The study is cross-sectional, so it cannot prove that dysfunction in one area causes dysfunction in another. It only shows they occur together. The participants were mostly from the Nanjing area of China, which may limit the generalizability of the findings to other cultural or healthcare contexts. The model lacks comprehensive factors such as gender differences or underlying health conditions, which the authors note requires a larger sample size to investigate. The findings have not yet been clinically validated in real-world settings.
