RN Qualitative 2025 Parents' Experiences of Communication With School Nurses About Their Child's Weight Development in Sweden. The Journal of school nursing : the official publication of the National Association of School Nurses Parents described school nurse health visits as unclear, with little feedback and no access to growth charts. They wanted a digital channel, child-centered talks, and collaboration around their child's weight and context. This is experience, not proof. OT RN Qualitative 2025 Exploring how 'wish-granting' interventions foster wellbeing for children with life-threatening health conditions and their families: A qualitative study. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Families and professionals described wish-granting as creating joy, anticipation, and shared memories that helped children with life-threatening conditions cope with treatment and see new possibilities. It reports experiences, not proof the intervention works. RN Qualitative 2025 Adolescents' Experience of Pain: A Focus Group Study in Sweden. The Journal of school nursing : the official publication of the National Association of School Nurses Adolescents described pain as a warning bell from stress, schoolwork, relationships, and grief. They managed it by distracting themselves, enduring, using painkillers or heat pads, and asking parents, friends, or school nurses for help. RN Pilot 2025 Translating 'proportionate universal healthcare' into meaningful system design to optimize equity in child and family services. Journal of advanced nursing Child and family health nursing contacts before redesign did not vary by family risk. In the pilot, nurses reported less faking but no burnout improvement, while MECSH home-visiting families showed increased good ability to adapt and self-manage. RN Other 2025 Building a baby-friendly community: Development, strategy, implementation and evaluation of a BFCI program. Journal of advanced nursing Baby-friendly community workshops increased women's confidence in breastfeeding and improved public venue staff knowledge and attitudes after training. The before-and-after design, heavy attrition, and short follow-up mean this shows learning changes, not proven breastfeeding duration. RN Qualitative 2025 Adolescent and caregiver perceptions of addressing mental health in inflammatory bowel disease. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Adolescents with IBD and caregivers said stigma, trust, and who was present shaped mental health talks. Direct, nonjudgmental questions were valued, but written screening alone was not enough. Ask each patient how they want these conversations. RN Qualitative 2025 Factors that support children and young people to express their views and to have them heard in healthcare: An inductive qualitative content analysis. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Twenty children aged 7 to 18 said being heard depended on staff making time, building trusting relationships, using understandable words, including them in team meetings, and family support. RN Other 2025 Implementation frameworks, strategies and outcomes in optimizing central venous access device practice in paediatrics: A scoping review. Journal of advanced nursing Paediatric central line care studies mostly used quality improvement, education, bundles and working groups, but many lacked formal frameworks or cost outcomes, so it is hard to know which implementation efforts work. RN Cohort 2025 A Comprehensive Assessment of the Environmental Impact of Different Infant Feeding Types: The Observational Study GREEN MOTHER. Journal of advanced nursing Exclusive breastfeeding had lower environmental impact than formula feeding, even after accounting for breast pumps and accessories. Maternal diet impacts did not differ by feeding type. The study reports environmental impacts, not infant health benefits. RN Systematic Review 2025 Parents' perceptions of patient safety in paediatric hospital care-A mixed-methods systematic review. Journal of advanced nursing Parents of hospitalized children are willing and ready to help monitor safety, but they often stay silent for fear of appearing rude or causing trouble for their child. Clinicians must explicitly invite parents to speak up and verify care details to unlock this safety resource. RN Survey 2025 Children's and parents' attitudes to and knowledge about HPV vaccination following a targeted information intervention. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Most children were already vaccinated, and parents trusted school nurses most for HPV information. Still, many families had not seen the national information package, and parents worried about side effects. RN Qualitative 2025 Using FRAME Documentation to Achieve RE-AIM Goals During Iterative, Stakeholder-Engaged Refinement of a Family Management Intervention for Parents of Preterm Infants. Journal of advanced nursing Parents and NICU clinicians asked for a video parent-training program for very preterm infants to be easier to access, more inclusive, and less dependent on staff time. Nurses may use these requests to adapt parent education, but no tested effects on parents or infants. RN Other 2025 Adolescent Chlamydia Screening in Pediatric Primary Care: A Quality Improvement Project. Journal of advanced nursing Screening for chlamydia at adolescent well visits rose from 7.8% to 34.1% when all adolescents were offered testing, regardless of reported sexual activity, through a bundled workflow; 32 chlamydia and 4 gonorrhea cases were identified. RN Systematic Review 2025 Crying wolf, alarm safety and management in paediatrics: A scoping review. Journal of advanced nursing Alarm definitions and measurement methods vary widely across 37 paediatric and neonatal studies, preventing comparison of interventions. Most research focuses on critical care in the US. Changing alarm parameters is the most common strategy, but inconsistent terminology makes it impossible to determine which approaches truly improve patient safety. SLP RN Qualitative 2026 Investigating parental perspectives of the enablers and barriers to communication with their preterm infants: A narrative study. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Mothers said neonatal staff gave inconsistent communication support. Nurses focused on touch and skin-to-skin, while specific talking, reading cues and home follow-up varied. SLP RN Other 2025 Reducing the Duration to Reach Full Enteral and Oral Feeding Volumes for Very Preterm and Extremely Preterm Infants: A Quality Improvement Project. The Journal of perinatal & neonatal nursing In 96 preterm infants, a bundle of feeding protocol, readiness assessment, oral motor work, breastfeeding support, and team feeding plans did not clearly reduce time to full enteral feeding, full oral feeding, or hospital stay. Only subgroups suggested possible benefit. RN Qualitative 2026 An evaluation of the impact of a cancer support specialist service on families of children with cancer and the multidisciplinary team in a children's health service in Ireland. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Parents and team members described a Cancer Support Specialist service as offering informal relational, navigational, mediation, respite and sibling support. They reported it helped families access support and allowed team members more time for clinical work. RN Systematic Review 2026 The health and well-being of children with medical complexity and their parents' when admitted to inpatient care units: A scoping review. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Parents of medically complex children described hospital stays as exhausting, frightening, and sometimes driving thoughts of suicide. Children wanted routines, play, and staff who made them feel comfortable. The review mostly maps experiences, so it does not prove treatments. RN Other 2025 The Kids Pain Collaborative: A Hybrid Type 3 Implementation Effectiveness Study Transforming Paediatric Pain Care in the Emergency Department. Journal of advanced nursing After a paediatric emergency department pain project, nurse-initiated analgesia and triage pain scoring increased, but time to first pain medicine did not improve. Pandemic workload confounded the findings. RN Cohort 2025 A Prospective Cohort Study of Technique and Technology Used to Improve First Time PIVC Insertion Success in Hospitalised Paediatric Patients. Journal of advanced nursing In hospitalised children, only 156 of 250 peripheral IVs were placed on the first attempt. Vascular access specialists and ultrasound guidance were linked with higher first-attempt success among final successful inserters. RN Qualitative 2025 An Acceptability and Feasibility Study of a Nurse-Led Model of Contraception and Abortion Care in Rural General Practice. Journal of advanced nursing Rural general practice nurses and doctors viewed a nurse-led contraception and abortion model as acceptable and feasible. They identified funding barriers, specifically the lack of Medicare item numbers for nurses, and the need for strong GP-nurse trust and accessible training as key to implementation. RN Other 2025 Identifying Adolescent and Young Adults' Preferences for Oncology Symptom Management Clinical Trial Participation. Cancer nursing AYA cancer survivors preferred symptom-management trials with a treatment type they valued and a topic they saw as important. They favored shorter, once-weekly, under-30-minute visits and electronic surveys; 64% chose an alternative trial design. RN Other 2025 A Mixed Methods Evaluation of a Nurse-Led Domestic and Family Violence Service. Journal of advanced nursing 233 women in a nurse-led domestic violence service were contacted quickly and assessed for injuries, including strangulation. Staff said outreach and coordination helped them reach health care. This was a service evaluation, not a tested intervention. PT RN Other 2026 Associations Between Frailty, Family Functioning, and Quality of Life in Adolescents With Congenital Heart Disease: A Cross-Sectional Study. Journal of advanced nursing Adolescents with congenital heart disease who were frail or had moderate or severe family dysfunction reported lower quality of life. Frailty was especially linked to exhaustion and reduced activity in those with worse heart function. RN Cohort 2025 Perceived Discrimination, Trauma, Mental Health, and Blood Pressure Outcomes Among Young African American/Black Mothers in the InterGEN Study. The Journal of cardiovascular nursing Among young African American/Black mothers, more reported racial discrimination and race-related trauma was linked to increases in systolic blood pressure over 6 months. Depressive symptoms were not linked to systolic blood pressure change. RN Qualitative 2025 'I Was Shattered and Broken': Unmasking the Experiences and Responses of Black Canadian to Pregnancy Loss. The Canadian journal of nursing research = Revue canadienne de recherche en sciences infirmieres Black Canadian women described pregnancy loss as numbness, denial, isolation, self-blame, and fear of future pregnancy. Some said healthcare providers offered little emotional support, so they leaned on faith, family, and online groups to cope. RN Qualitative 2025 Parents' Experiences of Family-Centred Care in Home-Based Paediatric Care of Their Child With Life-Limiting Illness: A Qualitative Descriptive Study. Journal of advanced nursing Parents valued home-based care for children with life-limiting illness but found it burdensome when services were not tailored. They wanted privacy, sibling support, inclusion in decisions and competent home care teams. RN Other 2025 Community Supervision Engagement to Examine Health Outcomes: A Scoping Review. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) Only 11 studies were found for people on probation or parole, and the one randomized trial found no effect on probation violations. Collaboration and empathy were reported as factors that supported care access, while stigma, transport and medication gaps were reported as barriers. RN Systematic Review 2026 Substance Use Disorders in Adolescents: A Qualitative Systematic Review. Journal of advanced nursing Adolescents with substance use disorder described starting use through curiosity, family conflict, peers and easy access, then facing health, school, family and legal harms. They asked for motivated, nonjudgmental treatment with family support and coping skills. RN Cohort 2026 Relationship Between Health Literacy, Health Protective Behaviour, Quality of Life and Social Health in Older Adults Living in the Community. Journal of clinical nursing Older adults had an average social health score of 50.48 ± 8.98 on a scale from 5 to 125. Lower scores were linked to older age, higher health literacy, lower quality of life, living alone, living with children, higher education and poor health perception. RN Other 2025 Nursing Research on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals-A Bibliometric Analysis. Journal of advanced nursing A map of nursing literature shows almost no research on how nurses deliver care that is environmentally sustainable. Most studies discuss policy or education, not patient outcomes, leaving clinicians without evidence on how to reduce waste or emissions in daily practice. RN Qualitative 2025 Parents' Experiences of Holding Their Child for Healthcare Procedures: A Qualitative Exploratory Study. Journal of advanced nursing Parents described moving between comforter, helper and enforcer roles while protecting their child during hospital procedures. Agreeing one clear role beforehand may help them support the child. RN RCT 2026 Efficacy of Virtual Reality vs. Tablet Games for Pain and Anxiety in Children Undergoing Bone Pins Removal: Randomised Clinical Trial. Journal of advanced nursing For children undergoing bone pin or suture removal, VR and tablet games produced similar pain and anxiety outcomes after the procedure. VR was not superior, though parents and healthcare professionals preferred it. RN Other 2026 Family-centred care research in paediatrics: A scoping review. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Paediatric family-centred care research is broad but uneven: 579 studies were mostly cross-sectional surveys, hospital-based and North American, with inconsistent definitions and limited father, sibling and non-English family input. RN RCT 2026 A Neonatal Nurse-Controlled Model of Analgesia to Manage Post-Operative Pain in the Surgical Neonate: A Pilot Randomised Controlled Trial. Journal of advanced nursing Nurse-controlled neonatal analgesia was feasible in parts but not fully: staff found pathways useful but hard to follow, pain scoring often missed, and recruitment fell short. The pilot did not establish whether this model reduces infant pain or improves recovery. RN Survey 2026 Parenting in Armed Political Conflict: Relationships Between Parental Efficacy, Reflective Functioning, and Age Among War-Displaced Families. Journal of advanced nursing War exposure alone showed no direct link to displaced parents' sense of efficacy. Older parents and those with stronger parent-child relationships reported higher efficacy, and age changed how exposure related to efficacy. RN Cohort 2026 Predictive Performance of Device-Neonatal Skin Risk Assessment Scale to Evaluating Pressure Injuries Risk in the Neonates. An Observational Multicenter Study. Journal of clinical nursing In 137 NICU neonates, 9 developed pressure injuries, mostly from devices. A device-adjusted score ≤11 in the first 24 hours predicted injuries better than Glamorgan. RN Other 2026 The Omission of Nursing Care in Emergency Departments: A Conceptual Analysis Using Walker & Avant's Methodology. Journal of advanced nursing Essential emergency nursing tasks such as monitoring, pain reassessment and discharge instructions can be left undone when staffing, workload and equipment gaps combine. No emergency-specific tool captures this well. RN Other 2025 Assessment of Surgical Site Infection Prevention Strategies in Obstetric Nursing Practice: A Retrospective Analysis. Journal of nursing care quality Cesarean patients cared for by nurses trained in a comprehensive prevention package had fewer infections (3.0% vs 10.0%), less pain on days 1 and 2, fewer complications, and better wound healing than standard care. RN Qualitative 2026 You Can't Hold Their Hand the Whole Time: A Qualitative Study of Parents' Experiences of Adolescents With Food Allergy. Journal of advanced nursing Parents of adolescents with food allergy described constant worry, family restrictions, and difficulty trusting their child to manage allergies. Misconceptions and poor confidence in using adrenaline persisted despite years of experience. RN Cohort 2026 Factors Affecting the Quality of Life of Parents of Children With Spina Bifida: The Mediating Role of Family Resilience. Journal of advanced nursing Parental quality of life was lower when parents had more depression or stress, had low income, or had children needing enemas. Family resilience was linked to better quality of life and partly linked depression to quality of life. RN Survey 2026 Mediating Effects of Family and Clinical Characteristics on the Quality of Life of Children With Spina Bifida and Their Parents. Journal of advanced nursing In 141 spina bifida parent-child pairs, higher parenting stress tracked with lower quality of life for both. Family resilience was part of this link. Transition readiness was not part of the link overall, but may matter when children had incontinence, catheter or mobility needs. RN Survey 2025 Pregnancy, Birth, and Mental Health Outcomes Associated With Recent Reproductive Coercion and Intimate Partner Violence in a Crowd-Sourced National Sample. Journal of midwifery & women's health Reproductive coercion alone was linked to preterm birth and low birth weight, but when combined with other partner violence, the risk of unplanned pregnancy and suicidal thoughts rose sharply. Screening for coercion and violence is essential for perinatal mental health. RN Survey 2025 Climate Change Awareness: Does It Affect the Fertility Desire? Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) Higher climate change awareness was associated with slightly lower fertility desire in 440 married women without children in Türkiye. The link was weak, so climate concern alone should not be assumed to explain childbearing plans. RN Systematic Review 2026 Diverse Parental Experiences of Kangaroo Care in Neonatal Units Across Healthcare Systems: A Meta-Synthesis. Journal of advanced nursing Across 25 studies, parents described Kangaroo Care as emotionally rewarding but physically and psychologically hard. Staff support, privacy, practical teaching and family help were linked to continuing, especially where resources were limited. RN Cohort 2026 Model Predicting Positive Aspects of Caregiving Among Family Cares of Persons With Dementia: A Longitudinal Cohort Study. Journal of advanced nursing Family carers of people with dementia reported more positive aspects of caregiving when they had confidence in controlling upsetting thoughts and getting respite, and when they reframed the situation. Active dementia management strategies did not predict this. RN Qualitative 2026 Parental decision-making for non-urgent emergency department presentations in Victoria, Australia. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Parents who took a child to an emergency department for a non-urgent problem said anxiety and lack of timely primary care made the ED feel like the only place. They wanted quick reassurance and answers, not always a better doctor. RN Case-Control 2025 Postpartum Hemorrhage and the Likelihood of Exclusive Breastfeeding Through 6 Months Postpartum: A Case-Control Study. Journal of midwifery & women's health People who had postpartum hemorrhage were less likely to exclusively breastfeed at 4 and 6 months and stopped about 5 weeks earlier. The study shows an association, not that hemorrhage caused lower breastfeeding. RN Other 2026 Understanding Why Parents Say Yes or No to Organ Donation When Their Child Dies: Mixed-Methods Study. Journal of advanced nursing Parents approached about organ donation as an end-of-life option for their child consented 49% of the time, and the rate fell from 59% to 37%. Nurse notes recorded timing, distress, beliefs, surgery concerns and limited time after death as factors in choices. RN Qualitative 2026 How Classmates Experience Visiting Their Hospitalised Peer During Cancer Treatment: A RESPECT Study. Journal of advanced nursing Classmates visiting hospitalised peers felt excited and motivated to support them, but needed nurse briefings and adult backup to handle uncertainty, hospital rules and the child’s changing condition. ← Previous PAGE 18 OF 25 Next →
