documentation, not a proven way to reduce opioids or ventilation time. RN Meta-Analysis 2025 Endotracheal Tube-Associated Complications in Paediatric Critical Care: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. Nursing in critical care Critically ill children with endotracheal tubes developed ventilator-associated pneumonia at 13.5 per 1000 ventilator days, accidental extubation at 7.4 per 1000 days, and tube blockage at 5.0 per 1000 days. RN Meta-Analysis 2025 Effectiveness of Psychosocial Interventions on Stress, Anxiety, Depression, and Quality of Life in Parents of Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults With Cancer: A Meta-Analysis of RCTs. Nursing & health sciences Across 21 randomized trials, psychosocial interventions for parents of children with cancer reduced anxiety, depression, stress, and improved quality of life. CBT and other approaches did not differ clearly, and long-term benefit is unclear. RN Cohort 2025 Analysis of Risk Factors and Nursing Strategies for Unplanned Extubation in Children: Retrospective Cohort Study. JMIR nursing Thirteen unplanned extubations occurred over six years in a pediatric surgery ward. Most happened to boys under three, during holidays, and when nurses were not at the bedside. The report says all registered children aged 0 to 2 years had vaccination records updated, but it is not a trial. RN Other 2025 The Application of a Combined Online and Offline Health Intervention Model for Assessing Parents' KAP About Testicular Torsion: A Self-Controlled Study. Nursing open Parents' stated knowledge, attitudes and intentions to seek care for testicular torsion improved after a 3-month package of lectures, brochures, WeChat science videos and expert micro-videos. No control group. RN Survey 2025 Evaluation of Satisfaction With Care in Paediatric Intensive Care Units: Swedish Parents' Perspective. Nursing in critical care Parents of children in Swedish paediatric intensive care rated care highly overall. They wanted clearer daily information about who was responsible, more involvement in decisions, and better discharge preparation, especially for infants and longer stays. RN RCT 2025 Screening Tools in School-Based Health Centers for Children With Asthma. The Journal of school health Asthma control did not differ significantly between intervention and control families in this 20-family pilot, but screening identified home triggers and legal concerns, and intervention families received home assessment/remediation and medical-legal referral when positive. RN Qualitative 2025 Experience of adolescents/young adults with chronic kidney disease and of their families during transition of care. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Families of young people with chronic kidney disease described moving to adult clinics as losing trusted pediatric relationships and fearing more distant care. They wanted clear information, emotional support, and help letting adolescents speak for themselves. RN Qualitative 2025 Experience of Families During Admission of Their Minors to a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit: A Phenomenological Study. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences Families of children with long intensive care admissions described fear, anxiety, helplessness and loneliness, but also trust and comfort when staff communicated clearly, included them in care and taught practical tasks. RN Qualitative 2025 Knowledge of pregnant women living in riverside community about exclusive breastfeeding in the context of Primary Health Care. They linked breast milk to child growth and six-month exclusivity, yet some planned early foods because of work, family pressure and myths about weak milk.
