RN Cohort 2026 Factors associated with the interruption of exclusive breastfeeding and weaning in premature infants after hospital discharge: a prospective cohort study. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem Preterm infants' exclusive breastfeeding fell from 71.7% at discharge to 64.6% by 15-30 days. Not being exclusively breastfed at discharge was associated with 6.13 times higher later weaning risk. Nurses can prioritise support before discharge. RN Other 2026 Association of dietary energy and protein intake with frailty among patients with cirrhosis and implications for nursing practice. International journal of nursing sciences Higher energy, protein, and animal-protein intake were linked to lower frailty in patients with cirrhosis. Thresholds were 30 kcal/(kg·d) energy and 0.83 g/(kg·d) protein. This is association only, not proof diet prevents frailty. RN RCT 2026 Mindfulness and communication intervention for mothers of children with developmental disabilities in Yangon: A randomized controlled trial on parental stress and problem-solving communication. International journal of nursing sciences Mothers of children with developmental disabilities who added a mindfulness and communication program, including home practice and phone follow-up, to routine daycare services reported lower stress through 12 weeks. Their problem-solving communication did not clearly improve more than routine services over time. RN Other 2026 Effects of family-based nursing interventions on mothers' knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy related to stunting prevention in Indonesia: A quasi-experimental study. International journal of nursing sciences A seven-week family-based nursing program significantly improved mothers' knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy regarding stunting prevention. These gains persisted three months after the program ended, suggesting the intervention effectively empowered caregivers within the family context. RN Survey 2026 Stigma, Perceptions, and Parental Responses to Children's Head Lice Infestation in Greece. The Journal of school health Greek parents feared peer mockery, school judgment, and shame from head lice. Some linked it to hygiene or biology, but cultural prejudice was low. How often lice occurred was not closely tied to these concerns. RN RCT 2026 Transition to Virtual Diabetes Self-Management Education Delivery in the Setting of Health Care Disruption for Adults With Diabetes and Their Support Persons. The science of diabetes self-management and care Virtual and hybrid diabetes education allowed continued group participation during pandemic, but care-management call completion fell and support-person attendance rose in the family-focused arm. RN RCT 2026 Effect of Online Infant Care Education Based on Meleis's Transition Theory on Breastfeeding Success and Discharge Readiness: A Randomized Controlled Trial. International journal of nursing practice First-time mothers who received online infant care education during pregnancy had higher postpartum breastfeeding success and discharge readiness scores than controls. The control group also received the materials, and both groups received postpartum breastfeeding training. RN Pilot 2026 Usability of the "Be Yourself" IA-powered, chatbot-based website for the prevention of adolescent pregnancy. Investigacion y educacion en enfermeria Adolescents liked the chatbot at first, but found it less usable after two months. It provided confidential sexual health information, but the study did not show it prevents pregnancy or changes behaviour. RN Survey 2026 Conflict resolution tactics between mothers and children in a capital city in southeastern Brazil: prevalence and correlations. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Among 418 mothers in Brazil, most used non-violent discipline, but many also reported aggressive tactics: 81.8% yelled, 70.8% spanked, 61.7% threatened slaps, and 23.4% hit other body parts with objects. RN Other 2026 Perinatal care during the COVID-19 pandemic in the state of Paraná. Revista brasileira de enfermagem In Paraná maternity care during the pandemic, skin-to-skin contact was linked to Apgar scores of 7 and above at 1 and 5 minutes, and referral to a reference hospital was linked to the 1-minute score. For vaginal births, no good practice showed this pattern. RN Meta-Analysis 2026 Coping, Subjective Burden and Mental Health in Family Carers of Dependent Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review With Meta-Analysis. Journal of psychiatric and mental health nursing Dysfunctional coping (avoidance, self-blame, venting, behavioural disengagement) was consistently linked to higher anxiety, depression and caregiver burden in family carers of dependent children. Emotion-focused coping was linked to fewer depressive symptoms, but the evidence was less stable. RN RCT 2026 The Effect of an Art Practice-Based Psycho-Training Program on Psychological Well-Being, Care Burden, Expression of Emotions, and Coping Levels of Mothers Who Have Children With Special Needs. Nursing open Mothers of children with special needs reported higher psychological well-being, lower caregiver burden, better coping and emotional expression after a 15-workshop multi-component psycho-training program. No control group was used, so these changes cannot be proven to result from the program. RN Case Report 2026 The Lived Experience of Delirium in a Critically Ill Child: A Narrative Study. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences A critically ill child described delirium as being lost, pursued and paralysed. He described ways to orient: his mother, hearing his name, light, feeling the floor, and familiar media. This is one child's account, not evidence treatment works. PT RN RCT 2026 The Effect of Peanut Ball Use on the Labour Process and Maternal-Neonatal Outcomes in Parturient Women With High Maternal Body Mass Index: A Randomized Controlled Trial. International journal of nursing practice Peanut ball positioning did not shorten active labour. In high-BMI women without pharmacologic analgesia, upright sitting on a peanut ball lowered end-of-active-phase pain and increased birth satisfaction. RN Case Report 2026 High-Tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication in a Burn Patient With Voicelessness: A Case Study. Nursing in critical care A motion-sensor tablet allowed a voiceless burn patient to communicate specific needs and complex sentences. Nurses reported better care and no increased workload, while the patient and family reported reduced distress and improved connection. RN Cohort 2026 Mothers' Views and Experiences of Digital Maternal Presence Intervention and Skin-to-Skin Contact for Neonatal Pain Relief: A Qualitative Study. Nursing open Mothers saw skin-to-skin contact as the best pain relief, though they noted it is slow and requires staff flexibility. Digital maternal heartbeat pads were valued for maintaining a bond when the mother could not be present, despite uncertainty about their analgesic effect. RN Cohort 2026 Associations between pregnancy-related anxiety and positive health behaviors across pregnancy in a sample of low-income, vulnerable women. Midwifery At the first pregnancy interview, higher pregnancy-related anxiety was associated with fewer positive health behaviours. The association was not seen over time and appeared only in women with elevated depression, state anxiety or PTSD symptoms. RN Cohort 2026 Dislodgement Rates of Tunneled Femoral Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters in Pediatric Oncology Patients. Journal of infusion nursing : the official publication of the Infusion Nurses Society In children with cancer, tunneled femoral PICCs had a 12.41% dislodgement rate compared with 40.95% for upper arm PICCs. They also stayed in longer, averaging 181.50 days versus 114.97 days. This supports tunneled femoral placement for reducing catheter loss. RN Survey 2026 The Effects of Social Support on Newborn Hygienic Care and Breastfeeding Intentions in Primigravid Pregnancies: A Cross-Sectional Descriptive Study. Scandinavian journal of caring sciences Among 360 first-time pregnant women, higher perceived social support was associated with greater readiness for hygienic newborn care and stronger intention to breastfeed. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc A six-session CBT plus sensory modulation programme was followed by reduced anxiety, better functioning, and four of six children no longer meeting anxiety disorder criteria at follow-up. It was acceptable to five of six mothers, but the study was small and had no comparison group. RN Other 2026 Breastfeeding and Father Support: Bibliometric Analysis. Journal of human lactation : official journal of International Lactation Consultant Association Research on father support in breastfeeding has grown significantly, with 516 publications since 1989, but this bibliometric analysis maps citation trends and topics, not clinical outcomes. It cannot tell you if involving fathers improves breastfeeding rates. RN Qualitative 2026 Innovative education for adolescent mothers in neonatal care: practices in nursing training. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Adolescent mothers and nursing students described newborn-care workshops using dolls, simulations, and feedback as increasing maternal confidence and student empathy. These are reported experiences, not evidence that the programme improves discharge outcomes. RN Other 2026 Delayed infant development: content analysis of a nursing diagnosis proposal. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Nurse experts validated a new diagnosis for infant developmental delay. It defines delay as missing two or more milestones in cognition, language, or social skills. This gives nurses a standardized checklist for early screening in infants. RN Qualitative 2026 Facilitators and barriers to implementing a breastfeeding protocol for premature newborns. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Mothers and staff said a breastfeeding protocol for premature babies depends on practical things: nearby bathrooms, comfortable chairs, milk expression space, consistent team guidance, and early support. Without these, mothers struggle to stay, pump, and feed their babies. RN Qualitative 2026 Adolescents' Experiences of Being a Sibling of a Child With Type 1 Diabetes: A Qualitative Study. The science of diabetes self-management and care Siblings of children with type 1 diabetes described fear, feeling left out, and disrupted sleep, but also growing confidence. They wanted health professionals to explain diabetes early and include them as family. RN Other 2026 Scoping Review of Adolescent Autonomy and Responsibility for Managing Chronic Physical Conditions. Nursing research Adolescents with chronic physical conditions described taking on self-management as uneven: setbacks were more common after premature transfer, illness, or distrust. Age did not always match readiness, and adolescents reported that direct clinician communication and clear plans increased satisfaction. RN Qualitative 2026 The Overwhelming Challenge of Losing One's Sense of Wholeness: A Grounded Theory Study on Women's Experiential Process of Birth Trauma. The journal of nursing research : JNR Women described birth trauma as losing their sense of wholeness: unbearable pain, loss of dignity, ignored emotions, exposed privacy, and endless waiting. They also described never wanting another birth. RN Survey 2026 Mental Health Outcome Trends in a Nationally Representative Sample of Canadian Migrant Adolescents From 2014 to 2022. The Journal of school health Adolescent self-reported mental health worsened over time, especially for girls. Gaps between migrant and nonmigrant youth mostly stayed similar; migrant girls reported fewer health complaints and higher confidence than nonmigrant girls. RN Other 2026 Intravenous Smart Pump Alarms in Everyday Hospital Use: A Real-world Descriptive Analysis. Dimensions of critical care nursing : DCCN Baxter IV pumps produced 5,129,505 alarms over 1,102,303 infusions. Most were downstream occlusion, air-in-line, infusion-complete, or upstream occlusion. 99% of starts generated a completion alarm. RN Survey 2026 Adolescent Online Gaming in Jordan: A Cross-Sectional Study on Habits and Health Perceptions Through the Health Belief Model. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc Jordanian adolescents averaged 3.1 gaming hours daily. RN Survey 2026 Factors Predicting Depression Among Thai Adolescents During the Transition From the COVID-19 Pandemic to the Endemic Phase. Journal of child and adolescent psychiatric nursing : official publication of the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurses, Inc In 605 Thai high school students, perceived stress was most strongly linked with depressive symptoms, and avoidance coping also mattered. Approach coping and social support did not add separate information after stress and avoidance were considered. RN Survey 2026 Investigating the Relationship Between Psychological Well-Being and Social Appearance Anxiety in Adolescents in Türkiye: A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open Adolescents with higher social appearance anxiety reported significantly lower psychological well-being. Those who participated in regular social and physical activities, or attended school, had higher well-being and lower anxiety scores. These associations were independent of age, gender, or socioeconomic status. RN Survey 2026 Factors associated with fear of childbirth in pregnant women in a University Hospital in Southern Brazil. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Pregnant women with very high fear of childbirth reported significantly more fear of panicking, losing control, intense pain, prolonged labor, and uncertainty about labor duration. Screening for these specific anticipatory fears in the third trimester can identify women needing extra emotional support. RN Qualitative 2026 Transition and Transfer in Adolescence and Emerging Adulthood in Type 1 Diabetes: A Qualitative Study of Parents' Experiences. Nursing open Parents of young adults with type 1 diabetes described feeling abruptly cut off from healthcare at transfer, losing relationships with trusted paediatric nurses and any role in adult visits. They wanted a bridge and individualised handover. RN Other 2026 The Psychometric Properties of the Caregiver Feeding Style Questionnaire: A Cross-Cultural Validation in Spanish Parents. Research in nursing & health Spanish version of a caregiver feeding style questionnaire may be usable, but the shorter 13-item version seems most practical. Two items were confusing and did not work well, and the evidence was mixed rather than strong. RN Case-Control 2026 Retreatment after loss of follow-up in adolescent and young adult patients living with HIV: a case-control study. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem Adolescents and young adults with HIV who did not practice religion were more likely to return to care after dropping out. Those who were female, used alcohol, lived in institutions, were diagnosed at counseling centers, or had missed appointments were less likely to return. RN Survey 2026 Posttraumatic Stress in Caregivers of Burn-Injured Children: A Cross-Sectional Study. The American journal of nursing 48.33% of caregivers of children with burn injuries reached the score threshold for posttraumatic stress symptoms. Witnessing the burn had a greater influence among factors tested. The finding points to caregiver distress, not only child injury. RN Pilot 2026 Feasibility of an Online Resilience Program for Mothers With Adverse Childhood Experiences. Research in nursing & health Five mothers finished the online resilience program, with 97.5% session attendance and satisfaction 9.80 out of 10. Resilience and positive parenting scores improved, but the small uncontrolled pilot cannot show the program works. RN Survey 2026 Health literacy of adolescents using hormonal contraceptives and associated factors. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Most adolescents using hormonal contraceptives had high health literacy, but more than half struggled to read and understand the medication leaflet. Nurses should check leaflet comprehension rather than assume the leaflet was understood. RN Cohort 2026 Treatment failure in adolescents and young people living with HIV: a cohort study. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Of 512 adolescents and young people with HIV, 160 had poor adherence and 197 were lost to follow-up. Missed appointments, delayed ART, a sexual partner, and drug use were linked to these failures. RN RCT 2026 Dermatological Safety of Chlorhexidine-Impregnated Dressings in Paediatric Intensive Care: A Randomised Clinical Trial. Nursing in critical care Skin lesions were not clearly different overall between PICU central line dressings. Infants with chlorhexidine developed lesions much earlier. Catheter infections were lower, but that was a secondary outcome. RN Qualitative 2026 Experiences of older adults who have lost a child: reflections on grief and for nursing. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Older adults bereaved by a child’s death described grief as lasting and unlike other losses. They relied on faith, prayer, cemetery visits, and private mourning.
