RN Survey 2026 The Mediating Role of Patient Satisfaction With Nursing Care Quality in the Association Between Provision of Compassionate Care and Patient Loyalty: A Cross-Sectional Study. Nursing open Hospitalized patients who rated nurses' compassionate care higher also reported greater satisfaction with nursing care and loyalty to the hospital. Patients expected more compassionate care than they received, and their satisfaction was linked to loyalty. RN RCT 2026 Effect of a Stoma Care Training Belt on Stoma Care Skills, Adjustment, Anxiety and Satisfaction in Intestinal Stoma Patients: Randomized Controlled Study. Nursing open In intestinal stoma patients, preoperative nurse training with a wearable belt raised skill and adjustment scores, lowered anxiety after discharge, and improved education satisfaction versus standard care. RN Qualitative 2026 Coping with COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit admission. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Survivors of COVID-19 intensive care described lasting fatigue, breathlessness, memory problems, anxiety and depression. They valued nurses' comforting words, touch, listening and monitoring, and said the experience made them cherish health, family and simple daily moments. RN Other 2026 Development and Validation of a Chinese Version of the Readiness for Hospital Discharge Instrument After Initial Invasive Percutaneous Transhepatic Biliary Drainage: A Methodological Study. Nursing open A Chinese 22-item questionnaire for patients with biliary drains asks about drain knowledge, coping, personal readiness and support. It may help nurses spot gaps before discharge, but has not yet been shown to reduce complications or readmission. RN Qualitative 2026 Ethnic Disparities in Clinical Decision-Making for Rapid Tranquillisation in Adult Forensic Mental Health Inpatient Settings: A Qualitative Study. International journal of mental health nursing Staff documentation showed similar medication and restraint patterns across ethnic groups, but ethnic-minority patients had shorter warning signs, less documented negotiation and planning, and less debriefing after forced sedation. RN Other 2026 Exploratory Analysis of Factors Associated With Pressure Injuries in Surgical Patients Assessed With the ELPO Scale. International journal of nursing practice In 2698 surgical patients, lateral positioning and thermal mattress use were linked to more pressure injuries, while protective cover use was linked to fewer. The prediction models were not ready to guide care. RN Qualitative 2026 Patient Experiences of Perioperative Care in Lumbar Spine Surgery: A Qualitative Study. Nursing open Patients after lumbar spine surgery described severe preoperative pain, fear of losing ability to walk, relief after surgery, and early difficulty moving. Clear explanations and trust in staff were important to feeling safe; some still worried about recurrence. PT RN Other 2026 Application of patient-reported outcome instruments in nonsurgical management of pelvic organ prolapse: a scoping review. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Care for pelvic organ prolapse without surgery uses many questionnaires completed by patients, mainly for symptoms, quality of life or treatment outcomes. No one tool covers all key concerns, and timing varies. This maps practice; it does not prove any treatment works. RN Qualitative 2026 Project-of-being in transformation: existential experience in bariatric surgery in light of phenomenology. Revista brasileira de enfermagem People after bariatric surgery described hope and anguish: improved self-esteem alongside fear of regain, compulsive eating, unfamiliar bodies, regret, and missing emotional support. RN Qualitative 2026 A model for professional nurses to facilitate culturally sensitive nursing care for children. Curationis Nurses and mothers of hospitalised children described cultural care as strained by nurses’ knowledge gaps, misunderstood expectations and disregard for cultural practices. A model developed from these interviews asks nurses to clarify values, assess culture and partner with families. RN Qualitative 2026 Appreciation and coping strategies adopted by children hospitalized for COVID-19 and their primary caregivers. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Children hospitalized for COVID-19 and their caregivers described fear, boredom, isolation, pain and worry about death. They coped through family contact, screens, play, self-care, faith, staying with the child and talking with staff. RN Qualitative 2026 Collaboration With Clinicians in Inpatient Mental Healthcare: A Qualitative Investigation of Consumer Perspectives. International journal of mental health nursing Consumers in involuntary mental health care said collaboration often failed, especially around medication decisions. They felt dismissed as psychotic when ordinary concerns were recorded as illness. Warm, present relationships with clinicians, including nurses, made them feel safe enough to collaborate. RN Cohort 2026 Trends in Pediatric Mental Health-Related Emergency Department Visits During the School Year and School Breaks. The Journal of school health School breaks did not coincide with more suicidal ideation visits, but visits during breaks were more often admitted or transferred. Youth mental health ED visits rose after August 2020. RN Cohort 2026 Sleep Characteristics of Parents of Children in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit: A Pilot Observational Study. Nursing in critical care Parents of children in a Korean PICU reported poor sleep, and 14 parents met insomnia criteria. Wrist sensors did not line up with questionnaire scores, and stress was not linked to sleep, so asking and measuring may give different pictures. RN Qualitative 2026 Using Buzzy ® in venipunctures: perceptions of children and adolescents with congenital cardiopathies. Revista latino-americana de enfermagem Most children and adolescents with congenital heart disease said venipuncture felt less painful and frightening with Buzzy. They described numbness, relaxation, distraction, and feeling calmer. Two said pain felt the same. RN Qualitative 2026 Nurses' and Families' Experiences of a Feasibility Trial Comparing Single-Use and Multiple-Use Endotracheal Suction Catheters in Mechanically Ventilated Patients: A Qualitative Study. Nursing in critical care Nurses said chlorhexidine flushing made suctioning feel cleaner, but shortages, policy and workload made consistent use hard. Families often consented through trust and clear, patient explanations rather than full understanding. RN Other 2026 Bridging Parental Perceptions and Experiences of Family-Centered Care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: A Mixed-Methods Study. Journal of clinical nursing PICU parents rated family-centered care a median 81.0 on a 21 to 105 scale, but interviews showed support did not always mean shared decisions. Nurses' encouragement, timely information, and family-friendly space shaped participation. RN Survey 2026 Menopausal symptoms, attitudes toward menopause, and social media/internet use among women in the climacteric period: a cross-sectional study. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Daily internet use and searching before seeing a doctor were linked to higher symptom severity. Moderate general use, 2 to 3 times weekly for 1 to 3 hours daily, was linked to lower severity. No link to attitudes was found. RN Cohort 2026 Clinical Frailty in Intensive Care Units: Prevalence and Associated Factors. Nursing in critical care In 149 adult ICU patients, 82.6% were frail within 24 hours. Frailty was linked to older age, male sex, higher APACHE II and nutritional risk, and death. This helps ICU nurses flag high-risk patients, but it is not a tested intervention. RN Cohort 2026 Thrombus Formation and Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter-Related Infection: A Retrospective Observational Study. Nursing open In PICC patients, recorded thrombus was associated with catheter-related infection. Nurses should monitor for both, but this does not prove thrombus causes infection or that any preventive action works. RN Cohort 2026 End-of-Life Care in an Acute Neurological Ward: A Retrospective Analysis of Clinical Practices During the Last Week of Life. The Journal of neuroscience nursing : journal of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses In acute neurological patients, documented end-of-life care was associated with more opioids and benzodiazepines, while lack of documentation was associated with more oxygen, antibiotics, and feeding tubes. RN Qualitative 2026 Family Caregivers' Understanding, Expectations, and Emotional Responses During Transition to a Palliative Care Unit: A Qualitative Study. Nursing open At PCU admission, family caregivers saw palliative care as comfort and support, but some linked it to death, felt unprepared, and wanted clear prognosis talks. Expect fear, myths, and relief. PT OT RN Cohort 2026 Distinct Health-Related Quality of Life Recovery Trajectories Among ICU Survivors: A Multicentre Prospective Cohort Study Using the EQ-5D-5L. Nursing in critical care Two years after ICU discharge, 58.3% of survivors stayed near normal quality of life, 31.7% remained suboptimal and 10.0% stayed persistently low. Mobility and pain problems persisted in poorer groups; older age, delirium, multimorbidity and facility discharge were associated with poorer recovery. RN Cohort 2026 Analysis of Factors Influencing Downtime During Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy in Critically Ill Patients and Construction of a Prediction Model. Nursing in critical care 39.0% of continuous renal replacement therapy days exceeded the 2.4-hour downtime standard in 145 ICU patients. Catheter problems, transport, plasma exchange, filter changes and agitation were linked to this, and a bedside tool flagged high-risk days. RN Cohort 2026 The Influence of Hospitalization and Nursing Interventions on Inpatients' Sleep Quality: A Multicenter Observational Study. Worldviews on evidence-based nursing Sleep quality worsened during hospitalization in 383 noncritical patients, and more night-time nursing intervention days and types were linked to poorer sleep. OT RN Cohort 2026 Impact of Cognitive Status at Skilled Nursing Facility Admission on Days Spent at Home Over the Year Following Traumatic Brain Injury Among Older Adults. Journal of the American Medical Directors Association Among older adults with traumatic brain injury discharged to skilled nursing, lower brief cognitive screen scores at admission were linked with fewer days at home over the next year. Severe impairment had the lowest days at home. RN Cohort 2026 Patient-Count and Perceived Workload Associations With Missed Nursing Care: A Multicenter Repeated-Measures Study. Journal of nursing scholarship : an official publication of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Nurses reported missing care activities on most shifts. While workload and missed care were linked overall, no single workload measure stood out after statistical correction. Patient counts alone did not explain missed care, suggesting perceived workload dimensions require further study. RN Cohort 2026 The Clinical and Economic Value of ClearGuard HD in the Inpatient Setting for Hemodialysis Catheter Management. Journal of infusion nursing : the official publication of the Infusion Nurses Society Fewer bloodstream infections and lower infection costs were reported after inpatient hemodialysis units switched catheter hub caps from Tego with Curos to ClearGuard antimicrobial caps. RN Other 2026 Direct cost of trabeculectomy in the Brazilian public health system: a micro-costing analysis in a university hospital. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Trabeculectomy direct supply costs averaged R$388.32 and were below public health system reimbursement, but waiting time rose from 18 days in 2020 to 122 days in 2025, so direct cost alone did not translate into timely access. RN Qualitative 2026 Patient Participation in Nursing Handover in a Coronary Intensive Care Unit: A Qualitative Study. Nursing open Patients in a coronary ICU rarely spoke up during bedside handover, viewing it as a professional meeting. Nurses worried about causing distress or confusion. Active participation requires explicit invitations and plain language, not just physical presence at the bedside. RN Systematic Review 2026 Application of Digital Health Interventions in Home Self-Management of Patients Undergoing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: A Scoping Review and Future Perspectives. Nursing open Digital tools for post-TAVR home care show promise in improving exercise capacity and reducing readmissions. However, evidence is weak for hard outcomes like mortality, and adoption is hindered by poor digital literacy, connectivity issues, and lack of insurance coverage. Nurse-led screening and simplified tools are key. RN Cohort 2026 Clinical and Technical Factors Associated With Tunnelled Central Venous Catheter Dysfunction in Haemodialysis: A Multicentre Session-Level Retrospective Study. Nursing open Dysfunction occurred in 2.5% of sessions. Left internal jugular placement, diabetes, and prior vascular access were linked to dysfunction. Heparin locks and line reversals tracked with dysfunction but likely reflected rescue measures. These findings are hypothesis-generating and do not prove cause. RN Other 2026 Construction of an Appropriate Needs Assessment Indicator System for Venous Access Devices in Patients With Septic Shock Based on Fluid Treatment Characteristics: A Delphi Study. Nursing open Experts agreed on a staged venous access assessment system for ICU nurses treating septic shock: match devices to resuscitation, optimization, stabilization, and evacuation needs. It is not tested in patients. RN RCT A Comparative Randomized Crossover Pilot Study Comparing Male External Urine Collection Devices in Home Settings. Journal of wound, ostomy, and continence nursing : official publication of The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society Both devices captured nearly all urine overnight, and no adverse events needed medical care. Thirteen men preferred the suction-assisted device, though it had more dislodgements, driven by one participant. RN Cohort 2026 Effectiveness of an Information Platform-Based Multidisciplinary Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Program on Recovery After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation: A Non-Concurrent Controlled Study. Nursing open Patients receiving a nurse-led multidisciplinary ERAS pathway with digital support after TAVI had shorter hospital stays and better early mobility than those receiving standard care. The benefit came from the entire package of extra staff time and rehab, not just the app. RN Cohort 2026 Turkish Translation and Cultural Adaptation, Validity and Reliability of the CALCULATE Pressure Injury Risk Scale in Intensive Care Unit Patients. Nursing open Turkish ICU patients who later developed pressure injuries had higher day 1 CALCULATE scores than those who did not, and researchers and ICU nurses scored the scale consistently. RN Other 2026 Effects of a Digital Decision Support System on Diabetes Management in a Real-World Home Care Setting: Prospective Quasi-Experimental Feasibility and Implementation Study. JMIR nursing Fewer emergency admissions and lower morning glucose were recorded while home care nurses used structured nursing training, GlucoTab, physician-guided insulin initiation and standardized insulin titration protocols. The small study cannot separate components. RN Systematic Review 2026 Daily care demands of children with complex chronic conditions at home: a scoping review. Revista brasileira de enfermagem Seven studies identified critical home care needs for technology-dependent children: respiratory management, ostomy care, and skin protection. Nurses must coordinate hands-on caregiver training during hospitalization to ensure safe discharge and prevent complications. RN Qualitative 2026 Care coproduction strategies based on the experience of patients hospitalized for COVID-19: a multicenter qualitative study. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Recovered patients described care coproduction as negotiation, not compliance. Clear information built trust, but rigid protocols and absent family involvement during discharge left them unprepared for recovery at home. RN Other 2026 Effectiveness of the PASRR Program Compared With Claims Data in Identifying Nursing Home Admissions With Mental Illness. Journal of the American Medical Directors Association Only 11.3% of nursing home admissions with claims/encounter-derived serious mental illness had a positive PASRR serious mental illness screen. Staff should not rely on that flag alone to identify residents who need mental health care planning. ← Previous PAGE 19 OF 19 Next →
