RN Systematic Review 2025 Social determinants of adherence to antiretroviral therapy among adolescents and young people living with HIV: a scoping review. Revista da Escola de Enfermagem da U S P Adolescents with HIV adhere to treatment when they understand it, have stable routines, and receive family or peer support. Barriers include stigma, fear of disclosure, depression, forgetfulness, and distance to clinics. Adherence is not just about motivation. RN Systematic Review 2025 Cultural considerations at end-of-life for people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds: A critical interpretative synthesis. Journal of clinical nursing Australian end-of-life care for culturally and linguistically diverse people faced barriers: poor interpreter access, jargon, English-only services, and staff cultural competence gaps. Ask each person and family about language, beliefs, rituals, and decision-making preferences. RN Cohort 2024 Evaluating Social Determinants of Health Related to Cancer Survivorship and Quality of Care. Cancer nursing Among 1135 cancer survivors, White participants were more likely than Black participants to report better quality of care for testing, diagnosis, and treatment. Those with higher education also reported better treatment quality. Geographic residence did not significantly affect these perceptions. RN Qualitative 2025 Parents' Experiences of Communication With School Nurses About Their Child's Weight Development in Sweden. The Journal of school nursing : the official publication of the National Association of School Nurses Parents described school nurse health visits as unclear, with little feedback and no access to growth charts. They wanted a digital channel, child-centered talks, and collaboration around their child's weight and context. This is experience, not proof. OT RN Qualitative 2025 Exploring how 'wish-granting' interventions foster wellbeing for children with life-threatening health conditions and their families: A qualitative study. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Families and professionals described wish-granting as creating joy, anticipation, and shared memories that helped children with life-threatening conditions cope with treatment and see new possibilities. It reports experiences, not proof the intervention works. RN Qualitative 2025 Adolescents' Experience of Pain: A Focus Group Study in Sweden. The Journal of school nursing : the official publication of the National Association of School Nurses Adolescents described pain as a warning bell from stress, schoolwork, relationships, and grief. They managed it by distracting themselves, enduring, using painkillers or heat pads, and asking parents, friends, or school nurses for help. PT OT RN Other 2026 Multidimensional associations of physical performance, balance, wellness and daily activities with frailty in older adults with coexisting frailty and diabetes. Journal of clinical nursing In older adults with diabetes and frailty, faster walking and sit-to-stand movement, better one-leg balance, more moderate-to-vigorous activity, less dependence, better nutrition and health perception were associated with being pre-frail rather than frail. Higher depression scores were associated with being frail. RN Systematic Review 2025 Determinants of the optimal selection of vascular access devices: A systematic review underpinned by the COM-B behavioural model. Journal of advanced nursing Vascular access studies mostly described training, equipment, algorithms, and difficulty scales. Only one addressed motivation, so why clinicians choose an appropriate catheter remains poorly explained. RN Survey 2025 Achieving consensus on the key elements of a nurse-led multidisciplinary chronic heart failure service in Thailand: An e-Delphi study. Journal of advanced nursing Thai clinicians agreed a nurse-led heart failure service should focus on education and monitoring, not self-adjusting diuretics. They rejected patient medication changes due to low health literacy, prioritizing weight tracking and office-hours access instead. RN Other 2025 Building a baby-friendly community: Development, strategy, implementation and evaluation of a BFCI program. Journal of advanced nursing Baby-friendly community workshops increased women's confidence in breastfeeding and improved public venue staff knowledge and attitudes after training. The before-and-after design, heavy attrition, and short follow-up mean this shows learning changes, not proven breastfeeding duration. RN Qualitative 2025 Adolescent and caregiver perceptions of addressing mental health in inflammatory bowel disease. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Adolescents with IBD and caregivers said stigma, trust, and who was present shaped mental health talks. Direct, nonjudgmental questions were valued, but written screening alone was not enough. Ask each patient how they want these conversations. RN Survey 2026 Factors Associated with Advance Care Planning Engagement Among Community-Dwelling Older Adults: A Cross-Sectional Study. Journal of clinical nursing Older adults with higher anxiety or decisional conflict engaged less in advance care planning. Depression showed no association. Decisional conflict mediated the link between anxiety and reduced engagement, suggesting clarity in care options is key. RN Systematic Review 2026 Virtual reality-based reminiscence therapy for older adults to improve psychological well-being and cognition: A systematic review. Journal of clinical nursing Older adults generally enjoyed virtual reality reminiscence and had little cybersickness, but effects on anxiety, depression and cognition were mixed. It may help recall personal memories, not prove broader cognitive or mood benefits. PT OT SLP RN Systematic Review 2026 Perceptions and Experiences of Animal-Assisted Interventions for People Living With Dementia: A Qualitative Evidence Synthesis. Journal of clinical nursing People with dementia often engage with animal-assisted interventions after initial hesitation, driven by prior positive experiences with animals. Success depends on flexible, individualized sessions and staff training to manage sensory overload, fall risks, and behavioral challenges in care homes. RN Qualitative 2025 Empowering Support for Family Members of Patients With Traumatic Brain Injury During the Acute Care: Insights From Family Members and Nurses. Journal of advanced nursing Family members and nurses agreed acute brain injury care should give timely clear information, hope, participation and support services. They disagreed about delivery: families wanted nurses to guide and stay; nurses cited time, roles and systems. RN Survey 2025 Children's and parents' attitudes to and knowledge about HPV vaccination following a targeted information intervention. Journal of child health care : for professionals working with children in the hospital and community Most children were already vaccinated, and parents trusted school nurses most for HPV information. Still, many families had not seen the national information package, and parents worried about side effects. RN Qualitative 2025 Adapting Advance Care Planning Interventions for Hispanic Communities Across the U.S. The American journal of hospice & palliative care Certified translation alone failed to adapt advance care planning tools for diverse Hispanic communities due to dialect differences. Adding Spanish-speaking staff resolved engagement barriers, while RSVP systems proved culturally incompatible and were retained despite host resistance. RN Other 2025 Adolescent Chlamydia Screening in Pediatric Primary Care: A Quality Improvement Project. Journal of advanced nursing Screening for chlamydia at adolescent well visits rose from 7.8% to 34.1% when all adolescents were offered testing, regardless of reported sexual activity, through a bundled workflow; 32 chlamydia and 4 gonorrhea cases were identified. RN Survey 2025 What Are the Infection Prevention Behaviors of Kidney Transplant Recipients and the Factors Related to These? Journal of clinical nursing Kidney transplant recipients reported incomplete infection prevention: 51.35% washed hands frequently, 61% had flu vaccine, 49% pneumococcal. Many did not take travel precautions. Nurses should ask specific behaviours, not assume adherence. PT OT SLP RN Other 2025 Palliative Home Care Based on Clinically Relevant Scientific Measures: A Cross-Sectional Study. The American journal of hospice & palliative care Patients with heart failure and dementia and their caregivers rated symptoms similarly, but caregivers reported more concern about pain and information needs. Higher patient symptom scores predicted worse heart health and greater caregiver burden. The practical problems item did not agree between pairs. RN Qualitative 2025 Nurse-Assisted Remote Patient Monitoring for Self-Management Support to Patients With Long-Term Illness-A Qualitative Multimethod Study. Journal of advanced nursing Patients described the remote monitoring as a safe space to ask questions and see their own trends, which helped them manage their condition after discharge. Nurses reported being able to spot problems early and offer support, but found it difficult to judge severity from data alone. RN Cohort 2025 Multi-Level Factors Influencing eHealth Literacy Among Chinese Older Adults: A Longitudinal Study. Journal of advanced nursing Older Chinese adults with chronic conditions, lower education, rural residence, or who live alone had persistently lower eHealth literacy over six months. Those with more internet experience, better self-rated skills, and social support for online health use had higher literacy. Access alone does not guarantee effective use. OT RN Qualitative 2026 Navigating School Meal Environments: Perspectives of Pupils Diagnosed With Autism Spectrum Disorder or ADHD. The Journal of school nursing : the official publication of the National Association of School Nurses Five boys with autism or ADHD stayed near familiar teachers or classmates to navigate school lunch. Crowded serving, repeated trips, and noisy seating made eating hard; some chose solitude to cope. RN Systematic Review 2026 Sociodemographic Disparities in the Use of Hospice by U.S. Nursing Home Residents: A Systematic Review. The American journal of hospice & palliative care Nursing home residents who were male, non-White, or in rural facilities were less likely to use hospice in studies accounting for other factors. Evidence was old and mixed, so these findings should not be treated as proof of why use differs. RN Cohort 2025 Risk Factors for Peritoneal Dialysis-Associated Peritonitis Due to Home-Based Operation Management: A Retrospective Cohort Study. Journal of clinical nursing In home peritoneal dialysis patients, improper handwashing, not checking povidone-iodine cap expiry and quality, and poor dialysis fluid storage were independent risk factors for peritonitis. Nurses should retrain these steps, not assume they prevent infection. RN Systematic Review 2025 Recent Advances in Non-Invasive Digital Nursing Technologies for Chronic Pain Assessment and Management: An Integrative Review. Journal of advanced nursing Nurses used phone calls and web-based programs to deliver pain education, cognitive behavioural therapy and self-management to adults with chronic pain. Some programs improved pain, disability or adherence, but additional nurse support did not help in every trial. RN Other 2025 Targeted Digital Health Intervention in End-of-Life and Hospice Care: A Scoping Review. Journal of advanced nursing Across 38 studies, end-of-life and hospice digital health research mostly mapped prediction models, mHealth, telehealth and records systems. It did not test whether care improves. Most lacked control groups and no acceptability, cost or equity outcomes were measured. PT OT SLP RN Qualitative 2026 Perspectives and Requirements of Patients with Prostate Cancer on Mobile Health Interventions During Androgen Deprivation Therapy: A Descriptive Qualitative Study. Journal of clinical nursing Most prostate cancer patients on hormone therapy use smartphones daily, but only half want mHealth for their care. They need simple, passive monitoring and trusted medical advice, while rejecting mindfulness and peer groups due to stigma and independence. RN Other 2026 Race and Ethnicity, Neighborhood Social Deprivation and Medicare Home Health Agency Quality for Persons Living With Serious Illness. The American journal of hospice & palliative care Seriously ill older adults in the US were less likely to receive home health care from high-quality agencies if they were Black, had Medicaid, or lived in more socially deprived neighborhoods. The gap by race did not depend on neighborhood deprivation. RN Survey 2025 Development and Validation of the Family and Community Nursing Advanced Practice Scale. Journal of clinical nursing A new scale identifies five core areas of advanced practice for family and community nurses: clinical care, leading practice, clinical reasoning, health promotion, and ethics. The research domain was largely absent from the final tool, suggesting a gap in advanced research engagement. RN Cohort 2025 Assessing the Impact of an Integrated Community Care Program on Unplanned Hospital and Emergency Department Representations: Interrupted Time Series Analysis. Journal of advanced nursing After PAC, RIR and HARP were merged into one Community Care program, readmission and ED-only re-presentation trends did not change significantly at 30, 60 or 90 days. Enrolments rose, but the readmission and ED outcomes were null. RN Other 2025 A Mixed Methods Evaluation of a Nurse-Led Domestic and Family Violence Service. Journal of advanced nursing 233 women in a nurse-led domestic violence service were contacted quickly and assessed for injuries, including strangulation. Staff said outreach and coordination helped them reach health care. This was a service evaluation, not a tested intervention. RN Survey 2026 Antibiotic Usage Patterns of Community-Dwelling Adults in Thailand: A Cross-Sectional Study. Journal of advanced nursing Patients' antibiotic use behaviour was good on average, but 54.5% had inadequate medicine literacy and 13.3% thought antibiotics could stop once symptoms improved. Patient literacy, awareness, care process, nurse experience and diarrhoea prescribing were linked to behaviour. RN Cohort 2026 The Development of a Model to Predict Cognitive Decline Within 12 Months in Home Care Clients. Journal of clinical nursing A model using routine home-care assessments flagged clients without a dementia diagnosis who were likely to decline cognitively within 12 months. It was moderately accurate, so it can prompt further review rather than diagnose decline. RN Qualitative 2025 Factors and Strategies Influencing Integrated Self-Management Support for People With Chronic Diseases and Common Mental Disorders: A Qualitative Study of Canadian Primary Care Nurses' Experience. Journal of advanced nursing Nurses managing both physical and mental health conditions in primary care reported feeling unprepared, with training focused on chronic disease and no clear protocols for mental health. They described referring patients away rather than supporting them, citing workload and unclear roles as barriers. OT RN Pilot 2025 A Multi-Method Study to Develop and Pilot Test an Interprofessional Transitional Care Model for Frail Older Adults - AdvantAGE. Journal of advanced nursing An interprofessional transitional care model, with nurse-led home visits, was piloted in 62 frail older adults; 14 were readmitted. It refined the model but did not test whether it reduces readmissions. RN Cohort 2026 A 28-Day Ecological Momentary Assessment of Mental Health Among Psychiatric Outpatients With Suicidal Ideation. Journal of advanced nursing Average 28-day suicidal ideation did not differ between high- and low-risk outpatients. Daily depression, anxiety and stress were associated with higher momentary suicidal ideation, especially depression, and high-risk showed flatter daily patterns. RN Qualitative 2025 Parents' Experiences of Family-Centred Care in Home-Based Paediatric Care of Their Child With Life-Limiting Illness: A Qualitative Descriptive Study. Journal of advanced nursing Parents valued home-based care for children with life-limiting illness but found it burdensome when services were not tailored. They wanted privacy, sibling support, inclusion in decisions and competent home care teams. RN Qualitative 2025 Self-Care Behaviors of Patients With Heart Failure in Thailand: A qualitative descriptive study. Journal of transcultural nursing : official journal of the Transcultural Nursing Society Thai patients with heart failure described fluid and salt limits as hard in hot weather, with family cooked foods, street meals, sugary drinks, and little weight monitoring. They wanted practical support after discharge, not more vague diet warnings. RN Other 2026 Resourceful Aging Among Migrants and Refugees: A Concept Analysis and Model Development for Holistic Nursing Care. Journal of holistic nursing : official journal of the American Holistic Nurses' Association Concept analysis defines resourceful aging for older migrants through adaptability, social connectedness, resilience, and resource navigation. Holistic nursing aligns with this by providing culturally competent, whole-person care that supports independence and cultural identity. RN Other 2026 Multi Perspective Considerations for Health Smart Home: Early Phase Exploratory Study. Journal of advanced nursing Home care nurses, support workers, older adults and families saw smart-home sensors as useful for spotting changes in daily routines, but worried about privacy, alerts and unclear roles. RN Systematic Review 2025 Nurse-Led Models of Service Delivery for Skin Cancer Detection: A Systematic Review. Journal of advanced nursing Nurse-led skin cancer clinics provided assessment, treatment and education, and one nurse-led eyelid service achieved accuracy similar to physician-led care. Evidence was limited, so use local governance and clear role explanations. RN Other 2025 Community Supervision Engagement to Examine Health Outcomes: A Scoping Review. Public health nursing (Boston, Mass.) Only 11 studies were found for people on probation or parole, and the one randomized trial found no effect on probation violations. Collaboration and empathy were reported as factors that supported care access, while stigma, transport and medication gaps were reported as barriers. RN Systematic Review 2026 Clinical Guidelines for Virtual Health Assessment and Care: A Scoping Review. Journal of advanced nursing Clinically focused guidelines for virtual health assessment remain sparse despite widespread telehealth use. Most existing resources prioritize technical logistics over patient care. Nurses and clinicians lack standardized frameworks for safe triage, physical examination, and follow-up in virtual settings. RN Cohort 2026 Relationship Between Health Literacy, Health Protective Behaviour, Quality of Life and Social Health in Older Adults Living in the Community. Journal of clinical nursing Older adults had an average social health score of 50.48 ± 8.98 on a scale from 5 to 125. Lower scores were linked to older age, higher health literacy, lower quality of life, living alone, living with children, higher education and poor health perception. OT RN Survey 2025 Examining the Relationship Between Daily Activity Levels and Elder Abuse and Neglect: Bringing Light on Elder Abuse. Journal of advanced nursing Daily-activity dependence was not linked to elder abuse in 448 older adults in Turkey. Psychological abuse was most common, and family conflict or poor self-rated health were associated with higher abuse risk. RN Cohort 2025 Nonlinear Relationship Between Vital Signs and Hospitalization/Emergency Department Visits Among Older Home Healthcare Patients and Critical Vital Sign Cutoff for Adverse Outcomes: Application of Generalized Additive Model. Clinical nursing research Among older home healthcare patients, hospitalization or ED visits were linked to a U-shaped risk pattern. Heart rate above 83.24 was linked to a sharp rise in modeled risk; critical points were 120.36 for systolic and 72.00 for diastolic pressure. RN Survey 2026 Care Needs of Community-Dwelling Older Adults Living in Poverty and Their Relationship With Other Biopsychosocial Variables: A Cross-Sectional Study. Journal of advanced nursing Half of older adults living in poverty had unmet needs for money and food budgets. Lower independence, higher loneliness, and poorer quality of life were linked to fewer met care needs. Assessing these social and functional factors is essential for this population. RN Systematic Review 2026 Self-Care Activities of Community-Residing Adults With Indwelling Urinary Catheters: A Scoping Review. Journal of advanced nursing Community adults with long-term indwelling urinary catheters do most daily catheter care themselves, but little patient-facing guidance covers what to do when complications arise. Nurses should teach monitoring and when to call for help. RN Systematic Review 2026 The Role of School Nurses in Promoting Positive Sexual Health Education: A Scoping Review. The Journal of school nursing : the official publication of the National Association of School Nurses School nurses were described as able to broaden sexual health teaching beyond disease prevention, but this scoping review found no standard curriculum and little direct evidence of their effectiveness. ← Previous PAGE 17 OF 25 Next →
