Cross-cultural adaptation of Family Satisfaction with Care in the Intensive Care Unit 24R - Brazilian version.

The pre-test was small and convenience-sampled: only 30 family members took part, and 22 originally agreed before others were asked to complete the 30. Most participants had completed high school or higher education, and online collection may have excluded people with lower education, so understanding may not apply to all families. Data were collected more than a year after ICU admission, during pandemic telephone or online contact, so recall and communication context may affect responses. This was content validity and a pre-test, not full psychometric validation; the authors say larger-sample testing is still needed. Items 2a, 2b and 2c had low correlations with the total, and the decision to keep them was deferred to a larger sample. The expert committee included only seven reviewers, and semantic equivalence was lower than other domains.

Do not read this as proof that the questionnaire is fully validated or that using it improves ICU family care. It was content-validated by seven experts and pre-tested in 30 family members, and the authors state that psychometric properties still need testing in a larger sample.
