Worldviews on evidence-based nursing Spiritual meditation ranked as the most effective nonpharmacological intervention for reducing stress, anxiety, and depression in pregnant women. Mindfulness-based stress reduction was the top choice specifically for stress. Most other therapies, including yoga and music, showed no significant benefit over standard prenatal care. Evaluations report patient satisfaction and some reduced ED use, but the review cannot prove these services work better than standard care. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem Depression symptom screening in 3,307 Brazilian older adults was linked to COVID-19 media exposure, but after accounting for background factors, those with frequent television or radio, or two to five hours social media, were less likely to screen positive than no exposure. RN RCT 2025 The Effect of Mother's Gentle Human Touch on Preterm Neonate's Pain and Maternal Anxiety During Venipuncture in Turkiye. Research in nursing & health Preterm babies whose mothers used gentle touch on the head and abdomen during blood draws had lower pain scores, less crying, lower heart rate and higher oxygen levels. Their mothers also reported less anxiety. All babies had mothers present, a lullaby, and standard care. International journal of mental health nursing Prescribed aerobic, resistance, or mixed exercise reduced depression and anxiety symptoms in adults with diagnosed conditions compared to usual care. Effects were large for depression and moderate for anxiety. The specific type of exercise did not change the benefit for depression. RN Qualitative 2025 Shame and Experiences of Psychosis: A Qualitative Inquiry. International journal of mental health nursing People with psychosis described shame as exposing hidden vulnerabilities, causing shame after behaviours, and being triggered by locked doors, restraint, medical language, and unequal staff relationships. They described talking about experiences in their own words and having choices as ways to manage shame. RN Cohort 2025 Lower Adherence to Breastfeeding Recommendations in Mothers Treated With Antirheumatic and Antidepressant Medications. Journal of human lactation : official journal of International Lactation Consultant Association Mothers using antirheumatic medications at delivery were less likely to breastfeed, more likely to supplement with formula, and more likely to stop before 6 months. Shame and fear of judgement made many avoid talking about weight, especially when mental health felt more urgent. International journal of mental health nursing Twelve consumers described feeling sexually unsafe on acute mental health wards, often because other consumers or staff actions made them uneasy. They wanted nurses to ask about safety at admission and check in daily, and most used avoidance instead. RN RCT 2025 Central Nervous System Polypharmacy Among People Living With Dementia. Journal of the American Medical Directors Association Deprescribing education did not reduce the proportion of people with dementia meeting criteria for risky central nervous system polypharmacy. The most common high-risk medication combinations involved antidepressants, opioids, and gabapentin or pregabalin. JMIR nursing A community database and post-COVID care plan was rated highly by health professionals. It sets out monitoring, education and referral steps, but does not test patient outcomes. RN RCT 2025 A Randomized Controlled Trial of a Telehealth Group Intervention to Reduce Perinatal Depressive Symptoms: A Mixed Methods Analysis. Journal of midwifery & women's health The mindfulness telehealth group did not reduce perinatal depression symptoms more than childbirth/parenting classes; both groups improved similarly, and participants valued connection and shared experience. RN Survey 2025 Exploring Determinants of Foot Self-Care Behaviors Across Adherence Levels in Patients With Diabetic Foot Ulcer History: A Quantile Regression Approach. Nursing & health sciences In adults with prior diabetic foot ulcers, foot care knowledge was linked to better self-care across all adherence levels. Stigma, severe depression and social support were linked mainly at higher adherence. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences Nurse-delivered psychosocial and psychotherapeutic interventions showed improvements in depression, anxiety and quality of life in people with mental health issues. The trials varied widely in condition, intervention and duration, so this does not point to one best programme. RN Meta-Analysis 2025 Effectiveness of Psychosocial Interventions on Stress, Anxiety, Depression, and Quality of Life in Parents of Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults With Cancer: A Meta-Analysis of RCTs. Nursing & health sciences Across 21 randomized trials, psychosocial interventions for parents of children with cancer reduced anxiety, depression, stress, and improved quality of life. CBT and other approaches did not differ clearly, and long-term benefit is unclear. RN Qualitative 2025 The Role of Stigma in Help-Seeking Strategies Among African Migrants in Australia: A Qualitative Study. International journal of mental health nursing African migrants described stigma delaying mental health help-seeking: fear of being called mad, communal shame, and spiritual beliefs led some to suffer silently or seek church first. Clinicians should expect late presentation and ask about stigma and spiritual beliefs. RN Cohort 2025 Efficiency of AIMS: A 4-Week Recovery Oriented Suicide Prevention Pathway. International journal of mental health nursing In 552 people in suicidal crisis, a 4-week team pathway was entered mainly from emergency or acute care and discharged participants to community services; 6-month re-presentation was low, but no control group. RN Survey 2025 Determination of the Relationship Between Care Burden, Health Anxiety and Depression Levels of Caregivers of Patients Who Have Undergone Oncological Surgery. Nursing & health sciences Among 162 family caregivers after cancer surgery, 52% had health anxiety, 38% severe burden, and 42% mild depression. Burden, anxiety, and depression tended to rise together. Only 13.6% had received caregiving training. International journal of mental health nursing Consumers and staff in adult mental health units described unsafe spaces, disbelieved reports and limited trauma training as threats to sexual safety. Women-only areas helped some feel safer, but did not alone solve it. RN Qualitative 2025 Experience of Families During Admission of Their Minors to a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit: A Phenomenological Study. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences Families of children with long intensive care admissions described fear, anxiety, helplessness and loneliness, but also trust and comfort when staff communicated clearly, included them in care and taught practical tasks. RN Qualitative 2025 A framework for developing spouse-inclusive digital applications in preventing perinatal depression and anxiety. International journal of nursing sciences Women and spouses described adjusting to a new period of life, dealing with perinatal distress, and mobilizing needs and supports. Experts judged the proposed spouse-inclusive digital framework appropriate, but no app was tested. RN Qualitative 2025 Impact of Music Therapy on Patients in the Critical Care Unit: A Qualitative Study. Nursing in critical care Adult ICU patients described live, personalised music therapy as a distraction from monitors and loneliness. They said they felt accompanied, relaxed and motivated, although some said the experience varied with their physical and emotional state. RN Survey 2025 Understanding the Burden: Exploring Key Factors in Dementia Caregiving in Residential Care Homes. The journal of nursing research : JNR Dementia caregivers reported mild-to-moderate burden. Attitudes and confidence predicted burden, but basic dementia knowledge did not. Agitation and medication count were key resident factors. Weekly hours predicted burden inconsistently, varying by care home type. RN Survey 2025 On Patient Quality of Life: Impacts of Knee Osteoarthritis on Pain, Anxiety, Depression, Fatigue and Sleep Disorders. Nursing open Knee osteoarthritis patients grouped into low symptoms, high psychological distress, and high fatigue and sleep problems. The latter two groups had worse quality of life, so nurses should ask about mood, fatigue and sleep, not just knee pain. Nursing open Caregivers of teenagers with inflammatory bowel disease felt shocked, guilty and financially strained, but many found strength through family and healthcare team support. International journal of mental health nursing Brief admission use dropped for most participants over four years, leaving only eight who used it consistently. These high users had worse self-care but rated the service highest. Some were refused emergency care because they held a brief admission contract. RN Meta-Analysis 2025 Chatbot-Delivered Interventions for Improving Mental Health Among Young People: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing Chatbot interventions for young people reduced psychological distress compared with controls, but did not significantly improve well-being. Forty-five of 137 exceeded a moderate-to-severe attachment threshold and had higher anxiety and depression scores. They said experiences became more positive when staff shared information in everyday language, respected their knowledge, and involved them in care and discharge planning. International journal of community based nursing and midwifery Homebound older adults whose family caregivers completed a 12-week empowerment program reported significantly better quality of life than those receiving usual care. The caregivers learned practical skills like fall prevention and hygiene, directly improving the patients' physical, psychological, and social well-being. RN Survey 2025 Validity evidence for the Brazilian version of the Postpartum Specific Anxiety Scale. Revista brasileira de enfermagem A Brazilian postpartum anxiety scale identified four types of worry in mothers and gave consistent scores when repeated after 14 days. It kept 43 of 51 items and scored in step with anxiety and depression scales. Use it to screen, not to show treatment works. RN Other 2025 An Analytical Cross-Sectional Study Among Adolescent Patients Who Attempted Suicide and Their Childhood Mobility. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc In emergency department records, adolescents with a prior zip code change were more likely to be recorded as having attempted suicide than those with none. Ask about recent moves during risk assessment. RN Other 2025 The effect of auriculotherapy on individuals with anxiety in follow-up in Primary Health Care. Revista brasileira de enfermagem In 60 primary care users with anxiety, ten needle sessions, taped cowpea seeds and daily seed pressing were followed by lower anxiety, stress and depression scores and better self-rated quality of life. This before-after study cannot prove the treatment caused the change. RN Cohort 2025 Perceived Stress, Residential Indoor PM2.5 Concentration, and Motor Vehicle Traffic Exposure Among Adults with Asthma: A Secondary Analysis. The American journal of nursing In adults with asthma, higher indoor PM2.5 levels correlated with higher perceived stress scores. Traffic exposure did not significantly increase stress or indoor PM2.5 levels. Nurses should assess home air quality and stress together, as traffic alone did not explain the link. RN Other 2025 Measuring Recovery Using the Individual Recovery Outcomes Counter: A Cross-Sectional Multi-Center Study on Structural Validity in Dutch Mental Health Care. International journal of mental health nursing The I.ROC total score can give a useful overall picture of recovery in Dutch mental health clients, but subscale scores are not consistently dependable. Use the 12 items and total score; be cautious with subscales. RN Survey 2025 Resilience and its association with caregiving and psychosocial factors among lung cancer caregivers in Vietnam. European journal of oncology nursing : the official journal of European Oncology Nursing Society Half of 213 lung cancer caregivers in Vietnam had low resilience. Higher preparedness, quality of life, and family support were associated with better resilience; depression, burden, and longer stays were associated with worse. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem Among 227 people with schizophrenia, poorer adjustment in social, school, and work roles before psychosis onset was linked to higher self-stigma profiles. Ethnicity, gender, untreated psychosis duration, and symptom severity were not significant predictors. RN Other 2025 Creating an Empirically Informed Mental Health Workbook for Racialised Newcomer Youth in Saskatchewan: Community-Based Participatory Action Research. International journal of mental health nursing Pilot users reported the workbook increased mental health literacy, validated their stress experiences, and motivated self-care. This was a development report with no control group, so it shows the tool was well-received, not that it improves outcomes. RN RCT 2025 Lack of Association of Emotional Distress With Insulin Initiation in the GRADE Randomized Diabetes Comparative Effectiveness Trial. The science of diabetes self-management and care Depressive symptoms and diabetes distress showed no clear association with starting basal or rapid-acting insulin when A1C reached the trial's insulin intensification thresholds. In analyzed samples, 178 of 525 never started basal insulin, and 106 of 325 started rapid-acting insulin. RN Survey 2025 Health and Quality of Life in Nursing Homes: A Repeated Cross-Sectional Study on the Impact of Leadership and Person-Centred Care. Nursing open Staff-rated person-centred care was linked to better quality of life, fewer neuropsychiatric symptoms and better cognition in nursing home residents. Leadership was not. Some social interactions had mixed links, and links did not change over time. RN Meta-Analysis 2025 The Effectiveness of Patient-Centered Digital Empowerment Programs in Hematological Cancer Care: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing Fatigue did not improve when blood cancer patients used digital empowerment programs, but depression, distress, self-efficacy and quality of life showed small positive changes.
